Taken from weekly update:
"Further improve the balance of encounters by limiting high-damage weapons"
This statement perhaps refers to primary weapons. So what primary weapons are high damage(high dps) weapons?
Most primaries have a TTK(time to kill) of around .8-1.1 seconds. Several weapons are far out of this range. Other primaries simply cannot compete. With a more Primary focused crucible, changes to these weapons are likely. These weapons are:
*Thorn - .36 seconds of engagement/~.9 seconds to kill
*TLW - .56 seconds to kill
*Hawkmoon - .4 to .7 seconds to kill
*Red Death - .67 seconds
Whether you disagree with nerfs or not, let me know what you think.
If you disagree with my prediction, let me know what you think will be nerfed.
Edit 1: For the most part, there has been a healthy discussion in the comments section. The crucible designers don't want a clear choice of what to use in PVP. With this next update, a more primary focused crucible will equate to a more exotic primary saturated crucible. Ice breaker and invective will be viable; however, that's it. Among the exotic primaries, if you're not using an exotic handcannon or a pulse rifle, such as red death, you're at a disadvantage. If handcannons aren't patched in 1.1.2, I believe it's inevitable that it will eventually happen.
Edit 2: Expect Auto rifles to be buffed back to pre 1.1.1 values.
Edit 3: I want to make it clear that I am also making this prediction from the amount of Crucible experience I have, coupled with developer trends. In the event that Exotic handcannons are not nerfed, expect these weapons to saturate the crucible and lessen weapon diversity.

4 RepliesThorn isn't .36 ttk. Thorn fires a shot every .18 seconds. Two headshots do 168 damage and takes .36 seconds. Target is still alive! DoT gives 7 damage per second. You'll need 5 ticks so thorn will kill in 5.36 seconds. Not great! So the best you can do is three headshots in . 54 seconds. That's .26 faster than, say, red hand, which is much more stable and has better aim assist. You're just whining. Thorn does quicker damage, but with worse range, aim assist, magazine, and stability than another decent pvp weapon. It's powerful but hardly overpowered.

1 ReplyHand cannons were already nerf this is a lie post
-
No. I think the only thing that's gettin beat up this time is the ammo crates. That just limits the high damage weapons they are speaking of: special and heavy.
-
2 RepliesMISLEADING TITLE You say Exotic Hand cannons will be nerfed in update 1.1.2 Then you say... This statement perhaps refers to primary weapons.
-
5 RepliesPretty sure the high damage weapons they are talking about are shotguns and sniper rifles.
-
8 RepliesNerf Rock. Paper is fine. -Scissors
-
4 RepliesWho cares, I got my NLB by my side.
-
1 Replytheres no way thorn kills faster then a last word haha
-
2 RepliesI think your prediction is good, I hope that red death gets fairly balanced again though. It is extremely good right now. Two bursts to the head and you're done.
-
3 RepliesThey better not nerf my thorn when I have only had it for around 2 weeks
-
Hand cannons can't even fire 3 shots under 1 second except LW so how is this possible unless enemies are low on health and or Hawkmoon triple stack bullet which has a 1/108 chance?
-
4 RepliesWhere does the figure for thorn comes from, because it does not have a faster killtime than LW.
-
There will be a day were those douches at bungie will even nerf the NLB for being too op
-
8 RepliesIf they nerf hand cannons again the last crucible matches I play will be the ones I use to trip over my rep counter when HoW drops. It's cool if other people enjoy it, but I've had enough of the nerfing. I've gotten my $100 of enjoyment out of this game, when it stops being fun I'm outta here.
-
How the hell is thorn 0.36 seconds. I can't even fire off two shots in that time frame
-
They are limiting "high damage weapons " By ammo drops
-
I approve
-
1 ReplyWhere are you getting these numbers? Because I'm getting wrecked constantly by TLW when using thorn. lol
-
5 RepliesWhere are you getting your times. They are wrong. Your basically saying thorn fires 5.5 rounds a second which is way off. Lol get your numbers right before you post stupid stuff like this lol what a joke
-
3 RepliesYou're annoying
-
2 RepliesThat sounds more like a gjallarhorn nerf to me. All the people whining about it have finally ruined things for everybody.
-
2 RepliesThey're talking about the special weapons. I believe they also said something about heavies too. Not primaries.
-
3 RepliesReading update and its kinda shitty. I mean the dude says he wants pvp players to choose if to snipe a dude is worth the shot. Really who the hells wants to pvp with no ammo? I mean shit man adjust to pvp the way it is or gtfo. Crying little bitches. Nerf this nerf that scrub gun blah blah blah. Its a good gun use it or get it. I mean 9 outa 10 people who bitch bout thorn can not get the damn thing. Look how nerfs hurt the vex! The suros! These were great guns . Leave that shit alone. I mean shit now the beast weapon is the damn strangers rifle! Really !

the whole post was about special weapons. context lends no proof to nerfing primaries at all.

In previous updates, something as huge as nerfing hand cannons has not been vaguely addressed in a single sentence. Let's look at the quote again.
"Further improve the balance of encounters by limiting high-damage weapons"
The key word here is limiting, not nerfing. Considering how both special and heavy ammo are being changed and how both special and heavy weapons deal high damage, logic would conclude that this sentence is regarding non-primary weapons, specifically special weapons.

3 RepliesWhat? A more balanced playing field. Say it ain't so!
