Thorn bounty waaaay too hard for this bad pvp player
Stuck at 99 out of 500 all day can't seem to make any progress. Have atheons epilogue void shotgun and maxed corrective measure...been at this bounty for two days...suggestions? Thoughts? Give up and abandon the bounty?
Edit: thanks to everyone who offered tips and instruction for my bad PVP skills thanks to some new friends I made this morning and to my new clan the Lucky Bullet Club for playing control with me and helping me get the 500!!!! Bring on Xyor!! Thanks everybody!!

2 RepliesIf your not doing it with a voidwalker, I would abandon it and pick it up when it rolls around for the lock... void super helps. Either way though, i would stick with it... it is a very cool exotic and you'll only have to do it once...

It's hard for some people but I found it easy. The key to crucible is picking your battles; fight or flight. You have to really be careful with who your fighting and know the weakness of their loadout and abuse it. Also having good guns makes a huge difference what class and loadout do you run?

I was fortunate enough to have The Calming drop with void, and maxed it's a beast in PvP. If you can, try to get yourself a void fusion rifle as they're pretty well balanced for PvP. Better yet (and a little belated, granted) get the Iron Banner one and keep rolling for void damage.

1 ReplyGo do free for all matches, rumble I believe it's called. Now play the matches from a grading standpoint. If you get wrecked 2 or 3 times immediately it's time to leave and find another game. This way you can find other players around your skill level and at the same time not be screwing over a team.

I have the AE. Don't use that thing in crucible, it sucks for that. I would recommend the Suros or better yet, Red Death for health regeneration. Void fusion or shot gun for medium or short range, and a high impact lower rate of fire machine gun. Pick your battles and only support the guys on the flags. Stay a reasonable distance away to avoid being hit by a Super. Sound strategy as it has worked for me on both my Thorn bounties. It was tough on the first run because I got the bounty with my Hunter. I did the second run with my Warlock in IB. MUCH easier with the Warlock!!! Happy Hunting! Stay with it, the gun is amazing.

1 ReplyJust wait until the strike part.. It is basically a nightfall without burns. And even more enemies. And tears. Lots and lots and lots and lots of tears. It's dangerous to go alone! Here, take this! [spoiler]\_/ -- It's a cup to fill with your painful, sorrow filled tears![/spoiler] Seriously though, don't go alone.It is exponentially easier with people. I used LFG to do it. As for the crucible part, as long as you just keep making kills you'll be fine. Don't worry too much about the spread and stuff. You have a full deck of void weapons on your hunter. Use those. Especially heavy. make those a priority. And if you play control don't worry about zones, just go for kills (people may disagree, but they really aren't as important as you think. I watched a full match where the guys didn't cap a single zone and still won by a large margin)

My buddy is in the same situation, he just cant seem to get that 500. I feel bad for him. I managed to do it and love my thorn - wish i could help him.

Thorn is more of a pvp gun anyways, so if you don't really pvp then you are not missing out on too much

Lol play rumble. Camp with the shotty until heavy ammo comes. Only fights when close range or you have heavy ammo. Epilogue is too trash for anything, it's void but its so bad.

Stick with it. Do Combined Arms if available because of all the heavy drops and stay close to one of them.

just keep working on it. I used Atheon Epilogue, Truth, and a void fusion. Atheon Epilogue for range and the fusion for close up, Thurth was good for a easy four kills. I'm not a pvp base player, but for every complaint about the Thon is rubbish. I got my thorn bount today and finished it today, watch your K/D ratio if it's higher that 0.5 you will make progress.

3 RepliesMy suggestion is don't use the epilogue it will get you killed. Stick to your shotgun and corrective measure. Just use obstacles to your advantage to close the distance for your shotgun Protip: do not immediately pick up heavy ammo when it drops. Stand NEAR it, but not close enough to pick it up. You will notice the ammo pack is on the ground. Leave it there until the other team uses up all their heavy or dies. Now pick it up. Begin massacre.

firebase delphi, camp the window for idiots diving in from c. keep that U locked down tight. dont rubberneck in front of the windows for every sniper and the next block over to see, stay off to the sides. reserve your super for bladedancers, bombing the enemy's heavy ammo drops, and cleaning up B every now and then.

Go for the assists. Just follow people and get some rapid epilogue shots on the target, or farm friends.

1 ReplyI suck at PVP too. I managed to complete the Thorn bounty this past Saturday and already leveled it up. If I can do it anyone can. It's an awesome gun. I used a Hunter with the word of Crota, calming fusion rifle, and the valedictorian rocket launcher. I played on control the whole time I was completing my bounty. I had better luck on that mode than any other. Most of my kills were with the fusion rifle. The best thing to do is learn the maps. Even if you need to take one of your other characters to get adjusted to the maps first, so you don't lose all of your points. Crucible is like any other mode, the more time you spend on it the better you will get at it. Good Luck!!!
