Perdition, the 1300 Legendary Lost Sector is every wrong with the current approach to end game “challenge”. Ginned up by making the player incredibly weak.
Though I went in solo at 1288, that is well with the delta that you use for contest modifier content. Each run literally ran into a wall created by the Overload Champions. In each case, in addition doing such damage that I was getting two-tapped by them. In addition to them being able to teleport halfway across the map. In addition, to them spamming their weapons continuously?
They were healing faster than I could damage them with both a sword...and my super (Stormtrance). Despite have the proper mods equipped and meta weapons!!
It took THREE rockets to bring down ONE of the. Three direct hits with cluster bomb equipped rockets!
Whose idea of “fun” is this??
Whose idea of “fun” is reducing the player to hacking away at an enemy with a sword, and seeing his health bar go up!
Whose idea of “fun” is deploying what is supposed to be one of the most powerful attacks in the game, and watch an enemy not only shrug it off... but actually HEAL ITSELF WHILE UNDER ATTACK BY IT?!?!
It really lends credibility to the forum criticisms: Do you play your own game? And if you do, how did this get through??

"I was House Judgement scribe. I stood with Kelly for much of Overload Wars. Now, I stand with you in Judgement of Wolf Kell. That feels… right, somehow." (Insect like chattering)

1 Replyis this really you? Can't be can it? Great post. Credit where credit is due.

i use duskfield grenades (yes i know the artifact mod isn't for stasis) but the freeze makes stunning them easier so i can take them down with a sword.

Have you tried Overload Bow with disrupting blade

1 ReplyI agree champions are a pain but not broken. There are supposed to be challenging. Esoteric did a good video some time ago on champions and how to deal with them, I'd recommend searching that out.

5 RepliesOdd how the people responding to this post with "get gud" posts have no idea WTF they are talking about. I rarely agree with kelly, but you people ARE MISSING THE POINT. Champions in general break the flow of gameplay. Over leveled champions break the flow of your PROGRESSION. There is a difference between being under-leveled for content, thus having that content be challenging, and having content(or an enemy) that REQUIRES you to approach it in a very specific way. This is a very common shortcoming in Destiny, where the lack of creativity forces the devs to create very specific mechanics that pigeon hole players into doing very specific things. Last season it was "oh, just use the two stasis artifact mods and stun with grenades". We shit, Cletus, thanks for pointing out the obvious. What if I have crafted my build around Arc Melee? SOL? Wait until next season to be maybe be effective again? Champions are shitty designed enemies because of how specific the tactics need to be in order to defeat them. So no matter how much time you spend getting the best gear. The god rolls. No matter what level you are. How awesome you are at the game. YOU LITERALLY HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO USE A VERY SPECIFIC AND VERY ARBITRARY TACTIC TO DEFEAT THEM. That's the point. Which is why all of the "you used what? haha noob" makes you all look foolish. If ANY charged melee disrupted an over load champion, or any super broke a barrier shield, etc, THEN there would be a justification for the OP nature. Because as players we would be able to make the choice, do I get in close, risk getting smacked, but get my disrupt and try to lay in damage. Do I use my super now, wasting it JUST to break that shield? As opposed to, "what is the flavor of the week(season) mod that allows me to bypass the artificial pain point created by these annoying enemies"? Champions are no "hard". They are a broken and poorly designed game mechanic, added to artificially inflate the grind. Stop acting like there is some sort of skill involved in picking whatever meta gear you saw some youTuber tell you was awesome...

I think Bungie should change the way the anti champion mods are accessed. With the seasonal artifact, when levelling this up, each anti champion mod you select automatically applies across all weapons of that type. I.e. the anti champion mods should by default be usable on whichever weapon the mod applies to without needing to equip or slot the mod in to anything. For example; unlocking Overload Submachine gun is now applied to all SMGs weapon they be white, green, blue, legendary or exotic without having to equip this mod to either the weapon or your armor. However, the other anti champion mods like arc grenades overloading champions, you would have to apply to your armor.

Edited by ApeX: 2/20/2021 10:45:40 AMAutomatic weapons have lots of issues with overload rounds. Champions have some issues, but not enough to the point where its impossible to deal with them. I think champions need a rework overall. They restrict you to very specific loadouts that kill any sort of fun you may have whilst trying to play your own way. As a post below describes, they literally pigeonhole you into choosing one specific loadout. They force you to sacrifice Vital PvE mods on your armor just to deal with one enemy. This alone destroys any type of mod diversity you may have in an activity. I think bungie should go back to putting the mods on weapons and give them a champion mod slot so we can still use our normal weapon mods. Champions overall have a negative effect on endgame PvE activitys that force you to one set of specific solutions. This hurts replayability in the long run as there is nothing new to try or attempt. Imagine playing Halo except the only weapon that can damage elites are DMRs. You now have to dedicate one of your two precious weapon slots to deal with elites, but wait... its doesnt end there. You also need to have rockets to deal with grunts. Now you are forced into one type of loadout or playstyle. TLDR:: setting up for any high-end activity takes nearly all the room you have for customization, thus dulling and making the game bland and boring.

2 RepliesI’m not a super fan of pve content but I love solo lost sectors. Anything I don’t need others to do I’m down. The sword mods this season really destroy the overloads. I think the champions are a great change to a stagnant dynamic that needed something. That said, overload captains are definitely a -blam!-. I do wish the mods were blanket mods for special, primary etc. I don’t want to use a anti barrier scout so I use the sniper mod but what about breach loading grenade launchers? Sidearms?

They dont respond properly outside the deep stone crypt. Noticed it last season when using grenades in master nightfalls & legendary lost sectors. In the raid id be able to hit them with a nade & they would be stunned. I wouldn't damage them while stunned just so I can throw a nade & stun them again because at first I just thought my timing was off. It wasnt because i would apply the same concept in master nightfalls & lost sectors like I said & after they were no longer stunned and hitting them with another nade they would simply walk through it teleport & begin charging at me. If they stunned properly they wouldnt be as annoying to face. That being said a cool down on overload champ abilities wouldnt make much sense to me. "overload" to me is exactly what the overload champs do which is them all over the place & spamming abilities.

I went in at 1310 and smashed them. This game one ups me, I one up it !!!!

I don’t really mind champions but yeah they can be kinda dumb

Disrutping blade would like to know your location.

Edited by ThatiamX: 2/20/2021 2:07:38 AMThings changed for me when I unlocked the “Surge Detonators” mod for the class armor piece. When I run Arc Titan I’ll throw a pulse grenade at an OC’s feet and go on about my business. If they get together, selfie style, one grenade will take them both out. That mod basically freed up a weapon spot and gives me more variety. “Inferno Whip” is a good one. One punch in the face of a fully shielded UC and they’re ready for a finisher.

Lol anyone defending overloads. There is a ton of footage of them on YouTube acting BUGGY. Ya that needs fixing.

It’s possible we could see a fight between two Kelly greens Maybe more idk how much people have joined cult

2 RepliesEdited by pacificdune: 2/19/2021 11:21:33 PMI’m on the fence here. I don’t think that every activity should be automatic, regardless of gear. You are running a 3 person activity solo, that you are underleveled for, and using the example of not being able to bring down a single target with an add clear super. Part of what I like about the game is finding unique ways to defeat these difficult enemies, even if I am underleveled. This also gives me some motivation to increase my level so I can obtain the new exotics. Having trouble understanding how your post is simply not a call for the ability to go in with whatever loadout and clear anything, which is the definition of boring.

kellygreen, I have found that many times the champions get glitched. Now and again, they regen instantly and while being damaged, to a point that they are almost impossible to kill. I usually leave the activity and then go back to it. This has happened in high level nightfalls, as well as any other activity you find them in. Leaving and going back in usually brings them back to their "normal", level of pain in the ass.

6 RepliesImagine playing the game for as long as OP has and NOT knowing about power level differences. This has to be a troll...

The biggest issue for me when it comes to champions is how long the delay between stuns can take and the health regeneration they have. I'll start with the stun delay issue. It's fine to have a delay period between stuns but the way the delay is now is far to long. In the case of overloads if you don't nuke him down on the initial first stun you can bet that by the time he's no longer stunned and in that state of being immune to stuns he gonna run you down and take you out. Next is the issue of the heath regen that champions get. They can have their regen but it should never have been allowed for them to regen all their heath back. The heath gen should have been capped at each third of health. So of you drop a champion to 2/3rds health it'll never heal past that and the same for when they drop to 1/3rd health. Another issue with the health regen is just how rapid it is, a champion being able to heal from 0 to 100 in the matter of maybe 2 seconds is just dumb especially with overload champions who can heal in that period of when they can't be stunned. The champion system in general is just another case with bungie having a good idea but doing a terrible job of actually executing the idea.

Champions were implemented so poorly and I have no clue why nobody is agreeing with you on this.

4 RepliesI have noticed a lot weirdness happening since this season started, as well as agreeing with the OP. Mainly in the new Battlegrounds mode where entire armies of psions and cabal are glitching across huge area of the map. And dying for no reason in certain nightfalls and the Presage mission. A clan member had some info regarding Bungie upgrading their servers or engine whilst trying to keep the gameplay as unaffected as possible, but I don't know how true this is. Maybe it has something to do with the introduction of the next gen consoles, and this is another reason why I don't want crossplay, because there are already too many problems that aren't being rectified. All I know is....something aint right, although I repeat that I agree wholeheartedly with the OP.

7 RepliesI got goddamn gauntlets when the drop is supposed to be chest piece.

1 ReplyIt will be tough when you're under powered, but even with a sub 20 power level I never found a champion problem that couldn't be solved with Xenophage, also last season with the grenade spam overload mod was like cheating it made it so easy, there's similar this season, Surge Detonators, but no where near as powerful, try it again with Xeno and the mod, you might have more success.

1 ReplyEdited by MstrofPuppts: 2/19/2021 8:45:58 PMThe worst... I predict that when VoG comes to D2 it will have overload Minotaurs and Unstoppable Pretorians.. Hard Pass
