The best you could come up with for the first Christmas in destiny was a legendary heavy weapon?
really took a lot of thought there did it?
took the higher ups weeks to noodle it out?
Edit: what most of you seem to be missing in my comment is that this was pretty weak for the "first christmas in destiny". NO, they didn't HAVE to give anything, would have been better if they didn't at this point. They should have done something that players could show off later. Something that new players would see them with and say "how did you get that?"
"oh, this? i got this with the christmas strike, raid, event, etc. But you can't get it now, will have to wait till next Christmas."
Something that makes the players stand out a little. Something that would make players actually want to keep playing, besides the grind.
edit 2: ok, it seems many of you are totally missing the point of what i was trying to say (or maybe i just said it wrong).
My whole statement was that this "christmas gift" thing was a total let down and took no effort. I expected bungie to do far more for the first major holiday of destiny than just to hand out purple engrams. The games major tag line is- BE LEGENDARY- but i have seen little to nothing about this game that makes anyone legendary. There is nothing that allows me to invest anything into this game, no customization, no personalization, nothing that says 'i was here'. every guardian is cookie cutter. they proved this when they sold level 31 armor in the tower. they proved this when they made all the weapons from the VoG lower than the weapons they sell in the tower.

I wish Bungie didn't give me anything. Here is why: Bungie will use this as a tactic by claiming they do offer free content. I for one was very unhappy because they gave me a gun I already had. Call me ungrateful but why should I care what you think. If you are gonna give a gift to the people who continue to support this game, at least give them something great to talk about. Why does everyone have to receive the same package? I think they should have thrown in a few random stuff, a couple of exotics, some sparrows, faction marks, piles of coins. Just mix it up a bit. Bungie is the type of company who gives out $5 gift cards to everyone while we gave them $100 back. Don't even bother responding to this cause if you disagree, you are just a crybaby fanboy who got offended.

1 ReplyYou're a true idiot of you think they would do something amazing in this game, after how the lackluster the main game is.

For Christmas I asked Bungieclause for a proper story. All I got was a purple lump of energy. Dazed and confused I went back to Bungieclause to ask why I was given the purple lump. Why was I put on the naughty list I asked. Bungieclause replied " Because I am a non conformist. So everyone is on the naughty list. I will also celebrate Halloween more so than Christmas. Because Christmas is the devil." I gasped is disbelief as my once wonderful Bungieclause stripped away my pride, hope and love for all that is good. With darkness filling my mind and soul. I look forward to the biggest holiday of the year for 2015. Halloween. Where I can worship my wonderful master Bungieclause on his day.

2 RepliesGFY. You're the worst kind of person: whining about freebies, flooding up these forums with useless crap, starting the same damn thread that has already been started a hundred times. Just quit already, the destiny community doesn't need your kind round here

Edited by ezbeats1: 1/9/2015 4:26:08 AMI agree. Let everyone be grateful for a hastily given engram. If it's the thought that counts I don't think bungie put much thought into it. Don't want a handout, something fun to commemorate the occasion. In time when bungie finally "gets it" you and I will know.

2 RepliesThey gave the thought so shut up

2 RepliesEdited by Big E DMV: 1/7/2015 7:48:33 PMShut up you ungrateful fag. Bungie didn't have to give you anything. But yet you complain because you got a legendary weapon as a free gift? Smh

2 RepliesWhat did you expect? An exotic? Who really thought it would be more than a legendary?
-
1 ReplyWhen we all get this game we never expected to get gifts useless or not at least they try now stop complaining

2 RepliesEdited by Kazhooulte: 1/7/2015 8:05:38 PMNot going to lie, I atleast would have liked a Christmas Shader... I didn't open my gift yet, but seeing a lot of post saying it was a let down.

2 RepliesIf this were the 1400's I would be your ruler and I would kill you for being a whiny biatch.
-
1 ReplyI WISH bungie would flag your account and you'd never get any gift ever again. I'd give them $100 to make it so
-
1 ReplyStop complaining you bitch. They didnt have to give anything.

4 RepliesMan...I'm glad I don't know you in real life. Come over, hand you a present and then the second I hear you complain. BAM I'd kick you square in the nuts so hard, future generations won't have to deal with your whiny offspring.

Looks like an entitled brat that made a post that bungie was "late" giving the gifts. Sometimes idiots just can't be satisfied.

Its amazing what people find to whine about.

Another whiney entitled little brat.

1 ReplyEdited by WILLtheKILLA5: 1/8/2015 1:51:59 AM> OP gets something free > Complains about it.

2 RepliesI honestly wish they didn't give anything because people like you feel like your entitled to items

6 Replies*Angrily fixes bowtie* "Listen here you little sh!t" You sound like the kids who would swear death upon their parents because they got them the wrong colored iPad. I got a pretty nifty legendary shotgun and I'm happy with it. It seems you made it perfectly clear to everyone how you feel about your gift. What did expect? A special exotic that hardly anyone else has? A unique ship? I bet if bungie gave you Fate of All Fools for Christmas, you'd still be upset because it wasn't a Gjallahorn or whatever special item you still desire to have. You wanna be a real legend? A special unique snowflake? Go play a paper and pencil RPG like DnD or Skyrim with mods, you ungrateful d-bag.

It's rated T. What did you expect. Get out now.
-
You expect too much of bungie. They aren't what you think they are.

Edited by doZi: 1/8/2015 4:52:54 AMYou sound like you mean well enough. I feel where you're coming from, but (like I did) you might need to stop comparing different games based on your experiences playing them. PSO had holiday-themed lobbies, as well as holiday enemies that dropped special items. Trickster had the same kind of thing going on. I'm sure other games have as well. Could Bungie do it? Maybe. I didn't help create the game and have no experience in the industry, so I'm not really qualified to speak about the possibilities the game has. What I do know is that (like you, I'm sure) I am satisfied enough with the treat we have all been given, I appreciate that Bungie cares about its fans enough to actually show it, and I hope they continue to support and work on their game. Who knows, maybe they'll go all out for Valentine's Day or Easter or something. Edit: I'm also banking on some of this being a bit exaggerated. Free *legendary* gear (regardless of whether YOU need it or not) isn't a total let down for EVERYONE, which is what the post kind of implies. OP, let's actually have a conversation about this. Double Edit: Given that OP apparently doesn't want to discuss the issues he has, he is getting muted. Sorry for wasting your time, everybody.

Edited by Spaceman: 1/8/2015 2:01:36 AMLame gift... period. It was only gifted out to get lower level players to grind more just so they could use their shiny new legendary toy. It was pure marketing.... and for that I have the right to be disappointed and very unappreciative. Would of been happier to have the marks and commendations to buy a shiny new toy myself. Or next time, have Santa in the tower.. where we can all go and choose between 10 items.
