Can we get some more traveler lore?
I've always disliked how Bungie just kinda lumped the Light and the traveler into one entity and expected us to just shrug our shoulders and walk away. Clearly there's a reason the Darkness is after the traveler specifically and not the actual entity known as the Light
Now I don't want the travelers origins just snapped into the game with the next DLC, but what I do want is more and more information about the giant white ball as we progress throughout the rest of Destiny's life span.
At least tell us more before D3

1 ReplyYeah, though they’ve given hints that the Traveler is just a drone for the light. The books of sorrow calls the Traveler we see in D1 and D2 “a Traveler” initially, and then starts calling it “the Traveler” because it is the object they are chasing. Like, when you say, “We’ve found an asteroid”, and then call it “the asteroid” because that is an object of study. It isn’t THE ONLY asteroid, it’s just your current focus.

I sort of imagine after they've ironed out a lot of details over the past several years, that they would save a big reveal for D3. Maybe even provide some more insight in the DLC leading up to D3. . I was hoping D2 would serve to provide a lot of insight, but it did serve the purpose of awakening the Traveler which was a fairly big step that I think would naturally lead to another large revelation as I mentioned above, in D3.

To use a weird example. In Yu-Gi-Oh!(haha but for real) there are both light and darkness but two sides to both. The darkness has the gentle dark and overpowering dark( not sure if real names) and the light has the light of pure and the light of absolute.(again not sure if real names). The point is the both have two sides. Applying that to Destiny, maybe both have two sides to both the light and dark. The traveler could be the darker side of the light and the darkness seeks balance, not matter the damage. My thoughts

8 RepliesTraveler lore will happen when the Darkness arrives. It's the only thing that has been around as long as the Traveler. I've spoken many times about my theory of the Travelers origin along side the Queen of Final Shapes and her "Society", needing the Traveler to restore it after it departed which created basically everything quantifiable that we know about about our existence. Her people or "the Veil" need vessels to move about our Realm. Meaning they weren't born of this world, something existed before our universe. See the plot for Divinity 2 and the "God King". It's of similar nature to Dragon Age Inquisition.

The traveler is capable of terraforming celestial bodies to suit the living requirements of its chosen conduits. The traveler had existed for an undefined amount of time, but has been confirmed to have existed well before humanity. The traveler serves “The Sky” and wields the power of The Sky, known as “The Light”. The traveler is either a producer of The Light or a conduit for Light to be channeled into. An ancient enemy hunts the traveler known as “The Darkness”, which is itself a servant of a greater power known as “The Deep”. The traveler has visited previous alien races before, however the only race known to have been granted the ability to channel the light is those of human origins. The traveler has been referenced to be sentient, through lore cards, however is also know to be mechanic in nature, due to the Fallen calling it “The Great Machine”, and the Consul commenting that the Fallen are correct in the name. ^everything we know about The Traveler.

2 Repliesi hope someday we get to play as Fallen, back when the Traveler resided in their home planet, i would also like to know how the Traveler changed the Eliksni and if they were ever able to weild the light in some way A fallen DLC would be perfect to flesh all this out and learn alot more about the fallen & Traveler backstory, The monent the "Great Machine left them would also be Epic to witness imo

4 RepliesThat’s exactly why they WONT give us any more info on the Traveler. Because they want the whole idea of blind faith and blind following like all the Guardians do, so that us Dredgen’s can counteract that.

I’m sure this will unfold when the Drakness comes. As of right now, I’m sure the reason it’s not address if because the Vanguard doesn’t even know themselves.

11 Replies<D2 was said to about the Traveler and what it means to be Chosen. However, to learn more about the Traveler we need to learn more about the Darkness. We'll see a lot of lore when the second Collapse hits.>
