I'm 13 years old, and despite my voice not being overly high-pitched, you can definitely tell I'm not an adult. Last night I ran VoG on hard and was kicked for being a "squeaker". Tonight I ran Crota and got kicked for not talking. Should I speak up and risk getting kicked for being too young, or should I remain silent?

I have played with some boss kids, who gives a -blam!- if they have a high pitched voice. Just don't yell or laugh like a wierdo haha.

As long as you have some thing good to say. If you are rambling on about nothing then idc if you are 10 or 30 shut up. If it is helpful to the team then speak up even if you have a high pitch voice. As long as you are an asset to the team age doesn't matter at all.

Yes play your heart out don't listen to all the other negative ppl find ppl who don't are about age and will show you the ropes

Yes, always speak bro. if someone gets mad because of your voice they have some psychological problems they need to take care of themselves.

Seems like we're splitting the vote.

Follow these tips If you start the group you talk when you want If you join a group talk when necessary If you join with at least one other person, who's not also young, speak but not excessively I for one don't care about your voice if you're not annoying I enjoy conversation flowing

Edited by Obscuref00l: 1/21/2015 5:28:17 AMTo squeak or not to speak, that is the question yes talk, let them now you have a mic and you can follow the leader, just don't talk about stupid thing. ex: real life problems - no one care how much you love gjallarhorn - a lot of people are butthurt because they don't have it basically anything that is talked about in the forums- including but not limited to this and for god sake don't try to steal the lead because you think you know the raid better, you probably do but you didn't take the time to find the people so it not your raid, your just helping, not to say you cant throw in some ideas after a couple of wipes other then that squeak away my friend

Edited by Soul: 1/21/2015 5:18:44 AMI'm typically hesitant to play with people as young as you are because I tend to get annoyed by either incompetence or the inability to relate to the daily life of somebody who's less than half my age. There are exceptions to the rule, however, and I will often give kids a chance unless I'm pressed for time.

1 ReplyDo you stay focused on the task at hand when you play? I watched my 9 yr old on VoG hard this past Sunday evening and his team seemed very knowledgeble. They assigned him Oracle duty and showed him how to get high above this one oracle he was supposed to look out for. After a few failed attempts to make it up to his perch the action started and he promptly killed his first oracle from that position, unfortunately he got a little to close to the edge and fell off into a mass of Vex. He couldn't make it back up and the team wiped. Needless to say I wasn't to thrilled and proceeded to do some serious armchair coaching, which he didn't appreciate. The team eventually did complete VoG on hard and he was rewarded with his second VoC. He ran CE three times later that evening and completed it all three times. He had a few lousy moments during one of the runs as he didn't listen to the team leader. Again, I wasn't to gentle with his ego, but he got his act together. If you're a Huinter please don't waste time making unicorns and if you're a Titan don't try punching everything. I know my time is important to me and I'm sure others feel the same. Stay focused on the mission and you'll be fine.

No issue, don't mind language hell I use it, but at least be mature.
-
I personally don't care as long as your not one of them youngins who feel to drop the f bomb every other word and randomly scream in our ears
-
If I'm with a friend I talk to his friends sometimes but usually I just sit their quietly and focus on the game
-
the legal age to speak is 18

While I have to run a raid with a squeaker, I wouldn't give a crap as long as they did their jobs and stayed cool.

2 Replies50/50...
Would bang

didn't see that, did ya?
Say something if ya -blam!- up, do call outs, just don't try to strike up a conversation with them. As long as you hold your own your ok.

I have no problem playing with younger people. BUT if you are annoying and blaming everyone for your deaths or taunting others for mistakes I don't want you part of my team. Putting people down for mistakes RARELY help the situation. (I guess that last part goes for any age)
-
I really don't run do raids don't really have the time for them but I would never kick someone for the way that they sound
-
I'm guessing you got kicked for not communicating rather than any agist issues. Communication is key, I raid with some younger guardians and it's not been an issue. Just don't act like a five year old and no one will care too much if you sound like one.
-
I cant lie kido i dont enjoy being in a chat with kids, not cuz of no reason other then adults cant communicate the same with a kid there, and that goes for this game and real life because no responsible adult talks with kids the same as adults. When it comes to you being a "squeaker" dont let that phase you kido, you dont wanna be cool with those anyway

Edited by Edge: 1/21/2015 3:02:10 AM50/50 split. Wow!
-
Talk, people can be jerks, kicking for that reason is dumb
-
I would recommend trying to find some other kids your age to do raids with. Search for a clan or make a LFG post for kids your own age.
-
Talk.. Communication during raid is important.. The one that kicked you are dicks lol.. I take a skilled and knowledgeable 13 year old over a dumb can't shot and constantly dying 25 year old...

That ain't cool I'm 13 also and I play with friends and randoms and no one ever brings up anyone's voice and we all sound like 13 so play with nicer people
