Hi fellow Guardians,
I could use some help correcting an Xbox account link issue on my Bungie profile.
I picked up an Xbox One 1–2 years ago and set it up using my personal Microsoft account for Store purchases. That account is different from my older Xbox 360 era Xbox account. Because of that setup, the wrong Xbox account ended up associated with my Bungie profile when I tried Destiny 2 on the Xbox One.
Months later, when I got an Xbox Series X, I set it up with my proper legacy Xbox account, the one I actually want to use for Destiny 2. That’s when I found out I couldn’t link it to my existing Bungie profile, and I also couldn’t unlink the incorrect one because I had already missed the 2025 cutoff without knowing it existed.
I’ve worked around this by playing on Steam (my main platform) and even using a separate Bungie account on the Series X, but without cross save it hasn’t been ideal. I own both Xbox accounts and their emails and have for decades. I also removed Cross Save more than 90 days ago, but that didn’t resolve the issue.
I’m requesting help removing the incorrect Xbox account so I can attach the correct one. I’m completely fine with the wrong account being removed or even blocked from linking, since it was never meant to be used anyway, and I don’t want to disrupt my actual Xbox account history by switching my console to a different identity.
If I can get some help on this topic, I’d be very grateful. I’m aware of the cutoff for public unlinking.
Thank you!

1 ReplyHi there. As of March of last year, it is no longer possible to unlink accounts (excluding Twitch) and there are no workarounds. Bungie's policy is that they will not forcibly remove or unlink an account under any circumstances.
