Ok, so after explaining to my mom what i was doing tomorrow, she asked me "what game are you getting?" i told her "Destiny". All of a sudden her eyes got all wide and excited and started describing the game in detail. I said "yea, that one!" and out of no ware she asks me if she can play it and if we can play against each other? I then explain that yes we can but we can also play with each other. As I stand there confused and a little shocked. I began to describe how MMO's work. All it did was get her even more excited and started asking about how can she get it in the living room, as moving the XBOX to the living room is 100% out of the question. Now i think my mom wants to get an XBOX for the living room just so she can play Destiny. Mind you she's 64 years old!!! What have you done BUNGIE? You turned my mom in to a wanna be "Gamer".

9 RepliesEnjoy it. When I was a teenager, my mom complained about me wasting every cent I earned on playing those "stupid video games". It was disgraceful that I was throwing money away on games. Not long after that, I bought a TI-99/4A home computer and several AtariSoft games for it, among them Dig Dug, Ms Pacman, Donky Kong, Moon Patrol among others. Well, she finally got to watch me play those stupid video games at home (in stead of running off to the arcade). She didn't say much because I bought it with money I earned from working, but she still didn't like that I was wasting my money like that. Soon she began to tell me what I did wrong when I got killed, and tell me to "try this the next time". Then one morning, I woke up and heard something familiar in the living room. Click, click, click......Clickity, clickity click. "who is playing the computer?" was all I could think. I was puzzled because I was the only one who ever turned it on. I walked to the living room and stood at the door and was floored to see my mom playing Dig Dug, with the sound turned all the way down. I realized I was grinning from ear to ear, and I asked "Why don't you turn it up so you can hear it?" She jumped and reached over and turned it off and said "I was just trying something". I told her she didn't have to turn it off, but I think it embarrassed her. Well, she eventually agreed to play a game with me and that was the start of it all. She fell in love with video games (of that time) and she could flat out play me on Moon Patrol. My mom passed a few years ago, but I will never forget those moments and the fun we had playing games together. It brought out a fun "kid" side of her that I had never seen.

The last videogame my mom played with me was Mario Kart: Double Dash. Good times. After the games I played started to require another joystick for the camera angle she stopped playing :/

4 RepliesLove the idea of Family's playing together...♥ I think thats totally Awesome ... Considering I am a Mom and Grandmother of 2. And a Hardcore gamer since I was 15... ( putting Quarters in the Arcade Games... You know, before the personal game consoles like the Odysssey,Ping-O-tronics, Atari, etc.) In fact, You can thank us older folks for making the game world what it is today ~ with out our love, time and dedication to the gaming World... You could have still been playing Pong and Break-out... LOL
