• Don't really know why it just seems that something's are meant to be a girl and some are meant to be a guy ex. My hunter is a human female and my titan is a human male and my warlock is a exo male it just seems right for those classes don't know why

So I can live my fantasy to be a girl.
how about trying to make our fellow female players uncomfortable with unprovoked and unwanted attention you just play the game.
• They want to trick others. However what is more interesting is why they want to trick others. They are so lonely and depressed they would get a kick out of anything that makes people feel the same way so they can avoid the inevitable realization of what they think of their lives. M

    • For many years now I've seem this exact question inevitably turn up in forums (on a near-daily basis) for online game worlds. The reasons individual users have for selecting their characters are varied, but it all comes down to choice — as in "it's 100% their choice, not yours". Nobody is "impersonating" women and to imply such is somewhat insulting & self-absorbed — these are all just virtual avatars, which do not necessary correspond to the real world Or do you assume that users playing as dragons, cats, aliens, slices of intelligent chocolate birthday cake (really!), etc. actually exist also? So simply put, people can play as whoever they choose to be, and need answer to no one about their selection. From the many years (7+) I've been using PlayStation®Home, there's been one universal truth: the users asking this very question are nearly always disgruntled guys desperately trying to pick up a girlfriend/partner. You do understand that Destiny is not a dating service, right (nor is any other online gameplay universe)? But if that's what you want to use your console for, you just bought yourself an expensive doorstop. (Most) users are not online to be the subject of anyone else's sexual amusement. Just have fun, make friends, enjoy the game. If you're meant to be with someone, it'll happen on it's own accord. It's not impossible, but it shouldn't be your primary driving focus. Myself, I've met some terrific people over the years, made a few very close lifelong friends, and even met someone I adore beyond comprehension. I certainly wasn't looking nor expecting it… Oh, btw, more often than not I personally prefer to play as female characters. Why? Because. Sometimes it's due to control issues, or because I find the males avi designs just too horrid for words. But overall it's because I think rather highly of women — they're intelligent, beautiful, and can do anything. Unlike most males I've run across in game universes, whose actions & words often make me embarrassed to be the same gender. I always inform new people I meet that I'm male just in case it matters — and if does, if all they care about is my avi's design, we're unlikely to speak again. (Not like I hide who I am — my ID does say "Baron" not "Baroness"; you'd be amazed how few recognize the difference). Of course, there is one other reason I've not mentioned yet for playing as female. If I'm going to be investing weeks, months or years staring at a tush on my 55" HDTV, I'd prefer it to be a nice one I wouldn't mind staring at for the duration (no disrespect intended; quite the opposite). Hopefully this will give the OP some slight insight into this phenomenon.

This is always an annoying oddity. Makes us look more like them. Why does everyone, I mean EVERYONE, attempt to be something that is rather the mirror of themselves? • Well my warlock in the beta was a female, but just cuz I thought the armor looked better at the time. My hunter will probably be female now. Anyway, I have one female character just because I want to experience everything the game offers, plain and simple.

I played as a female Titan. There is nothing wrong with it. In a gaming world where the vast majority of protagonists in video games are males, I thoroughly enjoy the notion of being able to play as a female character whenever the option is present and it truly broadens my sense of gaming equality. Being able to appreciate female video game characters gives me a better perspective of women in general. I have several female gaming friends in my friends list and a beautiful girlfriend. I have a huge amount of respect for them all. They [gaming women] put up with a lot from immature male gamers who constantly harass them. Moreover, if I hadn't played a female soldier in Mass Effect, I probably would have missed out on Jennifer Hale's exceptional voice acting and that would have been the greatest of shames upon me.

          • In my opinion when i olay rpg games i always pick male and its the idea of trying something new, so its not the same, maybe a different game but still its something new when i play destiny im going by warlock exo titan awoken male and hunter female its something new man, but why does it mean im a chick the worst was playing on cod and my character is female and i get msgs of dudes trying to hit on me why does it matter if its a female or male playing a game were all gamers, we do not hold the remotes with our genitalia

          • Everyone is missing one key point - All of these impersonators knew at character creation that their female avatar would constantly get hit on, and that they would be projecting a female persona to thousands of others that they interact with. I know alot of 'newbie's that make a female character because they like the appearance, and quickly change genders back to male after getting hit on a few times. It's very different from the guys that play a female character and endure the attention indefinitely. After playing many online games over the years and observing these individuals - I have come to believe that many (not all) of them are very lonely and enjoy the attention in a sick way.

            • Sometimes armor looks better other times for a change to always hearing the gritty action hero male voices, in general just for abit of a change.

            • I chose a female character, simply because I'm sick of always playing male characters in games. I also think a warlock class is more suited to a woman and titan and hunter to men. I am also married to a beautiful wife, some folks just have their own preferences...

              • Yeah it's not a big deal videogame chicks are attractive so those who don't feel as if they 'are' their avatar actually build a sort of virtual relationship with this attractive woman. If they do feel as if the 'are' their avatar then well that's weirder but still not a big deal.

                • I don play as a female, but female protagonists are fkn badass. Simple as. This should never be a question that needs to be asked. The question should be why do people feel the need to hit on a digital character in a computer game? Because it's what it comes down to.
