Obvious troll is obvious! Football is a term relative to the region you live in. There were sports that came before soccer also known as football. Soccer or association football has no patent on the word football. The usage of the word football is correct in all cases.

Football was a term that meant played on foot rather than on horse back so all ball games were football. The proper name to the game you are referring to is soccer, the name of the ball they play with is a soccer ball. That has been its name for over 100 years. About 20 years after the euros named it soccer we Americans started a game called football because it's played with a football. About 30 years after that some euros staring calling soccer football again. Not sure why.

Until something is done to the game to make it more commercial friendly soccer will never command the market share football does in the United States.

66 RepliesAmerican Football where the ball is only in play for about 5 seconds at a time. Then they have a little break for their tired legs whilst deciding what to do next . Play for 5 seconds more , have a rest , decide what to do next , play for 5 more seconds and so on. At least in Footy the ball is almost constantly in play and you have to think on your feet for 45 straight minutes .

Omg who the fudge cares. Yes football is a great sport and yes football is a great sport. Most of Europe watches football and most of the USA watches football. So who cares is football is a puss sport cause they have pads or if football is a puss sport because they run in circles for what seems to to be a infinite amount of time. In the end their both great sports, but American football is more masculine then rugby....

1 ReplyEuros love Soccer, along with 90% of the rest of the World. I have tried a few times to watch it, mainly during the World Cup but holy crap it's boring. How can you sit there and watch a bunch of grown men in short shorts kicking a ball around for hours. Rugby would prob be slightly more interesting but I've never seen it shown on American television. To make Soccer fun to watch, toss a bunch of big breasted women out there in their underwear and zoom in on the action! I would tune in for that. #InWuWeTrust
