PVP currently, is in it's worst state

The meta is so hyper-realistically clear that we are at the point where nothing shakes it up. Blade barrage is a clear problem. A super that powerful should not recharge so fast. A solo kill blade barrage is a common sight to see now, because it's such a disposable super that solo killing with it is ENCOURAGED. Shotguns. Shotguns everywhere. A shotgun should not instantly kill at a range where submachine guns become viable. Not using a shotgun feels like a serious disadvantage, especially in our extremely close range maps. Pvp now feels like the wild west. Hand cannons like Ace of Spades, Luna's howl, and Not Forgotten are extremely powerful. I don't understand why they are catering to them so much. These are regarded as pvp god weapons, and they are they for sure. It would be nice to see some unique perks like these on other weapon archetypes so people can be different. I am not saying these weapons are overpowered, they are genuinely low skill to use weapons, but we lack other weapons in a different class that can do the same. Most of these issues would be solved if maps stopped catering to specific playstyles. The inclusion of the new Equinox map introduced a new setting for pulses, scouts and snipers to be very viable, but almost every other map misses that mark with tight spaces, corrordors, and small lanes. It would be nice for maps to have high sightlines for once, rather than gunplay being mostly on a single plane. Bungie, if you actually made good maps, respawning next to enemies would not be an issue. We all know matchmaking is a clear issue. Bungie removing it was a huge mistake. The introduction of pinnacle weapons have killed crucible. I wonder who in the hell thought an insta-killing grenade launcher was a good idea. Matchmaking is a disaster, everyone knows this. Bungie either is either unwilling or unable to fix it, so don't look forward to that happening any time soon. By far the biggest issue with the game is the competitive crucible playlist. This game has some great casual pvp, and if everyone treated it as a purely casual experience then it wouldn't be an issue. The problem is that by even having a competitive playlist, let alone tying specific weapon unlocks to that playlist, Bungie is sending the message that this game is competitive, but they balance the game in the exact opposite direction. Any company trying to make a balanced and competitive game would have looked at the usage rate on shotguns and done something about it. They would have tweaked autorifles, scout rifles, and SMGs so they weren't useless. Bungie hasn't done these things. So they simultaneously send signals that this game's PvP is purely casual and that it should be seen as competitive. This is why you see SUCH a split in the community. People who want a competitive shooter want over-tuned items nerfed so that the meta-game isn't so static and stale, because they will always want to play THE most effective loadout. So when everyone is running Lunas/Not Forgotten, Dust Rock Blues, Wardcliff coil, they think "Why isn't there a legitimate way to counter this at high levels" To these people PvP is in it's worst state ever, because there are very few loadouts they can use. Then you have people who want a casual shooter. They think shotguns are fun to use. When they get tired of using shotguns they switch to a sidearm, or an autorifle. If they are at a disadvantage for not using the best of the best items then they don't mind as much because they are still having fun. Meanwhile they have even MORE fun if they use off meta guns and still succeed with them. To them the PvP is the best it's ever been because - outside of the best players in the game - the lower time to kill allows any weapon to succeed, which gives them the most flexibility in load-outs they have ever had. This is why you see people saying things like "Sidearms counter shotguns" and then responses saying "Sidearms always lose to shotguns" even though these are opposite statements, they can still both be right depending on the viewpoint of the players. So when you see people say things about PvP in this game, ask yourself; "What side do I fall into?" and if their comment makes more sense if they fall onto the other side.

        • Shotguns need a range balance for sure. They’ve made SMGs useless, and OHK from what should be fusion range. Not a huge difference, but need some tweaks. I’ve found it’s mostly about finding the RANGE you like to fight in, and stick to that. For instance, I tend to keep distance and use bygones, until someone pushes me or I see bright red at a corner, then I bait, back up and use Wizened Rebuke fusion to melt them. That means I’m not effective in really long ranges, or HC range, but if I find myself in one of those, I hide to try to bait them, or just find another engagement. This game is ALL about range and staying in your guns intended range.

          • Don't really see ace too much mainly bygones and Luna's howl, telesto shotguns. The maps don't help and are a insult to D1 maps, we also want map voting Too much heavy/power ammo in crucible, should spawn twice in QuickPlay in 2 locations once in comp with choice to wave it off at the start and if you die it's gone. Right now especially in comp it limits the map around heavy it's so boring Supers need tuning some need a buff some need a nerf blade barrage powerful one time shut down super but less annoying than nova warp that last for so long and it gets health back don't even compare spectral blades you need the exotic vest to make it last too long which is being nerfed and it doesn't have the range/blast radius of nova warp. Personally I would like us to spawn in with 6 rounds of special at the start and respawn with 4 rounds and have special scavenger perks on legs so we can pick up 4 shots. The special ammo economy is trash for snipers. All titans has ohk shoulder charge and a can be use as dodge without limits which has more range than D1 version it seems with 90 degree aim assist whilst nova warp warlocks get ohk grenade, Hunters need a throwing knife buff like in D1 not ohk and incidinary grenades should have ohk potential. And Hunters bottom dodge needs a buff give us 2 dodges or have the bottom dodge recharge faster to make it a viable choice over the top dodge. Crucible in D1 way more fun and had plenty of counters. D2 is so limited like our locked in subclasses.

          • A huge massive problem is how hunter and warlock now have Supers that can last forever and also recharge their health and shields on a kill. Wtf!?!? did Bungie think that was a good idea? I don't know. All the older Super now suck compared to the new supers. Bungie is run by morons. Plus Titans supers in general are absolute garbage. 95% of the player base in pvp is hunters or warlocks. I just came back to this game a few days ago because it's a new season and I want to get the new eververse stuff and holy shit is this game in an incredibly shitty place right now. Pvp right now is just a nightmare of crappy crap crap. Over the last 20 or so pvp matches about 60% of the players were hunters, 35% were warlocks and maybe 5% were Titans. That's pretty faked up! Lol

            • PVP in Destiny has always been a joke. And Bungie have proven time and again they have no idea how to balance things. If you're after PvP, play a different game. p.s If you're after PVE, play something else...

            • PvP would be amazing, if not for the lack of matchmaking. I'm sick and tired of being matched with players way above my skill level. My K/d has probably dropped by 50 percent, despite me applying the 4 & Out rule. Bungie needs to get it through their heads that letting good players stomp all over weak ones is bad business, because the weak players leave in disgust.

              • Pvp is horrible right now but blade barrage is the least of your worries Nova warp is the most broken Super in the game And blade barrage only regenerates quickly if they have shards of galanor equipped which I would agree is broken Then you also have spectral blades with gwisin vest = broken One eyed mask = broken -blam!- it. Pvp is absolute trash

                  • Bungie is in trouble if this isnt addressed, IF Anthem is any good, a lot of the PVE players MIGHT leave for that game. IF that happens and PVP isn't going well... Destiny COULD be in trouble.

                    • The handcannons are a problem, shotguns are fine and its no different from D1, snipers have too much flinch and need a little more aim assist. Nova Warp is the problem, too long and too much armor. Blade barrage is fine, no different than saving a chaos reach or nova bomb for a instant super kill.

You are in the wrong game, bro. If good weapons offend you, I would recommend Overwatch or Halo. Crucible does suck right now, but it's got nothing to do with the gear.

                            • I think range on handcannons and shotguns is a little too high atm, it's a slippery slope though. Take too much and then they become completely useless. Autos and scout rifles could use a tiny bump in ttk but I think all of it is workable.

In D2 I get mostly 3 and barely 4. The same counts for barrage, if you don't stack with perks. That's called class diversity. Get over it.
