To all the guys teaching people the raid!

Just wanna say your the real heroes teaching players how to do the raid and get it done full respect and a titan fist bump to all of you! Edit1. I totally agree that there is not much in the game to help but there is nothing better then seeing progression with the players you have only just met and asking if they understand something or not, there is nothing wrong with not understanding and if I have to take an extra 5 mins with that person and share the info I have learnt from other great players then I as a player am doing it right 😊 Edit 2. Amazing to see a varied response good and bad just wish there were more good but that's what lfg is about it's that 10% that works and syncs to get the job done also in process of making good friends 🙌 Edit. 3 Cant believe we trended on such a good vibe just be kind to each other gaurdians and remember we were all noobs ounce and some new kinder gaurdians over the Xmas and New year period, have a great Xmas and New year!

  • As a deaf player it’s hard to find players that are willing to help with raids, but those who are are generally great people. I have completed Leviathan a couple times and made some good friends out of it. Last Wish is the hardest challenge so far just because the amount of unwillingness there is. I understand cause The Vault is mostly communication. But honestly I would be nowhere without helpful people

As someone who has sherpa'd for all D1 raids, Leviathan, EoW, and Last Wish, hopefully soon I can sherpa scourge, still need to master the the Ph1 encounter of the boss with the aura and spawning tanks, and ball carrying in the beginning. If you lie about your experience at all, beating it, attempting it, whatever, let me be clear by saying I am not wasting my time with you AT ALL. You will be kicked on the spot if I find out. I'd rather take someone who's a low LL and honest about their experience than a high/max LL who's ego is to big for their head

I also have one rule as a Sherpa: if you, at ANY point in time, lie about your experience and say you know what to do, or you have completed it, and you haven’t, you are immediately kicked

            • I love being a sherpa for raids and the dungeon. For me, this is actual endgame. It frustrates me when people aren't willing to teach or don't have the patience to allow some players to learn - not in the instance of folks having a specific goal in mind and getting it done, though. I've had weeks and months where I'm so busy it feels like there isn't enough time to breathe, but you have an hour and want to kick it in a big activity. I get that, and it's totally understandable. And yeah, I've run into groups where some folks just aren't willing to put in the time, but I've found that most players are just trying to figure it out. I've made 2 excellent IRL friends from LFG. It's my hope that more positive outcomes exist for other players. Destiny has issues, but the community is what made it the giant it used to be (and the smaller giant it is now, but still).

              • I don't mind people who haven't done the raid who are competent. The people I hate are the ones who say they know what they are doing and don't. Also if you can't do dps don't raid please, for the love of god don't ruin it for everyone else. Got to the end of Scourge of the Past for the second time and second attempt earlier; most of us had 2-3 million damage on the second phase and then two people had 400/500,000 damage with the same gun (whisper). Like do people not know how to aim and shoot? If you're wondering my two friends and I ended up giving up because we couldn't take anymore shit.

                • Sometimes I help people, sometimes I don't, sometimes it's easy to help when they actually listen and are competent other times when they still screw it up 15 attempts later I get frustrated but at the end of the day it depends on what else I need to get done if like this week I need to do 3 extremely long tedious questlines then I want ppl that kwtd. but say next week ill be helping people through it. If I choose to not put up with it and replace them because I have run out of patience then that should tell them they need to put the effort into it as well, some people don't want a guide they want a carry and that is the unfortunate thing that turns some players into cynics.

I gave up on helping the community. Too many muppets, A mark of a good sherpa is paitence and mine ran out. I only teach those in my clan now as i know they are competent and adapt. Cover eachothers weaknesses. Last time i sherpa'd the muppet thought he knew more in his 5 clears of leviathan Than he did in my teams collective 150+ Clears of levi. So i get his clear done and havnt sherpa'd again since

                      • It's disappointing to see all these negative experiences people have with raid groups. We, as Guardians should be doing better to help one another. On PC I've done over 800 raids with the majority of them being Sherpa runs. Feel free to hit me up at anytime and I'll form a group to get you through any and all raids. We raid almost every single evening. Classic Raids, LastWish, Scourge. It doesn't matter much on your light or your load out. We generally take less than an hour to run a full group of new players through. We don't care about meta builds and any of that. It's mainly about being chill, having fun and helping others. If you're ever stuck on a raid, feel like you don't have enough people or simply want to learn in a relaxed environment. Let me know and I can ensure I'll get you through the raid.

                          • My clan often get a random in our raid group that has no clue what to do and it’s a really rewarding feeling getting that person through the raid.

I used to sherpa the King's Fall raid in D1.. miss it, may start doing it again in D2. I enjoy teaching people and seeing things click. Finished my first run of last wish last night, and was a little annoyed that some streamer joined our fireteam under the guise of being a noob, when he actually had 56 clears, and just watched us struggle while he pretended to not know what he was doing, rather then actually helping us. He didnt troll or anything, just pretended to be a noob at the raid.. was still a little frustrating at the end when he admitted it. Ah well. We had a blast anyway, and I had fun showing people where the eggs were.

                              • I have taught around 15 people so far how to do the scourge. I have a very busy schedule or I would have done more. I find that it makes the community stronger as a whole. I hate to see on LFG that people are asking for clears to run with them. Saying you don't have time to teach would be more appropriate. Also for the people saying KWTD, if you take the time to teach it you will most likely have a more solid raid team. In other thoughts as long time clan leader in destiny 1 I have taught many how to do raids. Being a good raid leader and being able to adapt your fireteam for there strengths and weaknesses is key.
