Like a punch to the gut
On the classic rock station I heard Nirvana, Foo Fighters and Collective Soul (or was it Candlebox? I always confused those two)
Now I feel old.

Yup, the 90's are now part of the classic genre. For the first time ever I heard Mad Season's River of Deceit on the radio followed by Temple of the Dog's Hunger Strike. Made the hair on me stand up! Personally I am happy because the Alternative Rock station in my city sucks ass. They play the worst of the new shit and most of the over played from decent new shit. Meanwhile the classic rock station plays all of the overplayed songs of a handful of the old greats...

The thing that bothered me is last week I had to borrow my mom's minivan, and according to her satelitte radio system the "classic rock" station I listen to (mostly 70's rock) was called an "oldies" station. So apparently stuff from the 90's is now classic rock and stuff from the 70's is now oldies.

1 ReplyWell, it's been 30 years since "Bleach" was released which is a longer timespan than there was from when "Sgt. Peppers" and "Bleach" were released. And I thought the Beatles were old then, so yeah stuff from the 80's and 90's is now classic rock.
