1 ReplyWhy do you want to play as a dude? Ya want an extra D&$# in your life? It's all good lad, there's no harm done in either decision.
-
Because that's how I become legend.

My first Beta character was a male eso titan and my second was a female human hunter. Why? Because I'm trying to create a Hero (not myself) that fits with some abilities (titan, hunter, warlock). I can't imagine a female character as titan because I see titans as big guys with tough and heavy armory, but I see girls like skinny and sneaky so they match perfect with the hunter class. Now, maybe some guys see it differently and think females should be titan and guys hunter but, we try to create a hero for our story, not ourselves.

As bungie said in one of there trailers it's not who you are but who you want to be so let people play whatever race class and gender they want
-
When I play I don't make myself, I make the character who's viewpoint I want to explore the game from. I'm not impersonating a robot if I pick the Exo, It's purely aesthetic. All of my characters were male except for the Hunter I made in the Beta. The shape seemed more sleek and I could imagine the character I created forging her path through a new and unexplored planet. I'm Me every day. I play video games to be something else.

If I were a chick, I'd be staring at my own boobies all day.
-
So, if I pick an Awoken person does that mean you'll accuse me of trying to be a Smurf? This gag is getting so old, online characters aren't always meant to be a reflection of self kid.

Making a female character =/= impersonating a female I thought that male characters in general looked So. Goddamn. Boring. That's all there is to it. Awoken females had some interesting haircuts at least.

I like to just let the controller sit there and wait until the camera starts doing circles around my character and I bust a nut to that #knucklebabies

2 RepliesEdited by Facelessbushman: 8/23/2014 8:59:31 AMYou're name is chobo, a giant bird monster. Why do you want to a chick so damn bad? Edit: damn I was thinking chocobo. Joke withdrawn.

When picking a character i look at their armor and see which i like best. Most male armor just looks bad yet female outfits look nice. But it also differes on the class i choose, male warrior, female archer, male tank, female mage, male thief, female ninja, male robot, female anthro, etc. I'm also for the not wanting to stare at a guys butt all the time, i like women and thus would rather look at them (even though they're virtual). Lastly i would to ask you this. Would you want to be stuck in a room of nothing butt guys, that's a giant sausage fest right there. Like in Halo when there's tons of male spartans in the lobby I'll switch to female.

I would rather stare at a woman than a guy. Plus smaller character model=harder to hit

1 ReplyEdited by Delta: 8/23/2014 3:14:02 AMI know I for one create a character that I want to see going through the adventure of the game. It's like asking why does a male author have female main characters? They just imagine their character as a female, and female characters can be equally as badass as a male character. Take Laura Croft for example; female character and a total badass. The creators of that game could have easily gone with a male character, but aren't we all glad they didn't? Also, girls play as male characters and no one freaks out about that. In my opinion I also believe certain classes in games look better as females than as males or vice versa. As far as destiny goes, I see making a human female hunter, male exo titan and undecided whether to make a female or male awoken warlock.

5 RepliesAfter reading a lot of your replies, it always boils down to blaming the female avatar for provoking the response. Rather then shifting the focus onto the people who believe this type of attitude is the right one. No one should have to worry about picking what ever character they want due to getting uninvited / unwanted attention. Respect people's choices.

Don't take this the wrong way but I'm muting you.

5 RepliesDo the words "gender identity" mean anything to you? Sex vs gender aside, you are clearly one of the men who randomly tries to hit on female characters in games (which is creepy as -blam!- by the way) and then if it happens to be a guy (or someone with a male voice) you get offended. Which, by the way is like the number one transphobic trope and a very real reason why transwomen get MURDERED in real life. So yeah, majorly horrible opinion.
-
2 RepliesSo my character can be my character. Not a virtual impersonation of myself.
-
Because maybe I want to be a woman. What? You got a problem with that? *cracks knuckles menacingly*
-
5 RepliesI mean, it really depends on the race for me. I am a female in real life, yet a decent amount of RPG/MMO characters I make are male. Why? Because you get less harassed as a male first of all. Two, if I'm going to tank, I want to look the role. I want to be beefy with heavy Armour. If I'm going to play as an elf, I'm going to make a male bc lord of the rings. In Destiny, I plan to make my humans female because I want it to be like me plus I'm going to play warlock, and I find the badassery and intelligence and grace of females to be fitting. If I'm playing as an Exo, it's probably going to be a male because I imagine robots as bulky plus it is going to be a titan so it needs to be bulky anyways. The gender I pick for Awoken completely depends on what I plan on making their class. If it's a hunter I would make them a male because the awoken remind me of elves and like I said, Lord of the Rings. If I'm going to make them a Warlock, they would be a female for the previously listed reasons. Actually, I think even if I chose hunter for awoken, I might still chose female because of their grace, badassery, and I associate small stature with agility. It's a ROLEPLAYING GAME, and if I chose human female for every single class, I don't think I would be able to really get in to my role.

Uhh I'd rather stare at a chicks ass in the Tower than a dudes
