The best you could come up with for the first Christmas in destiny was a legendary heavy weapon?
really took a lot of thought there did it?
took the higher ups weeks to noodle it out?
Edit: what most of you seem to be missing in my comment is that this was pretty weak for the "first christmas in destiny". NO, they didn't HAVE to give anything, would have been better if they didn't at this point. They should have done something that players could show off later. Something that new players would see them with and say "how did you get that?"
"oh, this? i got this with the christmas strike, raid, event, etc. But you can't get it now, will have to wait till next Christmas."
Something that makes the players stand out a little. Something that would make players actually want to keep playing, besides the grind.
edit 2: ok, it seems many of you are totally missing the point of what i was trying to say (or maybe i just said it wrong).
My whole statement was that this "christmas gift" thing was a total let down and took no effort. I expected bungie to do far more for the first major holiday of destiny than just to hand out purple engrams. The games major tag line is- BE LEGENDARY- but i have seen little to nothing about this game that makes anyone legendary. There is nothing that allows me to invest anything into this game, no customization, no personalization, nothing that says 'i was here'. every guardian is cookie cutter. they proved this when they sold level 31 armor in the tower. they proved this when they made all the weapons from the VoG lower than the weapons they sell in the tower.

3 RepliesYou're an idiot. How about you quit your damn crying, grow the hell up and again, shut the hell up. It's a game. They didn't have to give us anything. You prick
-
1 ReplyI bet you were one of the ones bitching about the pumpkin heads we got on Halloween... some people will never be satisfied.
-
3 RepliesEdited by Chr15py: 1/7/2015 6:08:21 PMMeh. I'd like a scout rifle with firefly. I'd be happy but will probably get the ever lame and "full retard" devil you don't with wanky perks lol Will add up later lol

3 RepliesEdited by Vercingetorix07: 1/7/2015 6:10:31 PMYou know what would've been epic? During the week of Christmas, there would be a special strike available on Earth at the North Pole. The Fallen are attempting to "steal" Christmas from the Last City on Earth by attacking Santa Claus. (They're pirates!) You have to fight off the Fallen and work your way through Christmas Elf Village, using candy cane fences and gingerbread houses as cover. Then, eventually, you get to the boss - The Kell of the Devils House, wearing a Grinch outfit (LOL), holding Santa and his sleigh hostage. You defeat the Kell, and when you complete the strike your first time on that character, you get a special Candycane shader, the Snowblind Sparrow, and 5 Santa Hat consumables. During the month of December, players would be able to defeat Fallen majors, who could drop a Santa Hat consumable, similar to the Halloween event. When a player uses a Santa Hat, they have a Santa Hat on, with a snowy white beard, and above their character's head there's a cloud snowing down on them! THIS IS WHAT BUNGIE SHOULD'VE DONE! EDIT: I made this a topic after thinking about it for a while. Everyone should see this!

I think giving out weapons was a very bad idea, they guaranteed themselves some complaints and I thought they would be smarter than that. A sparrow would have been better. They could have even given out something to buff Croats bane.
-
Got the badger ccl and last night I was trying to decide what new scout rifle to buy so it helped my decision. Gotta love getting lucky occasionally
-
1 ReplyI got The Devil You Don't and I'm not saying it's great but to me it is special because it is further proof that they care about the players.
-
i got a pretty good shotty, im content. free stuff is free, no use in getting upset about it.
-
They didn't have to give anything. I got a nice scout rifle, so I'm fine.

4 RepliesMy grandfather smoked his whole life. I was about 10 years old when my mother said to him, "if you ever want to see your grandchildren graduate you have to stop immediately." Tears welled up in his eyes when he realized exactly what was at stake. He gave it up immediately. Three years later he died of lung cancer. My mother said to me, "don't ever smoke. Please don't put your family through what your grandfather put us through." I agreed. At 28, I have never touched a cigarette. I must say, I feel a very slight sense of regret for never having done it, because your post gave me cancer anyway

7 Repliesdude, its a random legendary weapon of primary, special, or heavy. that is pretty awesome in my opinion. you could potentially land an awesome gun for absolutely free with no work on your part, wft more do you losers want? many people have scored something they like, which makes this freebie gift even more awesome. just because your luck sucks doesnt make bungie the bad guy, grow the fck up already. if mine turns into a gun, a mote, a coin, or ascendants i will be happy no matter what because it was gifted to me for nothing. wtf is there to complain about that? do you really expect bungie to just hand out ghorns and thunderlords to all you menstrual discharges like candy just to change your diaper because you refuse to wipe your own ass?

The problem is the game journalists and fanboys hyping the gear. Stop acting like a child because you didn't get what you want: game developers don't owe you presents.
-
I totally get what you're saying! But this whole game is based on random. There is no achievement or skill based rewards. I got a vex right? I got lucky. I wasn't the best player on that raid team so I didn't "deserve" it more than the others. So them giving us a random legendary is what they do. They couldn't think of a better reward system that would keep people playing. I totally understand though man... Me and a friend were talking about a video talking about destiny said that every exotic will have a story behind it like, this is how I got this... We were like, "our story is like this, we bought it from this dude who only shows up on Fridays."
-
Its amazing how many people replied with an insult. Its almost like they are getting paid by bungie. The thing I hate about this forum is that you arent allowed to have an opinion on the flaws of this game and you are to just accept it and say how wonderful the game is or otherwise you are ungrateful, whinny, or entitled child. I didnt think bungie had so many fanboys sucking on their teets.
-
All I see in the comments are "Spoiled little brat" And "entitled much" You all act like it took such hard work and effort for bungie to bring out this gift! You act like they had to bend backwards to give us something, it's the fact that they give us this weapon and half the weapons that people or even my self use are way better than something I will get out of that package when I open it, seeing as everyone just rolls nitC's and mg18's and secret handshakes and TDYD. you all obviously don't get it. Shit the fact of buying the dlc and getting the sparrow was more of special moment or gift then Christmas. What I'm trying to say is why not something special? Why not something that we can keep and show off? Just like he said, yea maybe another sparrow or Christmas shader not some weapon that is like everything in this game "based on luck" it's just pathetic and the fact that they posted about the gift way in advanced just to come out with this. It's nothing special I can already see I'm going to basically get energies
-
Mehh, sure I could complain. But why? Nobody wants to hear it anyways lol, plus I got a MG18A Harms Way heavy machine gun :) nothing to complain about there haha. Thanks Bungie, love the gift!
-
That's why I went back and played some good ol gears 3 and enjoyed gearmas. I like it when game development companies do fun and cool things for holidays, like a themed playlist or character visual mod for a short time. Doesn't have to be anything huge, just something small to make it fun.
-
I smell potatos
-
Be grateful they did anything for you. People like you who are ungrateful and complain about a FREE legendary weapon are the worst part of this community
-
2 RepliesStill better than my nightfall rewards! Lol
-
Not everybody celebrates Christmas and they didn't wanna side on a religious ideal. They technically didn't have to do anything
-
6 RepliesThe could have given us nothing you twat
-
lol
Little Obnoxious Light.
-
Good thing but they gave me a weapon I already had. Guess I'll break it down
-
Once upon a time, there was a company named Bungie. The end.

1 ReplyThe hate is funny but I get your point. I got 2 energy for Christmas cant -blam!-ing wait for next Christmas !!! 2 WHOLE MORE ENERGY SO PUMPED COUNTING DOWN THE DAYS.
