I never understood that whole process. I always play as if putting myself in the game. TO each there own though. If they are having fun it really doesn't matter whether anyone else likes or understands their decision...

Mine is because I assign myself with the female gender. Alot of gamers do it because they look better. If your a guy there sexy to watch in cinematics. There armour usually looks better/not as bulky (fat). Some people think it gives the enemy a smaller thus harder target to hit. Plus many more that are more logical, weird and stupid but it doesn't hurt anyone so why not?

Because I don't get a "no gender" option. @op I like the way females portray the hunter and warlock classes. I guess the female Titan looks like samus which is cool too. (robot here)

Because it's a game, you can be whatever you want. I'm pretty sure I'm not a blue human with glowly eyes but I like to play as it in Destiny. :) (by the way I use male characters only also)
