My god, Overload Captains are Horrendous

Just play todays master last sector. Absolutely awful experience. An enemy that teleports erratically, extremely sggressive with high damage output, only remains stunned for a few seconds, and if you dont manage to kill it in that brief window it rapidly heals to full health. What a terrible addition.

  • They only recharge health if you dont stun them when they can be stunned again. And they are easy to stun and kill fast when stunned.

    • My Dad told me he was playing a grandmaster, with two other people, and they were all shooting an overload champion, stunning them multiple times, and they just teleported. Balanced

    • The main problem with overloads in my eyes is how much they teleport with the delay on the stun of champions. they can teleport behind cover and you wont have the time to do damage before they regen if other ads are around.

    • Champions are awesome, I've never done a GM nightfall (Don't think so anyway) but having an enemy that you are told about ahead of time how to take out (seasonal mods or exotics with perks) and failing to be able to take them down is a personal problem, not a game problem. I can't even count the times I've went into a NF and I was the only one with mods, it's not so common anymore, but it used to be really bad. Knowing the layout and the spawns goes a long way to being prepared for encounters. My only gripe about the situation is that they added the mods to exotics as perks and moved the equippable seasonal mod from the weapon to arms, So instead of being able to use decent arms mods we are stuck using 1 or 2 arm seasonal mods. I wish they never moved them to arms.

      • Yeah overloads are broken on consoles. Sometimes they will work as intended, but most of the time they have coding issues. It’s very surprising that this core aspect of the game has not been fixed yet.

      • Try rhe Glassway GM. 4 of them come at you togeether with the mini boss. Absolutely stupid. I have done many GM's and can't get over the inconsistency of how hard they are to kill... some are relatively easy, others are impossible.

        • Champions are buggy AF. People keep claiming they are not, but I have a plethora of GM horror story's because of these mofos. Imagine shooting a champion and stunning them only to have them 1s later start shooting while they are still supposed to be stunned. These guys have issues with breaking out of stuns. It really hurts even more when you are forced to wait out the stun plus it's cd only for it to Regen it's health. It's like dropping crota only for him to get up mid damage phase and send your @$S to the moon.

          • IMO, Minotaurs are worse as they charge you like unstoppables AND teleport while doing so. I think overloads do need to be looked at as they seem very inconsistent. Sometimes they are not an issue while other times they are a PITA. As for champions overall I don't have any issues with them so long as the mechanics for dealing with them work consistently.

          • Learn to counter them. It’s seriously not hard. - overload hand cannons this season, use an explosive hand cannon so you only need 2 shots to stun. Fatebringer or seraph hc will work great. - anarchy is a king when fighting them, but if no anarchy that’s fine just use xeno, deathbringer, sleeper or 1k. There are a lot of decent heavy options. - use the burn to your advantage in the lost sector. void? use top nova and contraverse. The grenades are really strong. Solar? Xeno is a powerhouse in damage. Arc? Anarchy or wardcliff are nice picks. - tapping your overload weapon every few seconds will stop the regen. So don’t waste the entire mag at once. Just stun, damage and tap. Keeping overload shots on the champions will stop regen. These champions are not hard to beat, it’s you who is making them hard (it may be hard to hear this). Taking time and learning the counters and using strategies will easily beat them. Trust me I’ve done A LOT of gms and lost sectors.

          • You need to use a 180 hand cannon because 3 shots stuns them. I don’t recommend a submachine gun because you have to shoot one whole mag to stun.

          • Lost sectors are a joke anyway. Did 12 yesterday on master for 2 rewards. Not worth the time anymore.

          • Champions really need to be fixed up with interaction. Overload mods need to trigger on first bullet. Fix the champion being re-stunned after stasis. Fix the speed at which barriers start to regen after the shield is up (also not putting them where they can fall off behind cover). And having Unstoppables actually stun when hit. If end game is going to have these as a difficulty it should be the enemies and mechanics they operate around. Not the bugs they create

                Champions in general are horrendous. I hate them with a fiery passion that burns with the heat of a 1000 suns… Most loadout restrictive, non creative, key/door, artificial difficulty modifier I’ve seen in nearly any game. ☠️ On a constructive note; If champions are staying: Make the mods universal. All types, all Guns. Challenge being what Gun works best for which champions. Put mods on ghosts, not arms which destroys synergy as loadouts for reloads/melee/grenade perks are wrecked because of this, and you then sacrifice glimmer/legendary/xp tiers as a trade off. Special mods can rotate on artifact. Like Breach and Clear, disruptor, etc, and only one can go on ghost as well. Similar to current with 2-3 slots that were on arms and 1 like for class items. THIS could be weapons or special abilities. So ghosts, not armor for mods. Stops loadout synergy destruction. Speaking strictly for myself, as I know some peeps like champions, this is the ONLY solution I would find tolerable. Master VoG is horrible and my LL 1352. I’ve only bothered once after saying no 100x cause I hate champions. In general if loadouts for endgame content are constantly going to be restricted to 3-4 arbitrary guns per season (loadout diversity my ass as EVERY season has had a hand cannon variant) then I may be done with end game content. It part of why I took a long break, only came back because they dropped Sunsetting. I have SO MANY great guns in my vault I don’t dare take into high level endgame because of this stupid key/door BS and the game suffers for it. Please help me love endgame again, Bungie? Pleeeaase?!? 🥺 Edit: Other than a couple constructive comments with tweaks to my ideas for champions, I really don’t get why most peeps are fighting this… I want everyone to have agency in how they approach engagements and to be able to retain the synergy they’ve spent hours or more grinding for on armor that’s completely wrecked by having to slot mods on that armor. Why is that a hard thing to get? 🤨

                • Champions in general, was one of the absolute worst additions to this game. Bungie once again forces yet another playstyle that shouldn't be forced. It would be less enraging if you didn't have to equip specific weapons for those perks, but I'd prefer them to be taken out of the game altogether, though we all know they'll never change that. Overload is the worst of the worst. A game activity that only awards an incredibly slight CHANCE of getting specific gear should never be riddled with this kind of crap. I barely touch this game now because of stuff like this. I play videogames to have a good time, they should never be overly difficult. Anyone that thinks they should, well, isn't the point of loot drops to become all powerful? It kind of defeats the purpose trying to force this crazy level of difficulty. It isn't even feasible to make things forever difficult from a design perspective. There has to be a cap somewhere, and beyond that if people don't like it? Well, too bad. That's just how it goes. The best way to challenge one's self, is to just do something, or play something completely new. Companies burn themselves to the ground trying to make everything a pointles "forever chase" Bungie is doing really well at that.

                    I just decided to not participate in this bs. Maybe there is a lot of content in this game but I cant play 80% of it after work cuz my ass is hurts and I cant find party to play. Of course I can spend like 30 min for searching it in discord but there are games where I can go smoke for 1 min and game will find party for me. So you know what I do with overload champions and all that crap? Just exit this game and launch another one, like warframe or COD or Overwatch. Bungie care about theirs principals more than they care about money. GJ

                  • I think overload minatuors are the worst. We figured out last night to put the stasis dust field grenade on them and they are easier to lock in place to keep stunning them
