I'm talking Dragon age Inqusition levels of crazy. The amount of detail that character creation had was insane. Now, you may be like:
But... in depth facial customization is pointless when your helmet will be on 90% of the time.
To which I say: Bullshit. There are many out there who prefer to take the time to make their characters look good and unique. I'm one of those people and destinys character creation is extremely lackluster. I mean, D2s character creation is a copy pasta of D1s with nothing added. That's unforgivable in my book and I'm surprised it wasn't a bigger issue. It was the first red flag for me that D2 wasn't going to be that good when I first started playing. It was... lazy.
What do y'all think? Should bungie spend more time develping a more in depth character creator. Would you actually use it properly or rush through it to jump straight into the story?

The java lim suits look great you not see the trailer 👍

If you like an aesthetic character whats your opinion on this. In AC Odyssey you can make any peace of gear look like any other piece of gear given that you already obtained it. So in D2 you could get a god rolled piece of armour that looks terrible, but then you change it to look like armour you like that matches what you have on, and you still get to keep the good rolls. I think this would be epic, it also means you can have the aesthetic of year 1 gear, with random rolls. Thoughts?

1 ReplyLet’s focus on character development first then we can decide how chiselled our jaws are. I mean, we were dead for centuries, got resurrected by an alien entity and immediately done whatever we were told using amazing combat skills and powers. No questions asked. A decent story team might have added flashbacks or quests relating to our previous lives.

This. But i want our Guardians to be put in a tight spot like when Cayde was fighting off scorn before he died. Our own cutscene like that. Fighting for our lives and action packed. The most action packed cutscene we were in was riding in the back of Amanda's ship when the Red Legion attacked. It's pathetic.

...and I'm surprised it wasn't a bigger issue
Oh it was, man. It just got lost in the tide of even bigger issues. You're right, for a "modern console/PC only" sequel with clear graphical changes and enhancements, for a straight port of the previous game's character creator to be all we got was awful. I like my characters and I did take time to craft them to the extent that I could. I'm one of the few (sometimes the only one) walking around in the Tower with no helmet. I wish I had more options for sure. Anthem is taking a similar posture with character creation, from what I understand. Not "Dragon Age" robust, but enough to craft a solid character. However, they did it for a reason; because you're in your mech suit most of the time. And the customizations for the Javelin mech suits are supposed to be INSANE. So we shall see if that satisfies those of us who like a deep character creator engine.

2 RepliesI'd wear my helmet less if my characters didn't look like every generic character in the game.

Set your expectations low, then maybe you can be amazed.

4 RepliesEdited by ClothingOptionaI: 12/13/2018 11:41:36 PMBungie won't do it. Bioware does have they best character creator i've ever seen, and i've played a lot of games across multiple platforms. It's such a shame they're own by EA.

4 RepliesEdited by xilxad: 12/14/2018 12:07:33 AMD3 is being built on the same game engine that we have been playing for over four years. You will think it’s new when you see it because it looks sooo much better than what you are used to and you will be convinced that its new but it wont be. It will only look better because of the next gen hardware it will be running on. PC looks freaking amazing (depending on your machine). Hopefully character creation will be better but i would not count on it. Also no dedicated servers so the nostalgia factor will be high every time we get booted or a lagging player fries us in crucible. And, for absolutely NO discernible reason whatsoever there will still be no match making for the Nightfall strike.

12 RepliesAnthem will be better

Gonna be the same shit. Don't expect anything else. Small indie studio so please understand. Also don't forget to buy silver. Bungie needs it

If i could do what i can do in souls games ill be happy

It won't make it

Bump. But please DO NOT hold your breath Guardian.
-
I wouldn’t get your hopes up friend.

1 Replyim not holding my breath for that i dont know if ill even touch d3 at this point itll be a year after release before its even half decent

1 ReplyWithout expectations, there is no disappointment.

I'll bump
Gets my bolls tingling just thinking about having a unique guardian.
1 ReplyI'm not a destiny crusader hater. But I'm thinking I'm done with destiny franchise when 2 is over. Only thing I ever wanted was dedicated servers for 2 reasons. 1. When someone lags it only effects them. 2. Not delay in communication. For example no getting around the wall with bullets thanks to server delays and bullet tracking. Plus raids arent that fun anymore and strikes have no meaning. Still a fun game but slowly losing that luster. Along with no kick ass cosmetic stuff like d1 or create a character features. UNLESS they add that to D3 then I will more then likely buy it.
-
If they said they would do that would you believe them? Any goodwill they had from me was based on Halo and the progress they made by tuning D1. That has all been spent. I won’t be buying D3 or any more expansion passes.
-
4 Repliesi'd much rather dedicated servers over improved character creation. seriously, how often do you look at your character, without a helmet on?
-
Would be nice but I’m not holding my breathe. Can’t see that or dedicated servers, hoping to be proved wrong.
-
D 3 ? I wouldn't hold my breath on that . I doubt there be a D 3. Bungie will prob get dissolved into Activisions and be working on side projects for other games for the next 4 years.
-
EA's Madden u had the ability to put ur face on ur player, in this day and age I dont know how this isnt an option.
-
Edited by joey big guns: 12/14/2018 5:57:59 PMI’d prefer other areas of the game being made properly over having more customization of a character that you don’t see out of the helmet unless there’s a cut scene or you’re hanging out in the public spaces. There are far larger problems with the game than whether or not my space Barbie has a pretty face.

1 ReplyWell, when bungie continually refuses to make it so we can change our characters by not even acknowledging that a problem exists, it seems kinda pointless to state the obvious over and over again.
