1. Keep in mind the grimoire was developed because they cut out the original story but needed something for players in order to create some amount of interest and investment. 2. Also keep in mind that good lore is not 1000% true or factual. Look at Elder Scrolls, they make sure that all the in game books are written from the perspective of someone living in that world. So there are a lot of things open to misinterpretation giving the writers room while more importantly making the world feel lived in and believable. Look at our world, we have hundreds of mythologies and folk tales, while they are not true they do speak of what kind of culture they were apart of at the time. 3. Byf is a fan of the game who puts together information that he has found in the game. He is not writing the lore nor is he lore master. AND it should not take a youtube creator to piece together grimoire and lore pieces in order to create anything resembling and complete narrative. Sure feel free to make that sort of content, but it should not be his job to pick up mess and Bungie needs to do a better job in the world-building department. 4. There are a dozen other ways lore, whether accurate or not, can be put in this game. Things like: Books, Journals, Audio recordings, Video recordings, Holograms, Character Dialogue and Questioning, Lore entries for every enemy type you encounter and kill, Scanning environments & items & people, Random Encounters, Memorabilia, etc. and so many more. The Grimoire should be a collection of all these things. Heck, have the Ghost read some of the lore to you as you walk around Destiny is a fantasy/sci-fi hybrid so that gives it ALOT of room for implementing lore. That all being said. Campaign stories should be Longer and make sure their context ACTUALLY in the game. We shouldn't need outside lore sources like Youtube and Comics to learn the lore. Byf is right that the Campaign should expanse the whole game, rather than being only the beginning of the game. All the side quests and adventures should in some manner serve the ending of the campaign. Diablo 3 did this very well. I strongly agree with this other post that says to not make the player the main character. That kind of storytelling doesn't work in Online Co-Operative stories. Suddenly everyone is the chosen savior.

I'm still at a lose as to why he wasn't at the summit. Byf, jus like Myelin Games & Beard Grizzly & the likes, have done a huge service to this game, and more so, to its fans. It's like Bungie has all these brilliant bits of Lego, but they can't build for sh#t. And then these other kids come round & help them make a way cool spaceship..

To bad he wasn't invited to the summit weather the summit was trash or not. The lore community didn't have much of a representation.

I watch all of Byf as it’s interesting stuff. Saying that I played the main campaign 3 x PS4, 3 x PC, COO 3 x PS4, 3 x PC and Warmind 3 x PC. I speed ran everything and skipped all cutscenes for every run. I don’t play for the campaign as it’s mind numbing, so get me to the end game ASAP. I love good lore and storytelling, TLOU, GOW, Uncharted etc but Destiny just doesn’t have the special sauce. I wish it did, and until then it’s a speedrun lads! Edit/Addition: The best story from D1 and D2 is what actually happens in the walls of Bungie, all the drama and reboots! Not to mention following the disastrous decision making for the narratives that ensue. Triple A!

I stopped filling bug a long time ago he’s just too full of himself he seems to think that he is the ultimate authority on the lore and it should all fit into his head canon destiny is not a story based game at its core it is just a shooter

The new writer, the woman who was fired from Marvel for childlike story telling, you know the one with the brother at Activision (cough cough), signed a 3yr contract and her first year was last year so the childlike storylines are going nowhere.

Bungie has made 'lore' irrelevant. This makes Byf, whose whole reason for being in Destiny IS lore, irrelevant. Bungie marginalized Byf and he knows it. Byf was all up in Bungie when it benefitted him, now he is angry. Not as much angry that the lore is 'gone', but angry that his bread and butter gig was marginalized.
