So when I first got D1 around Xmas time after its initial release, I had read that the team had a 10 plan for the franchise which I though "great, there in this for the long haul and should have some great things queued up for years to come". Now I don't spend all my free time being a bungee groove and reading all their articles or glued to their social media outlets, so when I started to hear about D2, I was like wtf, I thought they committed to a 10 year plan. Why are they stopping Destiny, and already doing a reboot. Now I've been playing D2 since it's launch and am reading posts here about D3. So my question is was the original 10 year plan supposed to be these modular releases, that really just make you star all over again imo, or can they just not get it right, and the answer is a reboot? I'd really love to hear an explanation form a company spokes person as they should be in the know of the vision and official project plan for the franchise. I would understand a D2 after 10 years of D1 game play and story, picking up on an alternate storyline or something, but this just seems like it's spinning with no direction. How can you establish a solid game, if your rebooting it every 3 years and starting from scratch? Or am I missing something?
I'd really like to hear feedback on task to the post, I know a lot of people have there issues with the game and are pissed, but if we can keep the flaming down hopefully we can get some answers.

Destiny 3? I'm still wondering why there is a Destiny 2.
-
There will be a destiny 3 so they can re-skin destiny 1 and sell it again and say they listened to all the feed back in destiny 2.
-
So that bungie can charge 60 bucks to find out whats up with the triangle ships only to reveal that they are -insert reskinned enemy already killed 1,000,000 times before-

1 ReplyAt this point, I wouldn't loose an ounce of sleep if Destiny 3 never happens.
-
There shouldn't have even been D2

3 RepliesDestiny franchise is now CoD. With space magic.

Why would there be a Destiny 3??
Because that's what comes after Destiny 2?
-
The franchise is a 10 year plan, not the actual game.
-
you miss understood what they said, there is a 10 year plan for a franchise and not the game itself

47 RepliesEdited by Killbilly Karma: 2/19/2018 11:10:12 PMPeople are actually talking about a D4 in their replies?! There is a very good chance there will not even be a D3, let alone a D4. Yes, there is a 10 year contract. However, part of that contract includes mechanisms by which four iterations of Destiny are not made and/or the franchise does not continue for ten years. For example, a material failure on Bungie's part to meet development and/or release milestones and timelines. In fact, that has already happened several times. Activision could have simply absorbed Bungie and its assets for breaching the contract, but didn't. Why? Because at the beginning of D1 Activision's (significant) investment had yet to be meaningfully recouped. Later, sales were strong and player count was robust. That all changed with D2. D2 sold very well. Initially. It was riding on the coat tails of D1. Those days are past. D2's metrics are bad. So bad that even stockholders have taken note. Sales are flat. Player count is abysmal and continuing to fall. The (large majority of the) player base is openly hostile toward the franchise and Bungie - not just critical; hostile. Activision's projected profits, which included a successful D2, are being reworked - downward - with statements like CoD WW2's profits will hopefully offset lost D2 profits. This is why stockholders, advisors, board members, etc., are looking very closely at the Bungie and the Destiny franchise. And that 10 year, 4 game contract. It's no longer just a case of Bungie needing to win back customer/player base trust and confidence, but Activision's, and investors'. Now, take an honest look at that Roadmap that Bungie released and what they have accomplished thus far. No significant changes (if they can be called that) are due until the Fall (around the time the next major paid expansion is due, mind you). And those 'significant changes' are simply giving back a few of the game mechanics we already had in D1. This is Bungie's Roadmap to 'fix' the game. It's Bungie's Roadmap to win back trust and confidence. Assuming Bungie does exactly what they've laid out, and in the time they've designated, the game will still not be 'fixed.' Not in my eyes. Not by a long shot. I will also still not trust Bungie or have confidence in it or the Destiny franchise. I will still not spend a dime more. I'm far from alone in my feelings about this. And, I believe, so many others feel the same that there is no way for D3 to be a success. Not a AAA-level success that can earn the massive amount of money to cover the equally massive investment that a D3 would require. I also believe that there are many board members and investors and stockholders who believe the same. Bottom line - Bungie absolutely broke the Destiny franchise with D2 and their 'Roadmap' fix is far too little and far too late to salvage the game. I believe that it just won't be financially viable for Activision to green light a D3. I fully expect Activision to exercise its contractual rights and absorb Bungie and its resources to help recoup its investment to date. TL/DR: The 'Roadmap' is hospice care. The Destiny franchise is terminal. There won't be a D3 and likely won't be a Bungie too much longer.

1 ReplyAt this stage, D3 seems doubtful. D2 was spectacularly misconceived, and now it's foundering badly. The audience who fell in love with D1 have either gone back to it or moved on in disgust. A few players remain, either serious addicts, people who actually like the changes, or newcomers who don't realize how inferior D2 is. But, there's 2-1/2 years before D3's projected release date. Plenty of time for things to turn around. Look how quickly they were able to trash the franchise, after all.

Destiny3 will be rebranded to Eververse 3
-
See, all this comes from a severe misunderstanding of the contract. Bungie’s contract states that they have to make a new Destiny title every 2 years. 1, 2, 3 And 4. There was no 10 year plan.

6 Replies*D3* Calus finds a way to resurrect Atheon, Crota, Oryx and Aksis and together they join up with our guardian to wipe out earth and everything else. Traveler is rebuilt and serves us exclusivly. Everyone has all god powers and guns from D1 and D2 and all live happily ever after on Calus's bigass ship that is now inside Oryx's throne realm surrounded by a massive vex simulation while we play infinite hoard mode with Crota, Savathun and the reborn Siva Iron Lord's. Then a mysterious figure named L'ukë Smissū appears and turns off the Destiny servers and everything gets erased. The End.
-
Good question. It would make more sense if they made a D2 before D3.
-
Because, I asked bungie personally to make it. Duh #Destiny4life

The 10 year plan consists of a contract, which includes 4 destiny games....this is old news
-
1 ReplyDon’t worry, there won’t be. At least not in my house, Madea don’t play that shit.
-
D2 has shown us that we cannot put our trust and gaming hours into this franchise any longer.

7 Replies10 year 4 game contract with 4 comet dlc
-
3 RepliesThat ten year thing was just a nice PR gag. They told us in 2016 it was a nice myth that developed in 2014 and was a misinterpretation they did nothing to correct, because it was good for them! What a bunch of assholes.

There won’t be a Destiny 3 No reason to create it
-
It's simple why: Bungie is trying to survive a financial nightmare of an legally binding contractual partnership with ATVI, while retaining ownership of her Destiny licenses. ATVI is making royalties on every game sold, every toy sold, etc... BOTH have critical reasons to continue. ATVI likes the cash income. Bungie doesn't need to lose Destiny to Activision Publishing. Unless Bungie goes bankrupt, I fully expect a comet2, D3, comet3, D4 and a final comet4. Not on the OG 10 yr plan schedule though. Even if Bungie were to financially fold, I would guess ATVI would continue Destiny production. But, THEN it would be ALL about player population and the numbers game.

1 ReplyThey never said 10-year game, they said 10-year franchise.
