Why is thorn considered a noob weapon?
It takes two 3 headshots to kill. What's wrong with the user using the weapons exotic perk? If that's the reason it's nobody then Hawkmoon is nooby, gjallarjorn is nooby, every exotic weapon is nooby. I don't see why there is all the hate.
Edit 1: Wow 130 replies!
Edit 2: Some people say it's nooby and I can see how they can think that. But it is an exotic and it's a little hard to get. Also 330 relies!

It's because of its DOT that's the main reason... It doesn't even matter, It does the same amount of damage like Hawkmoon.

The thorn isnt a noob weapon; actually there are no noob weapons, but that's another topic. Anyway, the thorn is just the gun of the month to get picked on by the 'balance' mob aka nerfers cause of how many people use it. Whatever weapon is being used by a lot of people, gets complained about and there are cries for it to be 'balanced' aka nerfed. At first, it was auto rifles specifically the regime. Then it moved on to fusion rifles specifically the vex. Then shotguns. Now it's hand cannons, specifically the thorn. If bungie 'balances' aka nerfs the thorn, the 'balance' mob will just move on to whatever the next weapon of choice is by the masses. It's a never ending cycle that only ruins games cause after awhile all the weapons are trash and/or after all the changes, you end back at the first weapon people complained about. And the end result is a lot of people (including the balance mob) stop playing the game cause it's not fun anymore; but for whatever reason the 'balance' mob and developers either dont realize that or dont care.

2 RepliesAlso if you use the exotic reasoning then how about if there were no exotics how would they get kills? I can still get heaps of kills with just legendarys. I usually roll with a truth as my exotic in Pvp but I have a legendary that is basically the same the only reason I use the truth is for the extra rocket

26 RepliesBecause the weapon is a joke. And it only takes 2 head shots to kill. The auto aim on it is retarded. The range is stupid and doesn't even affect the burn damage dealt. It's mainly used by campers and blink shotgunners. And if you don't think it's op try dealing with a team of nerds all using it. Then come back.

Thorn is tops, but can be beaten. Close range The Last Word wins Mid range Red Death wins Long range Mida Multi Tool wins. Red Death is the obvious counter, as soon as you kill the Thorn user you begin healing, saving you from DoT death. Most people run around with Felwinter's Lie anyway

I don't think it's a noob weapon. I use it all the time, and I don't get mad when other people use it. That said, it certainly isn't a difficult weapon to use. It has good stability, high fire rate, and a decent magazine. Couple that with the lowest TTK of any primary (bar Remote, NLB, or Triple Stack Hawkmoon), and it isn't hard to see why some people do consider it a 'noob weapon.'

I have it maxed and I think it's not skillful I could get incredible kill streaks just by doing my thing and not even trying.

Thorns firerate should see a little nerf since two shot kills are pretty toxic with hand cannon. Nothing else is needed imho.

It's not a noob weapon, per se. But after the buff it got a while back, it became very "user friendly". The original Thorn was a pain in the butt to get and even more so to use. The kick on it was monstrous, and the reload was as slow as molasses.

They took what could have been one of the most tactical weapons in the game and instead made it into a cannon that requires no skill or tactics to achieve a 2.0 or better. I am not bothered by shotguns or fusions as they have good counter play, but cannons have no counter other than try to dps race. That said I don't care if they try to fix it at this point as PvP has larger flaws that prevent it from being comparable to most decent FPSs.

I don't know what you mean because thorns can two shot very easily so yea it's quite op along with the dot which makes it easier for kids with average or below skills to land a kill when an enemy is escaping. Not To mention everyone uses it so one shot from two guys kill you as oppose to rifles in the past. Don't know what the hawk moon is like but I'm sure it probably has the same ttk ability. TLW is pretty toxic as well since it can kill quickly even at medium range.

Also 330 relies![/quote] Ironically these same people are using Arc Blade, Golden Gun, and sitting in a Titan Bubble with Helm of Saint-14. Too be honest, crucible isn't all about skill. It's also about using your resources. If Thorn is good, you would be stupid not to use it; if Bungie felt it was OP, they'd nerf it.
