Worried of the game being broken...

I remember watching the development team in an interview post forsaken release, and one of them said that the changes they made to the sandbox and game might break the game. Guess what? it isn’t broken and I think this is what the players been wanting for a long time or what destiny 2 should have been at launch. I give bungie a lot of credit for the drastic change they made to the game and most if not all changes are great or exceptional but a lot of people have left and are over destiny for sure even forsaken hasn’t bought some people back. My thing is with all the game releases coming out this fall will destiny 2 stay alive? Hope so but I think it’s going to be dragging on one leg. I personally think red dead redemption 2 is going to drive a lot of players away especially once they launch online mode. My question is why change the game so much at launch? Destiny 1 wasn’t broken towards the end. bungie could have took what was good there and keep it going with that formula by just adding more onto it. A lot of vanilla changes I don’t recall being asked for. I could be wrong but 4vs4 was a mistake, tokens was a mistake even A lot of currency drought like masterwork Cores. There is a lot more but I don’t want to make this complaint list, just my thoughts. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”

    • Destiny 2 is in a good place at present. It’s best place since the beginning of d1 yr 2. As long as they don’t start making it really casual again it should make it through yr2. Not sure as a day 1 player I will rush into yr 3, as both anthem and the division 2 hit in the spring and both look awesome

Most people eventually get bored of the most massive open world rpg games. They aren't really games that ask you to come back all the time. You finish and thats pretty much it. As far as the game changing for the worse, i think we're safe from a vanilla d2 launch repeat. I think they realize now finally what the overwhelming majority of Destiny players enjoy. For all the crap everyone gave Bungie surrounding the summit and listening to streamers, we ended up with the best version of Destiny to date. Thats not to say its perfect or there won't be future minor miscues but I have strong doubts about falling off as hard as it did for D2 year 1.

          • I’m loving the game. There are still areas for improvement and the game is still significantly lacking in both story and gear progression options but it’s fun again. I don’t think the game has to keep the player base 24/7 to be successful. They need infrastructure that keeps some people playing but allows most to leave and come back when new content drops. Playing games doesn’t have to be mutually exclusive. I’m looking forward to Anthem and Fallout 76 but I have no issue dropping a meals worth of money to support D2 if they continue to make the game the way they are (more challenges, darker tone, interesting exotics and abilities). Sure I’d love more out of the game and have some complaints but overall, I’m very happy with the direction that forsaken has taken the franchise.

          • The problem is Destiny is trying to be something its not and failing hard. By standard and when all said and done Destiny is an MMO style game that is horrible at its job. The other problem is the playerbase. Before we grab pitchforks and scream heretic this is why it is. Most of the playerbase is still riding the Destiny 1 mindset of progression. That is just how it was. Everyone wants to be the highest light as fast as possible. Thats not how MMOs work. Yes the cost for progression is really damn high but that is because we forced it like that with super fast leveling. So they made it harder. If it gets rolled back then wow everyone can be 600 in no time. It needs tuning starting with removing planetary resources and using them as currency to the respected vendor to buy things like matterweaves or unique bounties with modifiers. MW cores as rewards are steps in the right direction but also need to be reduced in masterworking and used to buy other masterwork mods. I highly doubt I need extra reload speed on an outlaw perk gun. Mod components need to be more readily available or able to buy for weapon parts cause there is no sense in me turning in 2000 weapon parts for 20 pieces of trash that will become weapon parts. Now the big one. Raids. I have an issue with how raids are handled in this game... Too short. When I hear the word Raid I think of WoW raids like Molten Core or Firelands. Shit took a decent amount of time to kill a boss. This game is below what I consider a Raid and needs to have Blizzard teach them a thing or too. Also I know Blizzard is in a bad spot right now but it wouldn't be the first time. Destiny 2 is bleeding steadily and it shows.
