It takes two 3 headshots to kill. What's wrong with the user using the weapons exotic perk? If that's the reason it's nobody then Hawkmoon is nooby, gjallarjorn is nooby, every exotic weapon is nooby. I don't see why there is all the hate.
Edit 1: Wow 130 replies!
Edit 2: Some people say it's nooby and I can see how they can think that. But it is an exotic and it's a little hard to get. Also 330 relies!

Too easy to use in PvP. Seems like training wheels

The thing about thorn is it isnt necessarily the fact that its op that pisses me off, its how annoying it is. How almost everyone uses it, how theres lingering damage, and super high damage. Its so annoying when you pop out of a wall and get hit and you have to sit behind the wall again to regen health just to try again and have the same thing happen.
-
2 RepliesCuz you put 2 bullets into there head and then run away like a bitch that's why
-
3 RepliesEdited by Rich Inc: 4/2/2015 12:11:37 PMIt's not a noob gun, it's just annoying because the burn kills me 90% of the time not the man wielding the gun, but that's why the perk is there so I can't really complain
-
It's easy to use, that's why!
-
Hawkmoon can oneshot and thorn Is op

Irritating? sure. Lame? I guess. Too Powerful? Kinda, maybe in skilled hands or with massive lag advantage. Nooby? Nope. Trolling? Yeah Cliched? Yup Overused? of course Overhyped? uhuh You people gotta get your insults in order... noobs don't learn, they don't adapt. No noob uses Thorn, they hate thorn because it is "bullshit 1HK <homophobic or racist slur>" gun. (yes I did just characterise all noobs as racist homophobes). Noobs don't find a tactic that works after repeated innovation. Noobs keep on doing the same stupid thing over and over and blame everything else for their failure. Noobs use green high ROF ARs in IB at level 32. Noobs look for Xur on Tuesdays then break their game disc cos it's not loading him in. Noobs delete all exotic bounties because they don't use "crutch weapons". Noobs don't have Thorn, it wouldn't occur to them to try it because they don't need it, their tactics and loadout are perfect, it's just all the no skill scrubby lagswitching crutch Thorn Red Death Last Word Felwinters users who ruin the crucible and make it look like they can't play when in actual fact they are a stone cold killer with laser vision and mad skillz. know your noobs!

4 RepliesIt's not a Noob gun.... The reason why so many people complain about it, is coz they haven't got it and they're too shit to do the 500 points from Void Kills part of the bounty! Stop Bitching..... Get Good..... Enjoy your Thorn!
-
It's all about the scrub mentality. They simply cannot accept the fact that they WILL lose some, so they blame it on players using a set of weapons rather than on their own incompetence. Noobs and scrubs are usually the first to call another player out for being a noob/scrub.
-
There should be an "I dont care" option
-
2 RepliesStarting to think the Xbox kids are most of who complain on the forum. I hardly ever see posts about Hawkmoon like this even though it can very easily match thorn
-
2 RepliesEdited by Hawaiin Breeze: 4/2/2015 10:52:06 AMThe burning perk -blam!-s with people and makes them freak out and panic if they aren't used to it. Gives the wielder an advantage that no other gun has. Idc, do the bounty, get the gun and use it. Just don't send shit talking messages using a thorn and felwinters. You're guns are doing 90% of the work for you.
-
If you're going against someone good it's pretty annoying. Also the burn takes forever to get your shields back from. Imo it's not s noob weapon though.
-
People complain cuz it has "thorn burn"
-
Only nooby thing in the game are shotguns
-
all the scrubs who said no are thorn scrubs
-
It takes a while to level up Thorn, but anyone can shoot it. Hit someone with it 4 times they're dead.
-
Mostly because people get killed by it easier because it's DoT which is rare in destiny. Because of this they stay out of cover longer to try to get the kill not realizing that their health is actually much lower than it appears. I've been using thorn since before it was considered good and have learned to gauge the DoT pretty well. In short it plays out if they get a head shot on you the first hit then take cover immediately. If it's a body shot then you can keep foreign until the 2nd hit at which point you need to get in cover. If the DoT effect wears off before a 2nd hit then immediately take cover unless you are getting the killing blow right now. If you take more than the above then depending on your build you should make a last ditch effort to gain a kill before the poison gets you. Finding the no recovery line for your build I s very important. Other things to consider is the thorn build being used. The most common are the ranged build and the stability build. Choose tactics appropriate to combat the build once you recognize it. Rage build users tend to snipe with thorn. Stability build users trend to run and gun aggressively with it.

Ha, gun takes little effort or skill to do well with. It is literally the only gun where you can shoot someone run away and kill them without facing them. Damage over time is such a preposterous perk to have in pvp. I have the bounty but I'll never do it because I'll feel like a jerk for robbing people of their crucible enjoyment. I've used it on my friends xbox and I can honestly say the advantage is impossible to ignore. It's not an issue if it's used just don't defend it by saying absurd things like it's not an easy gun to use, use it with mostly pride and some shame.

Edited by DeZevil: 3/31/2015 7:22:50 AMIf the perk was gone, I'd be perfectly happy with its current state in terms of damage and stats. Unfortunately, the way the perk works makes Thorn a very cheap weapon in PvP. If you get killed using any weapon and enemy survives, you missed out on a kill unless you had a grenade going (which is a cooldown thingy). However, having your enemy burn dead long after you died yourself nets you a kill you do not deserve, because you lost the gunfight. Mark of the Devourer not only does damage and procs after every hit (except when already applied), it also delays health regeneration and interrupts triggered health regeneration (like after killing an enemy with Red Death). Without Mark of the Devourer, Thorn is pretty much like a slightly slower, more accurate Last Word in aimed mode. The Mark just scales it up a few steps, making it incredibly frustrating as it also disables cover-tactics because you will just burn to death anyway. The only redeeming factor is that it is somewhat challenging to get.

1 ReplyThere is no such thing as a nooby weapon. There are only weapons that are more effective at killing the enemy, and weapons that are less effective at killing the enemy. Picking the most effective weapons available to you is nothing but the smart thing to do. When you die to a better gun it's natural to think it was only because of the better gun and if you had had evenly matched guns you would have prevailed. Therefore the opponent who killed you with thorn must be a noob who otherwise would have lost to you. Therefore only noobs use thorn. That line of reasoning is merely rationalizing the situation to avoid admitting you were defeated fair and square and saving your ego. That, and only that, is where using the term "noob" to describe any weapon or tactic comes from. Use whatever gun/tactic/class makes you the most effective killer. Period.

Edited by I’m Dunn-4, Exo PDF File: 3/31/2015 3:59:34 AMBecause it's easy to kill people with it... Seriously? Something's a noob's weapon when they have a good TTK? Come on, now. Grow up, people.

I don't care if it's nooby or not haha its so fun to use when you get two head shot and you see the damage over time doing the rest while they frantically run around not knowing what to do haha I also do the same when shot with it it's just a fun weapon

Three headshots. But two and the dot kills.
