Hey Guardians,
Brand new player here who started a few hours ago. I used to play day one of D1 but stopped playing like 5 or 6 years ago.
So what would be the best package to buy if I decided to into it?
My aim is to max my hunter asap and get into the PVP, what would be the fastest option for me?
I am not so keen on the story although I am sure its nice. Doing raids would be nice too of course but my initial aim is to have fun in multi
So what would be the best expansion to buy and what would be the best way to grind to max or adequate?
All advice is welcome
Thank you.

Fastest way to get xp is 1 put 12% xp boost on your ghost 2 seasonal challenges 3 bounties 4 playlists after 5 in a row for max xp

STAY AWAY.😂😂 You will thank us later

Please don’t play Destiny for its pvp…… because you’ll be in here complaining how unbalanced and crap the matchmaking is and how broker this gun is and how titan/warlock/hunter ability needs nerfing and we have enough of that already.

1 ReplyFirst thing to remember is that you'll be disappointed. Second thing to remember is that you're going to be disappointed. And lastly, you are definitely going to be disappointed.

I agree with Wither413 wait for holiday sales. The game has a lot of content but its more important to play current content then past; it gives you relevant weapons and gear. Depending on you time constraints I would recommend creating all 3 different classes eventually. They help you level up between seasons really fast, but duplicates of characters will not have those pinnacles leveling rewards(i.e. if you make two titans), plenty of guides on how to power level on YouTube (it does sometimes change). Don't get hung up on seasonal challenges, your starting late in the season and a lot of things you might night have access to or will be able to do until next. Most importantly have fun try stuff out like raids and dungeons. They are definitely some of the best highlights in the game.

I'm going to answer your question, but I have a big warning/disclaimer at the end. Buy Lightfall only. Wait until November to buy anything else (holiday sales). Don't bother buying Forsaken... it isn't a campaign anymore. The Legacy Collection contains Shadowkeep, BeyondLight, and WitchQueen (if you want all the available campaigns, this is the least expensive way to get them... don't buy them individually). Level quickly by stacking bounties. For example: Go to all the destinations and buy any "kill enemy" "get kills with" type bounties. Pick up gunsmith bounties. Then grab the Vanguard bouties from Zavala. Then launch Vanguard ops. If you load into a strike in the EDZ, check which edz bounties you will be able to complete. Often, In one strike, I can complete a couple Vanguard bounties, a couple destination bounties, and maybe a gunsmith bounty. The most xp comes from seasonal challenges, so make sure you are checking those... you can often work on those while working on bounties. Checkout destinyrecipies.com ; they have a tool that will help you prioritize activities that will help you increase your power level efficiently. Now for the warning/disclaimer: I'm happy you are enjoying D2. However, a lot of us vets are very unhappy. D2 is heavily monetized during a time when the game is highly unstable, and the content has not been satisfying. Don't spend a ton of money at once... you might end up regretting it. Buy Lightfall, do everything you can with it, and then decide if you want to buy another piece of content. I don't want you to quickly buy a bunch of stuff and later regret it. Spend a little time scrolling through these forums. You'll see what everyone is so angry about. Use that information to help you decide how much money you want to spend (if any) on this game.

Don't bother. Easy peasy.
-
Just quit now and save your sanity.

Stop, no, and don't. I don't recommend this game to my friends, let alone to you. Unless you want to pay $300+ for all the content, play a broken mess sandbox that is PvP rife with cheaters and poor connections. Uninstall, find another game. You'll be happier and richer in the long run.

Best way to grind? Do the same stuff over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over. That's destiny in a nutshell

I wouldn't start now were I you pal. I've been at Destiny since October 2014 and I've watched the game turn from a decent grind shooter into a corporate greed fest, run by flakes, who outside of beyond light and witchqueen have made more and more substandard content that has far too much repeat rather than proper story missions and new places to explore freely. I'm only staying now coz I've been here this long, I'm gonna see it out and there certain things about d2 I still like. Its a fun game but has way missed out on its true potential.

You’re going to climb rather fast to 1750, then you’re going to need 6 months running the same 3 pinnacles every week to get to the cap. And you better be willing to add a few hundreds to your purchase if you want to have access to a few more pinnacles. Then you’ll need friends who will want to carry you through everything. Welcome!

Just buy all of it.

Get armory pack and lightfall standard edition
Actually don't; escape this dumpster fire while you still can
Only ever buy stuff if it's extremely discounted. None of it is worth it at full price.

You should get the ultra giga deluxe edition to help save the world from the evil witness lady. You’ll just need to provide your credit card number, expiration and three digits on the back; only then will you have enough loot and xp boosts to stop the darkness once and for all.
-
The best way to play is to not dive to deep into pvp. Play it for fun and not to be competitive. Don't spend too much time grinding because there is no reward for playing pvp. Take your time and enjoy don't burn urself out.
-
I’d definitely get the most recent dlc and maybe Witch queen as for grinding levels, bounties for exp, and running LF legend campaign will get you 1770 gear then it’s just running all the powerful and pinnacles every week. The LF raid is 1770 and will give you the biggest boost it’s also not that hard and pretty easy to learn.
-
Welcome, I recommend the most recent addition. It's not the best story but it's decent content
-
Pretty sure dares of eternity is free. It has some of the better loot. I use a lot of weapons in pvp so I don't focus on what's meta or not, but dares has some of my favorite weapons to use
-
Just get lightfall standard...play the main story and pvp...get the bounties....that's actually all u need to do... If you not wanna play.trials just buy nothing...play the free version
