About to make my first Titan after using a Warlock as my main character since launch.
Do you guys have any advice or pro tips to get me started?
Also, Striker or Defender to start with?
I have Helm of Saint 14 and the Helm of Innermost Light but no other Titan Exotics so far.
Edit: Thanks for all the replies guys! I love this community sometimes.
It looks live Defender is winning the vote so far so I'll start levelling it up tonight.

Depends on your play style personally I rock defender with weapons of light when I'm running roc strikes. It's also nice to be able to heal yourself for the hard raid with blessings of light. More people need a bubble Titan than a fist of panic Titan

1 ReplyAs other have mentioned, Defender is extremely useful for raids. Especially with Glasshouse or Saint-14. I like Glasshouse to increase length of bubble and blessings of light for Crota HM on the shrieker stage, or for Crota to distract boomers from the sword runner and give everyone a temp over-shield as we run back inside or to the ogre room. Weapons of light are great for Crota on normal mode if you use the left doorway strategy (and other strategies I'm sure). Pop it right before you take him down and everyone gets the buff. After he's down, everyone hops in again to regain it for the second take down. Also protects from boomers. You can also set it up so your bubble drops orbs for your teammates as it takes damage. If you have a Defender on your raid team already, using a Striker with flashbangs is great to disorient the Gatekeeper on the bridge as people come across. A few smashes with the sword and he's down, not knowing what hit him. Or for flashing Swordbearer/wizards/Deathsinger, etc. Striker is tons of fun to play on other game modes/strikes/patrols. Shoulder charge is an absolute riot, as is fist of havoc/death from above. On my second Titan I focused prob 80% of my XP on leveling up Defender, specifically for raids. Last perk is about to unlock. I think once you get familiar with the perks/skills/load outs, you'll enjoy how versatile Titans are in any situation. With Saint-14 you're already ahead! Just my $.02 anyways :)

Go with defender first

I prefer striker and death from above, but Defender and Saint 14 should be a priority to level if you raid.

Those were my first exotics!! Both are very nice and being able to have your exotic as a helm is good because bungie insists on having helms be the rarest drop haha. My biggest advice I'd knowing how to spec your titan and specing it for the situation so can make yourself a tank or an orb generating monster or surprisingly agile. Also while saint 14 and inmost light are nice for some situations a more versitle exotic is also good for many situations. I ususlly try to spec towards super and gernades as the melee is sadly underpowered.

Use defender first and level that Helm of Saint-14 as soon has you hit 20

5 RepliesEdited by King Crimson: 3/6/2015 8:31:14 PMAm I Missing something? Everyone is saying start with defender, but you dont unlock defender till lvl 15. So you are forced to start striker, but once you unlock defender, USE IT. It will bail you out of oh shit moments and help you in normal ones. Also, Learn your grenades. It may sound stupid but certain grenades like the Lighting and Spike grenades can be VERY powerful( Some say too powerful, especially on pvp) but they are also easy to screw up EDIT: The more you (I) know! Thanks for all the replies, yea my first Character was a Titan.

I prefer striker since im more of a run and gun than sticking to one area. The Shoulder charge is invaluable for those perfectly timed run around the corner encounters. It definitely gives you the one man army feel.

2 RepliesYou have two of the best exotics for the class. Literally I could give TONS of tips for both, and some builds but it would be too long of a post. In summary. Striker is frontline warrior. You'll notice a big difference soaking up bullets than your warlock. High risk high reward playstyles. Melee oriented. Lots of high damage abilities and keen on survival with shields and health regen. Defender is the team player. You protect your fireteam. Where a warlock has some support with orbs, defender takes it to the next level, offering buffs, "de-buffing" the enemy, and becoming a walking tank. If on XBL, message gtag (same as user) and I could help level and give pointers.

Max out armor and regen
-
1 ReplyStart with Defender, as you'll be more helpful in Raids and strikes... Helm of St-14 is an excellent exotic to equip, max that shit out! And foremost, have fun!
-
Start with defender. Trust.
-
Defender. And punch it all dead.
-
It depends how much game time hes gunna see, striker is by far the most satisfying and fun, but defender is a lot more helpful for teams. So if the titan is just for raids and nightfall then go defender first. Just dont forget to punch 7 shades of shit out of everything
-
Use magnetic grenade
-
Defender is more useful
-
Once u unlock the trait, Shoulder charge everything. Lol nothing can POSSIBLY go wrong if you do that

2 RepliesOne day you will look like a sad kitty

Striker class will be the most fun you can have with a titan. Titan smash. Plus you have a chance to generate the most orbs of light
-
Start with defender I started with striker and wished I would've known better in the beginning. The shield is a life saver. Force barrier is awesome because you have a personal shield and you reload super fast. And the first grenade sticks to enemies and blows up twice. I absolutely love my titan and I hardly ever use striker now.

Punch all the things

10 RepliesBuy Saint-14 right now. You're welcome.

If you like tactical, go defender. More similar to sunsinger. It does make levelling up a bit harder with the story. If you like destroying things with brute force, go striker. More similar to voidwalker. Both are incredibly fun. Punch every minion. It's very satisfying. If you see another titan, you can bro-fist with them as a greeting.

I’d say level up defender first. I find striker more fun to play with, but defender is very useful for nightfall and such. As a defender you’re more support for the rest of your fireteam, as a striker you can just go ham which is loads of fun. Both exotics you have are arguably the best ones for a titan. St.14 for defender and inmost light for striker. I have both but would also really like to get my hands on ruin wings. Also, punch things, a lot!
