RNG has destroyed this game for me. Time to move on.
As most do, let me preface this by saying I'm a beta D1 player, been there, done that etc. I stopped playing D1 the day I found out about D2 being a new game rather than a continuation and didn't return until Forsaken. Having not played any of the vanilla game, COO or Warmind, I had a lot to catch up on and my initial month or two back in the game were a lot of fun.
However, I'm leaving again, mainly to keep my sanity. Bungie, if you wish for this franchise to survive, these forums have a treasure trove of insights for you to trawl and I won't repeat everything you need to do in order to maintain interest.
But for me, as a LOOTER SHOOTER with RPG aspirations, my main issue is the INSANE RNG aspects of gear drops. For example:
- 40-45 riven kills - no One Thousand Voices
- 15-18 shattered throne clears (can't remember how many, but quite a lot) - no ship
- god knows how many gambit games - no ship
After a point, player's pursuits go from excitement, to frustration, to apathy. Look at games like Diablo 3 - loot drops are still RNG, but the percentages aren't anywhere near as bad. But we keep going back to that as drops get different roles so you keep trying to get perfect stats.
Anyway, I'm not expecting any kind of response and by this stage, I'm sure you've heard this feedback already, but just wanted to add from my perspective, why I'm going to be moving on. I may be back for Destiny 3 if you can make some radical improvements to the game.
EDIT: if Bungie do reply to this it would be amazing to have a response which isn’t just ‘we will pass feedback on’. I’d genuinely like the RNG algorithm explained a bit, because it really does feel broken
EDIT2: I know this is the internet, and trolls be trolling, but please refrain from the classic ‘stop whining posts’ as it just makes you look a bit silly. Legitimate criticism is fine but 10 year old level trolls are just lame.
EDIT3: it saddens and amazes me how many trolls there are on this forum! I know they’re either little kids or just sad pathetic losers who I will just ignore from here on, but it frankly baffles me why people reply to comments they think they’ve read, but haven’t, or just absolutely trying to wind up. Very sad these losers exist and have a platform to speak on the internet.

If you got everything from every activity the 1st 5 tries ... would you keep playing that activity? What would keep you coming back? Seems to me the only thing keeping some people playing is the fact they still have things to chase.

I’m not going to switch over it, mostly because Anthem gives me the same vibes D2 did prior to release, but it’s an issue none the less.

Anthem starts tomorrow but drops next week. See the loot in that thing? It lists all the loot you'll get per activity with a chance of other items also dropping. One screen shot showed like 11 item drops for finishing a stronghold. It was all blue shit, but has a chance for better items when complete. Anthem is going to be the pve game destiny fans wanted. Just wait.. It will get really good. It will be a good game/time to stop playing destiny. Let bungie spend some quality time on the game and give it another super buff to make it good again.

5 RepliesI really like how everything has such a low drop chance. Is it frustrating? Yes. But id rather have a reason to play an activity then not. The ship and Izanami Quest are the only reason to ever do Shattered throne. After youve done both of em, why bother? It took me 45 tries to get 1kV and ultimativly RIvensbane, and I havent done LW since. Anarchy is the only reason im still doing Sotp every week. That and maybe a good rolled Threat Level. Drop rates may seem abysal, but its good this way. I was there during Vanilla D2, when you literally had every exotic 10hours into the game. Increasing overall Drop Rates will kill this game, simply because everyone will have achieved and received everything theyve wanted. They will have no reason to play. If it frustrates you that much to do activites week after week and not receiving your desired loot, then I think looter shooters arent your thing.

Agreedddd! It’s the first time I’ve ever been this salty at D2. Since forsaken have been released, I’m still grinding for my last 2 exotic armour for my main (Let’s not even talk about my other 2 classes cause I haven’t even gotten anything for them). All I’ve been getting are dupes after dupes and it’s funny at first to get multiple Aeon safes but then it’s just getting annoying now. I wouldn’t mind if they made the drop rates of exotics even more rare but have full dupe protection. Like If I have grind for weeks but guaranteed to get a new exotic, I’d much prefer that. Imma try and hold out for a few more days, who knows? Maybe I’ll be lucky and get my drop but if not, then byeeee D2 cause Anthem is coming out and I need a break from D2’s sad RNJesus.... :(

I recommend sao fatal bullet Its a looter shooter but every item has a enemy type that drops it but then you need to get lucky that it has a good roll or one you can work with Btw the story is half ass (like the rest of sao) the grafics are meh but the gameplay is good

I wouldn't hold out on D3 being worth it. D1 was good, D2 was meh and D3 will be even worse.

Destiny 1 My luckiest RNG is got gjallarhorn my first legendary engram month when it released Destiny 2 are most unlucky I still no have 1000 voice but got last wish ship on 23ist run

100% agree, cant get the wayfarer or cursebreaker Seals due to RNG but the worst is after 4 months, every powerful gear drop and multiple raids I still dont have the One Eyed Mask and now its getting nerfed before I even tried it and I'm a Titan main. I've -blam!-ed Destiny off for now as its too frustrating and I'm bored of getting zero reward for loyalty and effort.

They should just make raid exotics automatically drop once you hit 25 clears. Or go back to an outbreak prime type exotic system (with how they respond to the community these days that’s prob too in depth of an idea for them)

I can't summon the energy to log on after getting my 10th frigid Jackal out of 11 braytech schematics. It's just pointless.
