Played a few matches today and realized that Luna’s Howl is only dangerous if the person shooting it is good. Here’s are very different opponents I faced today with it.
Opponent 1: this person with Luna was a deadeye shot to the highest order. He stood ground, aimed his shots and repeatedly blew our heads off. You could tell that this person braved the fires of comp play and came thru the other side with his Luna’s Howl. He was calm, collected, and played like a person that has been battle tested. When engaged with this player I knew that I had to think and not fire unless I knew I could get the jump on them. Any missed shots on my part would lead to my death.
Opponent 2: I’m assuming this person paid for his Luna. This player was actually the polar opposite of opponent 1. The shots were all over the place and it seemed that they weren’t very comfortable using a hand cannon. Noticing this ,every time I saw this player I would rush in while they frantically shot at me. This usually ended with a couple shots before I closed in for a melee kill or quick shots from a AR.
Having these two opponents with Luna’s made me realize even tho that gun is good the person behind it is what really makes Luna dangerous. You can also use this same theory with any weapon in the game. I’ll happily go against a team of players using shotguns because they think it’s an easy kill. I’m not great in crucible but I do realize that observation of your opponents can help you battle them.

1 ReplyI been beating people that have luna with my West of sunfall 7. Things a monster

2 RepliesOne Eyed Mask is just a helmet. It’s the person that uses it that makes it dangerous.
I get what you’re saying, I just wanted to write this.
23 RepliesYou could make this dumbass argument about everything in the game from nova warp to not forgotten. Sometimes the tools themselves do grant a tangible advantage,, stop pretending bad players diminish the brokenness of Luna’s howl. Not asking for a nerf, but I’m also not pretending it’s a normal gun
-
That’s like saying in d1 sticky nades we’re just Grenades. And the person using them made them strong... you can use this analogy for anything, doesn’t mean it’s true
-
A good gun can make an average player much better though. I had a near god hopscotch pilgrim and became an utter beast in iron banner. I could nearly single handedly turn games and clutch some wins. That was not my skill level. That was havin one of the best guns in the meta. Well and liking how that fun felt. By contrast I sucked with a thorn even though it was the meta because I sucked at all hand cannons then.
-
1 ReplyLuna/NF and Chaperone all take a skilled hand to make them effective....and boy, is it scary when they are used effectively.
-
1 ReplyYeah you can really tell who paid for it and who actually earned it.

Edited by michael: 11/1/2018 3:34:47 PMi have lunas howl and i agree with you. while it is easy to use, at the end of the day it comes down to the user. if you suck, you suck.

Edited by TattooedOni: 11/1/2018 6:55:59 PMObviously any skilled player with an underpowered gun can outshoot a bad player with an overpowered one. That’s not what people are saying they are saying in the hands of identical skill players Luna’s is overpowered. What’s worse is taking Luna’s and NF into quickplay because you’re more likely to outshoot a worse player with a worse weapon.

9 RepliesEdited by blade329: 10/31/2018 3:06:54 PM"No, it's the gun. I'm the best player in Destiny, so only a scrub with superior gun could kill me. It's not fair. Nerf it now!" -- PvP Snowflake Seriously though, I agree with you. I got the Chaperone and I sucked with it. That's a great shotgun, but it requires head shots. I get pummeled by players with good aim. There's no weapons out there that turn bad players into elite. It's just a myth perpetuated by the Destiny PvP snowflakes.

1 ReplyAnybody remember how good that God rolled palindrome or eyasluna was from D1?
well guess what? Luna beats both of them easily
3 RepliesStrafing and vertical gameplay is the key to victory Not a 0.67 time to kill

3 RepliesEdited by Teben: 10/31/2018 6:00:32 PMIt’s true. It’s a 3 shot kill with all headshots unless you’re in the rare situation where it’s still procced from a previous kill in a 4 second window. And that still requires you to exclusively get headshots. No misses, no body shots. So they’d already have an advantage over you just on that basis alone- and that has nothing to do with the gun Let’s compare that to Malfeasance. Same fire rate, 4 shot head shot kill. Not even a quarter of a second longer to kill someone. And this is assuming nobody is missing and nobody is getting body shots in a fluid game where people are sliding jumping dodging and all other kinds of stuff. That difference is so minutely negligible. And malfeasance is widely regarded as lack luster. The average player would barely if at all notice a difference between the realistic TTK with either gun in their hand. Luna’s howl requires you to be above average in the first place to have any advantage at all. So completely agree with the OP. If you’re getting recked by someone with Luna’s Howl you’d probably be getting wrecked by them anyway even if they were using something different.

46 RepliesThats totally false. You are making it sound like Lunas Howl isnt way way WAAAAAAAY better than any other weapon in the game. That is a lie. That weapon crushes compared to any other weapon in PvP. Yes if an idiot paid for it they wont be good but that just means ANY WEAPON the blueberry shoots isnt good. Lunas Howl ALWAYS destroys in crucible

1 ReplySleeper is just a gun. That one shots. The wielder is probably a scrub.
-
2 RepliesOpponent 3: This person was carried to Fabled by his awesome clan mates and cannot for the life of him hit any shots with his luna. He was able to slowly grind with the trust but the Luna eludes him. Opponent 4: Pays for his luna because he doesnt have time to grind. Tears everyone a new one with his pristine aim and tactical awareness.
-
1 ReplyThere's a 3rd type you forgot. Basically the player like myself, who will grind through comp to get the gun, but at the same time, poor at using hand cannons lol.

So Reforge Felwinter’s Lie was just a scapegoat to remove Reforging from the Game?

2 RepliesEdited by DuBChiri2: 10/31/2018 10:33:07 PMWell let's just say that this were true...why do people use it? If it's not because it's a very powerful PvP weapon, but because the player is just good, why don't they use other weapons? I'm a good player, I use everything even weapons that suck and still do good, but imagine if you put something like that in my hands. It would be unfair for so many players because I'm incredibly accurate with precision weapons. The player isn't what makes the gun good, the player is what makes it BETTER. Losing to graviton lance users because I was using a 600 rpm auto rifle surely was because I wasn't a good player during year 1 right? I TOTALLY didn't turn games around simply by swapping my load out, and it's just because I motivated myself to get better because I was tired of dying left and right, right? It's the gun that makes the player better, but if the player is good, it also boosts the effectiveness of the weapon. Lunas howl isn't good because good players use it.

3 RepliesVex Mythoclast is just a gun. The person shooting it is what makes it dangerous.

12 RepliesEdited by CleverInvective: 10/31/2018 9:32:54 PMno 180rpm HC should 3 tap. only 140rpms and 110rpms should 3 tap.

1 ReplyThe title literally made me think of the "Guns don't kill people. People kill people with guns" saying.

1 ReplyEdited by Strafio: 10/31/2018 7:40:10 PMBefore I got the Luna's I thought this would be the case. I thought that I wouldn't be good enough at hitting those crits to get the best out of it. But it's just an all round nice weapon to use. The accuracy, recoil, handling make it easier for me to get those headshots than any other hand cannon. The standard reload is nearly as fast as outlaw for other HCs. I managed to get that 3 tap on my first attempt using it, without even having to take time to get used to the feel of the weapon. It's just so nice and user-friendly to use. Don't get me wrong, it can be outplayed, but someone armed with it will have a major advantage against someone not. I think Bungie are happy for it to be OP for a year until D3 rolls around and it becomes left behind.

5 RepliesI use Not Forgotten and if I'm truly honest with myself I must admit it's a dirty gun, lol. It's so good that if I don't get 40+kills in a game, I feel disappointed.
-
1000% agree!

Edited by Kis0l: 10/31/2018 4:05:31 PMI don't have so much of a problem with Luna's/Not Forgotten It's just that it's a competitive weapon and in casual quickplay it can be annoying having a sweaty player just two shotting everyone. Even if you are calculated and play smart you'll just get killed before you can even make sufficient damage. Catching them by surprise is hard to since radar spots players 60 miles away and I play a lot like I did in D1 so I don't find it fun ganking players
