Was in a group a few weeks ago, 4 experienced, 2 new guys. I get invited at the bridge after one of the experienced guys leaves. We try it legit, but the leader gets frustrated when the newbs don't know what to do. More or less just telling them you go right, you go left, GET OFF THE PLATE! We wipe 3 or 4 times, then let's just cheese it. We get to the next part and the newbs don't know what to do, so we miss the chest. On to deathsinger, more of you go right you go left....again guys lost. Shooting knights instead of wizards, "what shrieker?". Wipe a few more times then the 3 experienced guys give up and leave. I stay and take 30 minutes and we walk through it. I show them where to go on right and left side, how to get the wizards out, where the shrieker is, and explain the timer that's running the whole time. After 30 minutes, we three took that bitch down. If you can find someone that is patient enough to show you the basic mechanics, anyone that has done weeklies or nightfalls can easily do these raids. If you have done them plenty of times, why not take a few minutes at each stop to explain the next encounter? You were new once too.

I ran vog (reward free) this week just to take some friends of friends through who hadn't done it before. They unlock the achievement, get new weapons etc and it gives them more passion for the game. Surely more people enjoying it more is a good thing. Of course it's a challenge when folks are new to it all... but it's supposed to be a challenge, not a stroll to get some loot.

That's what most groups are about now sadly. Run through fast, get loot, complain about anyone or anything that slows them down. I enjoy playing the game. If it takes a while longer and we all have fun, even better. I have been blessed with good groups to teach me, and I don't mind helping others. Makes my stomach turn to read most of the posts on here though.

Indeed! I would probably leave such a group before they had chance to boot me...

I never leave because of inexperience, but raging idiots will make dinklebot appear

Only yesterday I took 4 people through VOG from the forums as I still had one to complete. 2 had never done it before and the other 2 hadn't been past the Templar. At every stage I explauned what would happen before starting it. At every stage we completed it within a few tries up until Atheon. We even got through the Gorgons the first time showimg them the route for hard mode so they would be ready. Atheon was the hardest part for which I got a friend in to help so there were 6 of us. Yes we died as people missed oracles or couldn't hold the portal open but every run got better and we beat Atheon within 20/30 mins. Even though I got what I would consider poor rewards from the raid my sense of achievement for helping people through for their first time was brilliant. It's well worth taking another guardian under your wing

I work nights now, so finding people on the weekend to raid with is difficult. If the guys that I helped are on, I have no problem inviting them to join. They also know what to do now. And if we get some more new guys, they will stay with me to teach.
-
I don't work weekends and know what you mean about nights as I used to work nights. If you need anyone at the weekend send me a msg

Alot of people on the forums are quick to bash "noobs", but forget they were at one point a "noob".

Glad to hear there are still people like this. Most people give it 3 attempts then leave. Do you have a Xbox1?
