When I shoot you...
It's because I've found something you'll probably want.
Note - If you are easily upset, you may not want to read on. This post contains details of someone being a horrible bully.
Last night, on patrollings, I find a chest. RNGsus has been very kind to me recently, so I'll grab every chest possible.
I spot 2 guys with similar gamertags about 50 mteres away, obviously in a fireteam, and I think to myself 'Hey, wouldn't it be the friendly thing to do to alert those two guys to my find, one of them might get a nice present from it'.
Just being a thoughtful Guardian like so many others I have met.
So,
'CombatNun13 waves'
'CombatNun13 waves'
'CombatNun13 points'
Nothing. Fair enough, they haven't seen me.
So I shoot one of them.
He stops and turns to me. Then walks away.
I shoot the other one, who also turns to me. He sends a rocket my way. Explodings.
Still looking at me.
'CombatNun13 points'
Then I shoot the doorway to the room with the chest in.
Still looking at me.
Goes into pause menu.
'New message from (can't remember his name)'
'Stop it. We don't f***ing want to play with you'
Whaaa?
So from now on, I will wave and point. Then I'll shoot you. Then if you don't come over, I'll get the chest myself.
If you aren't familiar with this kindness, if a Guardian is waving or shooting you, take notice, they're probably helping you :)
It's just so tough being a good guy sometimes :/

I wave to try and get their attention, and then point at whatever I want them to see. What gets me are the folks that kill your sparrow as soon as you get off of it. Why? What pleasure do you get out of destroying something so easily replaceable? That being said, if you get so much pleasure out of it, then why not stand in a corner, and summon your sparrow, beat it to death, and re summon it continuously?

That same day a fire team following me around with one person shooting at me after I looted a chest after them. They left me alone after I left the zone. Not sure if just trolling or some how they felt offended by others being in the zone.

I'll wave or shoot once but not more after that

I shoot at the player 3 times to get their attention and the at the chest. If the shoot back or start to leave I just open it and move on.

People often when doing patrols or missions dont always care about loot chests. They often just want to do what they are doing as fast as they can. So find any attempt and friendleness annoying.. Sad but true about a lot of gamers of todays age.

I've gotten to only shutting a couple rounds with one wave. I no longer feel like waiting for people who aren't paying attention, or otherwise

My awoken female would be scared to go into cave with a stranger waving at it entrance. But when my character is only 16 (lvl) and likes shiny things..will probably go in anyway.

Some people man. It happens to me all the time. Sometimes though, guys will see me farming and join in. Other times, a guy will take a chest you point out and then farm in front of you screwing you out of every chest you should have gotten...sucks

A somewhat identical thing happened to me today up till the angry message. I was like 15 feet from a guy and on a building above him standing next to a chest. I pointed and waved and he pointed and waved back then I pointed at the chest, then I shot towards him then the chest (using hardlight theres no way he missed the direction of my shots) and he shoots back for a sec then runs away.... I pick up the chest and leave. I thought it was common knowledge when someone points or shoots that they are saying they found resources or a cheat. Oh well his loss.

That sort of thing happens to me all the time, my favourite farming location (the divide in old russia) has a couple of sneaky spots where chests spawn so I try to show others who are running around farming too but they either just shoot back at me or run off. I normally shoot then wave then point if they don't come over I just open the chest for myself.

Have you ever tried dancing I was with s guy today and we found at least 20 chests spawning with RNGesus try dancing

I used to try everything to convince someone where a chest is. But I just don't bother now, unless that person is a new player to destiny. I check their grim score if it is low I'll show them. Hell I'll even message them. Otherwise NO.

1 ReplyI've had so many dense mother-blam!-ers not understand that I'm trying to show them a damn chest! Seriously! Constantly waving, pointing, dancing, shooting and trying to get then to follow me only to be met with morons who just kept on trucking.

i had a guy shoot me , i was wtf so i ran to him , than he points o look a chest i waved and danced at him , then we ran around for 30 chest famring , it was good times, they dont always end in vain :)

Edited by Solvant: 11/27/2014 1:14:11 AMSame here. I think the biggest problem is that it's not that easy to get the little messages, espacially during firefights. Please keep up pointing, dancing, shooting (2-3 shoots) to get attention. I would have missed some chests without your help.

Yup, if they don't want it, their loss. I dance, point, shoot a round if need be. If they aren't interested, then no worries, chests spawn so fast, they can find their own

7 RepliesThere's this, which is fine, and then there is what happened to me. I'm a filthy smoker, and I don't always like to leave the world to go outside and smoke, so I find a nice high place where I won't prevent any spawns, but I won't get shot at either, and I dance. So I set up, and go smoke. When I come back, there is this warlock using his melee to forcefully push me across the map. I don't touch my controller yet because I am downright confused. All I hear is this "slap! Slap!" And the vibrating of my controller, and I see that I am already a good 50 meters away from where I was and this guy is just going to town! So I wait, still a bit in shock, as I see him start to push me in a door, I'm starting to think I may get -blam!- or something! Then I see it, a chest... This guy spent 10 MINUTES beating my character to take me to a chest when I was AFK. What if is have gotten shot on the way over?! Would this guardian defend my lifeless body?! So now there's a chest and this guy is pointing and dancing, and I'm still not moving yet, so he starts shooting me, grenade, super, etc... This is TOO MUCH people... No, the answer is no. Don't do it...

1 ReplyI try to do this if someone is close but most times they don't pay attention so I just continue on with farming. Today though had a lol moment. Was farming on earth and was sniping some dregs cross the way and accidentally shot another person who was meleeing the dregs I was shooting at lol.So they ran over to me and all I could do was wave. They stood there for a few seconds and then took off. They must have thought I found a chest or something lol.

I point twice and then dance. If they dont come by then I continue on my rounds and open the chests.

i try and do this too because we all know farming is a drag but yeah, usually its a stop, pause and then run off from the other party. oh well i tried. I wish we could point in specific directions. like point left or right or whatever.

It's common sense to me that if another player is going out of their way to get my attention then something of interest is nearby. I only turn people down when I get a legitimate message asking to play.
