Why do you play destiny and why PVE/PVP?
Your motivation?
Your madness?

1 ReplyPVP, PVE used to be fun and raids were better in D1 where you felt powerful.

PvE most of the time. I'm a comparatively recent player. I've had (and still have) lots to catch up on from all the DLC. Campaigns are mostly done, and I am working my way through some of the other bits and pieces. I find PvP too fast for my reflexes, and I spend a large part of a match dead. I try every once in a while, but it's just not for me.

PvP! it's more engaging & entertaining than PvE. Once you've learned an encounter or GM or whatever pve based it's easy to beat & becomes stale quickly

I play both. PvE is my main. I have learned to do well enough and understand how to handle/ play PvP to dip into it sometimes. I will play PvP if there’s rewards I care about and to break up the PvE side of things. The story gameplay is what draws me to video games, and I have never really gotten into PvP centered games.

1 ReplyPvE overall by far, but I will occasionally venture into PvP.
-
1 ReplyI prefer both, but pvp is my evergreen content, and pve just isn't what it should be anymore. So push comes to shove, and it has, pvp, but if they can ever get their heads on straight again, I'd love to go back to pve/pvp

5 RepliesIf pvp is good, the entire game benefits

I go back and forth, I like PvE but when I got bored PvP offer something different, and when I’m tired of loosing I go back to PvE.
-
Both. I prefer PvP bc I mostly play solo, but PvE is fun to just play with clanmates

5 RepliesDestiny would not have survived had it not been for PvP, being the one truly unique and replayable experience that differs every match. This though requires a relatively balanced meta. Destiny would not be what it is now without PvE. Simply put, you need both for Destiny to be successful. It’s both of these that make Destiny what it is too.

9 RepliesDefinitely pve…. PvP can be ok in very small amounts… it’s definitely not a game any sane and normal person would play for PvP

3 RepliesYou don't have to ask. Just look at the daily numbers **Overall:** 543.55k **PvE:** 513.61k **PvP:** 111.64k **Gambit:** 31.80k **Raid:** 79.97k

8 RepliesEdited by GradeMyGuardianTTV: 2/28/2025 3:48:02 PMMy recent motivations for PVP- Pinnacles to get to Endgame PVE Faster Tinasha's Mastery Tusk of the Boar . That's it. I jump into Iron Banner, pull my Pinnacles, then call it. Anything I accomplish has turned into the previously aforementioned weapons, and I now have godrolls & variants of each. . I have no motivation for PVP as there's nothing for Endgame PVE in it for me. Those who like D2 PVP have clearly never played another FPS or true PVP game. Yes D2 has great movement within the classes, that gives it a really unique feel, but the ability spam & -blam!- hit reg are a joke in the realm of competitive FPSes. I say this having sunk thousands of hours into other truly competitive PVP franchises over my 20 years of gaming. Again, Destiny's movement is unique, but the actual mechanical side of the game beyond movement is unrewarding & inconsistent. Go play Apex, Valorant or Overwatch if you want a true Ability Shooter with aim skill demands. Go play COD, PUBG or Counter Strike if you want gunplay. Destiny has a muddled identity that reduces the competitiveness drastically.

PVE because I don’t find any enjoyment being just a target for better players in pvp

8 RepliesI can't imagine playing this game just for 1 or the other... Maining a primarily PVE game with a side of PVP as a pvp main seems insane. The lack of attention, updates and love... on the flip side, if there wasn't PVP, the PVE in this game while fun at release gets stale pretty quickly ... and with how easy PVE is now; no point in 'farming' new loot except to get better rolls to use in PVP where rolls can actually make a difference.

Both i like playing destiny, it's cool
-
PvP. I’m chasing perfection and one day I will be a top scrim player

I personally dabble in a bit of both depending on the mood...I hit pvp hard during the iron banner but only during banner(and it's usually just to get the shader) pvp is just boring to me otherwise...I don't do raids or dungeons very often the rewards just aren't worth the effort unless I can get craftables, that makes what few runs I do worth something (exotic RNG is so low I stopped caring and it's going to rot in my vault anyway)...but I love gambit it's the only thing I consistently play... vanguard stuff is just sad not worth it even the nightfall guns don't do it for me....if a few more activities had matchmaking I would have a lot more to do but that's not the case unfortunately...
