Anyone else bored of the same old grind?

This milestone gear up system is actually killing my enjoyment of this game, it feels like a tedious chore doing the exact same shit every week in order to gear up. Actually tilts me beyond belief. No, in fact I am happy to have a reason to do my milestones again. The milestones are.. actually the entire game? Like, doing your milestones is literally just playing the game. If playing the game bores you, maybe its time to take a break from it? Not to mention after doing all my milestones for one week (which took me like, 5 hours total playtime, by the way), I was already 627 before yesterday's reset. After one more night playing, I'm now 634. Almost at the new cap already after a week and a day. The grind is barely even there.

i’m not grinding until the last word comes out because of how bad the grind is. i get on to stack quickplay with my friends when they want me to but i’m not touching pve. there’s no way i’m going to be doing the exact same crucible, gambit, strike, and dreaming city milestones every week for another season. what we have right now is basically warmind but if it only came with escalation protocol and spire of stars. once they roll out more ways to get light level i might get back on. as of right now though, the annual pass has been a waste of my money. i really hope that changes.

    • Your standards are unrealistic. What do you want new content literally every single week? Not possible. You just need to get a life.

      • I feel the same way Dude. I will always love Destiny and the community around it but I think the Light Level increase was too stupid as a very small portion of the community hit 600 before BA came out hell some of my friends are still in the 580's and now they have an additional 70 Light levels before getting max level. The biggest problem in my eyes is the power you actually get from doing those Powerful Rewards as it doesn't feel like you are progressing. Last week Alone I had no movitvation to play on my Warlock or Titan after only getting 4 Light levels from doing everything within my level on my Hunter. What could be done to fix this ? Simple make the rewards feel meaningful again especially for guys like me who grinded their asses off to hit 600 on all three characters before RDR2 came out that way we can get into end game quicker and enjoy and learn everything new added into the game.

I remember back when I played Halo 2/3/Reach. I could jump in and play those games for hours without any real "grind" incentive. Even Reach with it's credit system and cosmetic gear crap wasn't a push for me to play every single day or whatnot - I just played for fun. I remember texting my bud to get on Reach, and we would lose hours just playing SWAT. Some of the best times, man. And none of it was "new" either - went almost a year in Reach before Halo anniversary dropped and gave us new Reach maps. And I was still playing Reach by the time that dropped! There was no "going back to" the game or whatever - the disc never left my damn console for a year. Now look at Bungie: they have created their own worst nightmare. System upon system that tries to promote endless play, but instead pushes players to do content most do not care about. And for what? So you can be a high enough level to do a rehashed activity? Why? I don't know how they could do it, but Bungie needs to go back to it's glory days where they just made a single, solid game we could play and did not touch it. The more they try to push a grind the more it seems to backfire on them.

      • Yep... The Milestones have turned me off of the game over the last few months. Can’t really play what you want to play if you want to continue increasing your power level.

        • compare the amount we have to do now vs d2 at launch, d2 at launch i could have all 3 of my guys done with the milestones in 1-2 days, now im lucky if i can get my 2nd guy done before reset. im loving the amount of content and ways to constantly get gear to level up. i also think its smart to make us do things we wouldnt normally do to get leveled up and almost all of it is tied to triumphs and titles. i think the turn around they have done is amazing imo. the quests have been pretty good i think gambit is a really cool way to incorporate pve and pvp shattered throne ascendant challenges the black armory stuff and its match making lots of new things to do

If you don't enjoy the game, how do you expect to enjoy 'grinding' the game? I guess hate on Destiny because it is the popular thing to do, but at what point does it turn from "Playing Destiny because it's fun" to "Grinding Destiny because I feel obligated to"? Edit: I guess this came from the perspective of someone who enjoys the various means of power progression in Destiny 2(Strikes, Gambit, Crucible, Raid), so the thought of the game-play turning into a "chore" or obligation was lost on me.

            • Not bored with the same old grind because there's a lot more ways to grind now. Just bored of grinding for a very limited amount of new weapons and armor. So many useless vendors still selling Y1 gear or nothing at all(factions). This is the Black Armory expansion. Where is all the new armor and weapons? I'll have stacks and stacks of planetary materials and tokens for Seasons 6 and 7, assuming they have anything new by then.

            • You can literally play the game however you want to and still rank up... Clearly the problem has become that you just don’t like to play the game anymore but still feel obligated to play it like a job.

            • The Gofannon Forge quest is terrible as well. Melee 75 fallen. Do a heroic cryo-event. Go do 3 lost sectors with different drone shielded bosses. Go to Nessus and hunt roaming Captains. I mean, it's just lame, boring, and lazy. They just lost all the respect they gained back with Forsaken.

                • Haven't fired it up these last few days. Decided to try and finish DA: Inquisition after watching the teaser over the weekend. Kill dudes, get XP, level up choose perk. Imagine if Bungle tried that instead of get XP, level up (meaningless), get item drop from RNG go up one bloody level. Last week I played 1 Gambitch and 1 Cruciball and got a side arm and a bow which when equipped bumped me to 601. Looked long and hard at my Warlock and changed games.

                    • Yes. The game is in a boring state. I bought Red Dead and thoroughly love it. I'm back on Destiny for the moment to play a bit with my son (though i'm really enjoying the Dawning) The meta probably should change with each season to keep it fresh, but at the moment it just feels stagnant, even with Black Armory.

                    • You can play crucible and other activities at low levels, any other activity is “the grind” so maybe Destiny isn’t your game.
