Poll Answer 3

I legitimately do not understand why it is so cool to say -blam!- CoD. I understand its a twitch shooter with lots of Rambos rolling around but how on earth is that any different than Destiny? Just curious.

  • I don't like it because it does nothing new each year. Yeah, there are small additions here and there but they never shake up the gameplay too much. Plus the campaigns are generally crap. However, the billions it has made Activision has allowed Activision to fund Destiny. So silver linings and all that.

  • I'm not part of the mob yelling "go back to CoD" at people, but CoD-like play is annoying in any FPS. It's especially bad in Battlefield. Granted, I'm new to Destiny...but the CoD like play is much less of any issue here when compared to what's seen in BF4.

  • I don't hate CoD just I'm so competitive and it makes me mad when I die. I could go 27-1 and that 1 death is going to drive me insane lol. So I'll say screw this game I hate it but in reality I just hate that I died lol. CoD is fun sometimes. I enjoy it.

    • Same game year-in, year-out, terrible community, aimbots, modded UAV(always on), shooting through walls, quickscoping, ridiculous kill streaks, no true gun skill needed. Some reasons I dislike CoD.

    • CoD has sucked since CoD4 and has never been better than CoD2, yet Activision continues to pump them out, basically the same product, every year. I don't get why people still buy them. They went from fun, clean-cut FPS to a conglomeration of all the stupidest ideas of a community of children. The games are laughable now; the perks, equipment, and kill streaks have moved from the annoying to the absurd. I remember my friends and I sarcastically suggesting kill streaks for WaW to the Treyarch community manager one time we were playing with him, and one of us said attack dogs. Like, the stupidest, most cartoony thing we could think of. And a few months later, game comes out and bam, dogs. TL,DR the games have become a mockery and parody of themselves. CoD2 remains one of the best FPS games of all time.

    • I play it but, takes little skill and full of little kids and lag crazy. It is fun at times but maps and guns and just the load outs are becoming crap

    •
I understand its a twitch shooter with lots of Rambos rolling around but how on earth is that any different than Destiny?
How exactly do I qualify this question? How is it different than Destiny? Let's pretend I'm your mother or wife etc., there's zero difference, they are both video games. "Love you honey, have fun playing your Call of Destiny and your Duty Of Warfare". It's all perspective. But I guess I have to assume you want an actual analysis (from a gamer perspective) that you should be perfectly capable of by yourself. CoD is a franchise that started such a long time ago, way before the stereotypes forming, way before "LOL360NOSCOPE" . Since then, I believe a lot of people feel that the franchise has stagnated over its long life. A valid criticism that's often used is that there's been very little major developments in either Single Player or Multiplayer for the CoD franchise If it's not broke, why fix it right? You could also make this same criticism of the last 3 Halo games. A lot of the negativity seems to span from the gamer communities that formed around the popularity of CoD inside of XBL/PSN (to be fair Halo was really a precursor to this as well). Communities composed by what seems like mostly 12-14 year old boys that sound like an Eminem album dubbed by a chipmunk. Varies obscenities and vulgar comments about one's mother were had by all. Another stereotype is that traditional douchy jock CoD gamer reminiscent of Scumbag Steve who is chugging Mtn. Dew while raining down killstreaks all up in yo face. Combine that with sponsor tie-ins like Monster Energy drinks and promotions by junk food companies, and CoD/Halo kinda epitomized the modern gamer douche bag that has no skill or taste in games, buys the same re-hashed game every year, then grinds matchmaking mindlessly until the next shallow iteration. As I said earlier, Halo is also implemented but it became much less popular and as such, less criticized. Now for another fact. Most of the people I know that criticize CoD still play CoD every. single. year. Myself included. In that regard, sure its like Destiny, we're all criticizing and then logging on each weak like closet fanatics. But I don't see where the similarities are from there forward in terms of the gameplay. The PvP is not twitchy, or at least not by design. There are actual game impacting rewards. When in the hundreds of prestige hours of CoD do you get an actual reward that makes even the slightest alteration to your gameplay? The single player is also totally non-linear, it begins "in media res" and has no resolution, has rewards that go beyond the simple single storyline, has a multi-purpose raid etc. The voice chat is off by default, no one has invited me to a party to insult my mother. Totally different dynamic in terms of the player base in my opinion, they seem much older (at least the groups I've been apart of). So there's the analysis you could have done, all the reasons you already know. I guess you're a mom and these are both cute little video games with guns? bang bang

    • The only reason I don't like CoD is because it used to be good and they ruined it by making it appeal more to casuals. The map designs suck now, the spawn are randomized and closer to push "fast-paced action", the weapons literally have no recoil, there's way more OP weapons than any other shooter, there's kill streaks you can earn without being on a kill streak, etc. it's not the game I hate, I love CoDs gameplay, I just hate what it has become.

    • It's a re-skinned version of the same game every year. I've bought almost every Call of Duty except part 3. The multiplayer is fun, but requires little skill. Even if you are the "best" a new player can still managed to kill you. It was a different story in halo for example. 1v1, if you were better than the other player, you would dominate.

    • I just am a gamer that believes, if it ain't broke why fix it? Since WaW and CoD4 they've tried to implement way too much. Which I understand because not everyone wants the same thing every year. But he'll I've been buying Madden for so long just for a roster update. Back to CoD, I never thought that 3 equal killstreaks were a bad idea. It's cool to have more but for what? More things for people to say is OP and this needs nerfing, look at these forums for proof. CoD isn't bad, it's just recycled material.

        • When you are the biggest dog in the fight everyone is trying to take you down. It's as simple as that. COD is undeniably the biggest FPS in gaming and has been for about a decade. Not everybody likes it but those that prefer other FPSs often have to watch their beloved alternative turn into a ghost town every time a new COD comes out thereby killing their other options. The COD hate stems mostly from this loss. Let's face it, does anybody really care two cents about a game that they don't play? Of course they don't, that is unless that games existence is bringing the game that they do like down. Most folks instead of admitting this would rather talk about this mechanic in COD or the COD community but if you were being honest you'd find the same crap or something very similar in the game that you love. Why is that? Because COD is the standard by which all other FPSs are judged and they all try to incorporate COD elements into them. Funny you love your game right? Even though it tried to be COD with a twist? Yes you do and there's nothing wrong with that. But be honest with yourself.

          • Kids like to hate on stuff just coz it's cool. That is all there is to it. No reason CoD should be hated over some other annual franchises, but I guess since it's been bestselling for so long, it just needs some hating. While we're on the subject, -blam!- COD!!! or don't, don't really care either way...

          • My main reason is due to the recycled games
the companies must love the environment
Also I feel that call of duty was one of the original reasons for games becoming less story oriented and more focused on multilayer
after World at war
And the fact that everyone buys it just goes to prove that multilayer is what people want and I'm scared for future games.
titanfall for starters
• It's the biggest video game franchise in the world. That's it. I've met very few people who genuinely dislike the game for what it is and aren't just hating on it.

I have no interest in COD and couldn't care less. I've played the demos of WaW and MW3, not interested. Of course, everyone here who defends Destiny says the same thing: Anyone who doesn't like Destiny will go to COD in November. But my rebuttal is not important.
