Seriously, this is kind of scummy. There have been at least a half dozen seasonal challenges that have not counted what you've already done. Why do this? Why not count Infamy and Valor resets from the Beginning of the season, kills, champions, missions? Now, there's one to run Presage three times, when I've already run it like 15 times. This is nothing more than adding artificial grind in order to pad the playtime numbers, and it's scuzzy. Stop doing it.

2 RepliesWorst part is all of them are already in the game. So they could be tracked. If you look at Braytech.org you can see week 10s already. Been able to do that since week 1. Week 10: ... The Harder They Fall Defeat Cabal Boss and Champions in the Proving Ground Strike 0/20 Explosive Conclusion Use a Rocket Launcher or grenades to defeat combatants anywhere in the system. Bonus progress for rapidly defeating them and for defeating Cabal. 0/600 Lenses in Focus Go to the Prismatic Recaster and discover how to unlock more lenses. 0/15 In Your Element Defeat Guardians in the Iron Banner with Elemental takedowns. Earn bonus progress for Stasis takedowns. 0/80 Warrior from Beyond In strikes, defeat combatants with elemental final blows. Earn bonus progress by defeating combatants with Stasis. 0/300

2 RepliesI agree with this. Either release all of tge challenges at the same time and keep non retroactive challenges hidden until its time to avoid future spoilers in the season's story...or make them retroactive from the start
-
I like the ones that require you run specific game modes that aren't active simply because they were only active during the week that challenge was introduced. This is sarcasm. I'm sure some of you will have issues with it.

4 RepliesEdited by VegetativeST8: 4/7/2021 3:14:52 PMJust wait, Guardian Grind... err I mean Games... is coming soon. If you killed champions on Monday night when you had time to play.... too bad....they don't count, cause it's Tuesday afternoon now. So much for doing things within the season, on your schedule as a player. All by design and very "Scummy"... Edit: For those saying it is your choice to play or not, fair enough...my response: I did play, and already did that stuff within the season, not just because of the challenges. I did it when I had time to play, not when Bungie artificially set up a time window for me to do it. That was what they said the purpose of the seasonal challenges was... eliminate the FOMO of weekly bounties and monotony of repeated bounties. How does this seasonal model do that again? Another obvious disconnect: If it is just about playing the game during the season - Why did my three Tier 3 engrams count retroactively, but not my 2 Gambit resets? Or my Champion kills all season? Resetting Gambit or Valor is actually a seasonal (and "Career") Triumph. Previously 2 - 5 gambit matches was needed to complete two weekly bounties. 3 matches still generate a pinnacle reward. Resetting ranks and 5 matches are not equivalent activities. Those tier 3 focused engrams require 15 Hammer charges and having previously unlocked a Tier 3 engram. Lots of battleground and you are limited to claiming 2 engrams per week. How do you even finish it in a single week? Answer: Retroactive credit. Why one challenge but not the other? Sounds like a fair question to me.

Next week you have to get 80 elemental kills in Iron Banner. I finished IB on all three of my Guardians last time it was up and killed way more than 80 but there's zero chance any of that will count. So yes these non-retroactive challenges are bs.

6 RepliesI agree. Either roll-out all the challenges for the Season at once, or stop calling them “Seasonal”. If they are weekly, fine,...but then make them achievable within the week. The whole concept is really trash as a week-over-week activity add-on. Might as well make them Bounties.
-
You know they have some white board outlining the challenges and the expected time to complete where they've mapped out which week to slot a given challenge in order to maximize expected play time throughout the season. For me, I hit week 5 and saw the "In It For Infamy" challenge, and said "-blam!- it".
-
2 RepliesAll that effort put into making these challenges when they could've simply tripled the requirements and rewards of weekly bounties and made them account wide.
-
Edited by MannixRockford: 4/8/2021 5:28:20 PMYep. I like the challenges bit, it's much better than the weekly bounties crapfest. But adding requirements after the fact is proper sh!te. They're "seasonal" challenges, which means the tallies for effort on any time gated challenges should start on day 1 of the season. Me thinks it's all about keeping people logging in for longer than necessary, and nothing at all about the player experience being remotely worthwhile. That kind of numbers nonsense is a holdover from the ...
He Who Shall Remain Nameless
...era, no doubt. Hopefully the new guy will purge that greedy, pointless, manipulative repetition stuff from Bungie's collective consciousness before too long.

1 ReplyAgreed. All challenges need to be retroactive.
-
7 RepliesYeah im onto Outriders now. I feel like it respects my time better. I know its not live service, but its fun to feel powerful.
-
I have always been a supporter of the game even with its faults. But this non-retroactive is just the pits it is just pushing my loyalty to the limits. I know all the challenges are optional I have been doing them NOT for the bright dust but because they are available and it is something to do. But I will not be doing anymore, my choice. I have been awol from the game this past week playing something else I will be back but come on Bungie cut us a little bit of slack.
-
10 RepliesScummy. I like the way that describes non-retroactive challenges. I have definitely earned several, several infamy ranks this season, putting me at a rather high infamy level. This makes it almost impossible to earn five ranks for the challenge without playing insane amounts of gambit matches. Non-retroactive challenges are scummy.

For th presage mission this is fine as 1 master will complete it or 3 normal. You will still need to do it for the lore but it doesn't take long to do anyway.

1 ReplySuch entitlement from gen z

18 RepliesThe challenges are not meant to be done in the first week of the season. Theres nothing scummy about rewarding people who contine to pkay the game all season and not just the first part of it. And the best part is...you dont have to do it. If your not enjoying that part of the game dont play it. Your not forced. Theres really no incentive to play things you dont like. If you like that activity play it to get the reward. If you dont like it dont play it. You guys are really making a huge fuss about literally nothing.
-
2 Replieshow many more times are we going to get stagger champions for a challenge. so lazy.
-
5 RepliesThis game is shit.
-
Nobody deserves to suffer through these many non-retroactive Gambit challenges.
-
That's the essence of the game OP
-
Yep. Total crap. Agreed.
-
The only reward at the end is some bright dust, after seeing how much Gambit I’d have to play, I just said -blam!- it. I have over 20K sitting around that I never use unless there’s an exotic ornament in the shop. It’s not like you get a unique weapon or even a title. If you don’t engage with the system, they’ll be forced to change it.
-
Agreed 100%. I was looking today to that challenge and scratching my head like "WTF? I've already done Presage more than 3 times, what the heck is this about?". I even thought it was a bug. It's completely pathetic and shows the laziness that Bungie has become.

Edited by TheShadow: 4/6/2021 10:42:41 PMYou already know the answer to your question and you ever said it...
Now, there's one to run Presage three times, when I've already run it like 15 times. (This is nothing more than adding artificial grind in order to pad the playtime numbers), and it's scuzzy. Stop doing it.
This game has turned into one big boring hamster wheel. The only thing you need to do is pick what color you want... Edit: This game should have been handed over to Staten, O'Donnell, and a couple of others that actually have talent and knew what they were doing knowing they were in touch with the player base because they cared about the player base and the game. This new Bungie has screwed up any parental this game had that it has no future.

Yuup this game sucks
