2 students shot, 1 in critical condition, and then the shooter gets taken down by school resource officer.
It should go without saying, it still sucks that this happened, and I hope the two victims are able to recover, but that's a hell of a lot better than the shooter being unopposed for several minutes while Dudley do nothing waits outside doing... nothing.
"Hurr durr the nra says the answer to gun violence is more guns"
I wonder why Shannon Watt's first instinct is to criticize an NRA spokesperson? Oh the irony. In that tweet could be it's own thread.

1 ReplyYou've been waiting for this the whole time you've been lurking around on these forums. Finally some evidence to back up your "good guy with a gun" nonsense. Meanwhile, over in the civilized world we're celebrating another massacre-free month.
-
2 RepliesThe solution to bad guys with guns is good guys with guns. Which is why the police carry them. And why few police support gun control.
-
2 RepliesI wouldn't say 1 instance, out of the 16 shootings so far in 2018, makes the case. Further, this was a security officer, with weapons training, not a teacher. I basically think if an adult in our country wants to own a gun they should be able to, provided they don't have a history of committing violent crimes or of serious mental illness. I realize that simply thinking violent criminals and crazy people shouldn't have guns, will likely result in me being called a whiny liberal by pro-gun ppl, but I don't care. Someone has to be rational, and draw some sort of line, because it seems the only discussion acceptable to pro-gunners is that we have no discussion at all.

7 RepliesFunny how he was a trained professional and not some random scrub.

6 RepliesThe comments 🙄 "This easily could've been prevented" *then continues to list examples on how even though they have flaws*. In the end you're only ever going to LIMIT this, there will never be a guaranteed thing on preventing these scenarios. You can bring up "add guards", "metal detectors", "more restrictions on guns", etc etc but they all have flaws that can be exploited. This outcome is better than 10+ people dieing. Yes even just one is to many, but again, you will never be able to fully prevent this from occurring.
-
4 RepliesWell thats excellent. I've never had a problem with security guards im schools. My High school had 3. But two other people still died and that could've been avoided if the shooter couldn't have gotten a gun.
-
43 RepliesThe truth of the matter is that the only way to stop a guy with a gun trying to kill you as to pick up a gun and shoot him yourself. So if we had more people with guns around schools to actually serve and protect our children then the number of casualties and school shootings in general would reduce greatly.
-
6 RepliesSo if I understand correctly a antigun lady said it was bad to use guns to stop a killer with a gun?

8 RepliesDon't expect it to show up on the news. No deaths means no money in it.
And yes, I realize how cynical that is
1 ReplyHow is this, today’s #1 trending post. . .

37 RepliesI can think of at least 2 ways this could have easily been prevented: 1. Metal detectors. 2. Common sense. The shooter wasn't legally able to get a gun, so how did he get it? 20 bucks says his dumb ass father kept it unsecured in his house where the kid could just walk up to it and grab it. People always talk about "responsible gun owners." Bullshit. If your kid knows the combo to your safe, or you don't even have it in a safe, then you're a dumb ass who shouldn't own a gun. Now I'm just speculating, but I HIGHLY doubt this kid was some hardened criminal with connections to get a gun on the street. I'd bet my left nut one of his idiot family members had purchased a gun legally and just left it unsecured.

Difference here is the resource officer acted. Which I’m all for, armed officers, defensive design, license renewals near annual.
-
7 RepliesThe problem with this is that, once again, it could have been easily prevented. Increase security at school entrances, increase control on guns and their owners, etc.
-
Why have school shootings spiked in number of occurrences from Febuary to March 2018?

It's funny how every single news site I go on reports that they still don't know if the shooter died from the exchange of gunfire or from a self-inflicted gunshot. But, of course, the definitely-not-biased 'the truth about guns' website is adamant that the perpetrator was killed by the Sheriff's Deputy. It should also be noted that investigators were still uncertain who fired the shot that hit the 14-year-old victim, so it's perfectly possible that rather than protect the school children the Sheriff's Deputy actually shot one of them - no doubt we will find out in due course when the ballistics are checked.

8 RepliesThis is a trained individual. Not many people are against armed SROs for that very reason. The argument is against arming teachers who most likely are not trained and will never have the kind of training as a LEO.

Hey I’ll give you that . It’s an outcome. But. School shooting.

Just saw it on the news.
