Why is liking this game bad?

I just like this game. So I don't really know why there is so much hate. It's why I feel a lot of the hate is exaggerated like it's armageddon. Yes, I played d1. (Different account/different system, but in the household. )

  • Same enemies for almost 4 years minus the taken that is 2 years with almost no new enemy types besides 2. Weapon overhaul gutted the power fantasy. Skill trees regressed instead of improving upon builds. Trials took a gigantic step back when it was already in a dangerous spot. PvP became super weighted towards running it stacked in Quickplay just to have fun. Raid design took a giant hit to ingenuity, too many "puzzle encounters" and no bosses. Raid bosses are again just turrets instead of bosses. Take shield down DPS kill adds. Boooring. Exotics got gutted in power and are now solely the only way to have a semblance of a "build". No secrets in the game at all when we praised it as a community in TTK and the Outbreak Prime. Leveling up now became a weekly checklist instead of a grind in a game all about loot. Strike specific rewards are absent. Still no horde mode that the game desperately needs with a competant system put in and endless mode. Challenge is completely arbitrary, just tanky enemies/encounters. Storytelling is better from Garbage to cringy. What a upgrade. >_> Lack of meaningful balance updates that change up the "Meta" I can't stand playing the same boring meta for going on 6 months now. Expansions that don't add to the end game besides a raid lair "which is good, but we need more than just a raid lair" Pointless reasons to do the Prestige Raids. Prestige raid STILL not adding anything to the raiding scene besides tankier enemies and very slight tweaks to the raids. Where are my final boss phases? Where are dramatic changes to the encounters? I shouldn't be asking how tanky enemies are going to be in Prestige mode while I am going through the raid for the first time in normal I should be asking "How are they going to change this encounter up in Prestige mode?"

  • There’s nothing wrong with liking the game. I’m just surprised that you actually found anything that’s friggin’ likable.

    • Here is why we hate Same enemies again after 4 years. Teamshoot based pvp All reskinned weapons and no random rolls Eververse No freedom to choose pvp game type No ranked matches No seperation for pvp from pve Ridicilously high ttk Nonsense subclass paths Same guns dominating the game Useless stats Ridiculously high ability recharge time Meaningless and useless exotics Shitty seasonal rewards and activities. Shitty and useless activity rewards Luke Smith And we paid money for that bullshit

      • It's in a bit of an awkward spot for me. I think the root of the problem is that I was really feeling the burnout towards the end of D1. I just couldn't stay engaged when the gameplay is essentially more of the same with less of the fun. I still hop on every now and then, but not even close to the degree I played the first game.

        • Hate trains. Pretty much that. Other than that. This is still a pretty decent game. Granted the management of the franchise has been well off the mark on more than one occasion, but if you can just put all that aside and still enjoy the game, then it’s not a horrible way to relax after a long day of work.

        • i will try to explain it to you in quiet calm words. the situation of the games industry at the current time is a bad one for the gamer. the games industry has discovered that it can make more money be delivering less game to the players by slowly dripfeeding the users content at at higher price than actually delivering a full game.. P2P connections over dedicated servers lootboxes over arievable loot narrative driven dialogues instead of a story driven plot. resuse of content instead of new content and destiny is at the hearth of it. You should not be okay with buying a skeleton of a game where the developing studio hopes to sell the meat and the skin for an extra price when it should already been in the game. Games as service targets YOUR wallet and aims at a total price of abut 200$ per game from you.. but that is not even the bad part.. i would hapily pay 200 bucks for a complete game that i can have fun with several years .. its the lying. and we have seen this epidemic desease outspread everywhere. from the complete lack of single player effort in Evolve, TitanFall1, and Battlefront1.. to the game shift that was not announced in Prey and the underlying lies in season passes for CoD which simply does not contain anythign else than muliplayer maps.. everything in the last 2 year was scoped to "more money, less effort".. multiplayer only games are cheaper than single player campaigns.. storydriven narrative is expensive and NEEDS to be..but the division and destiny has scratched their story arcs for a more multiplayer centered experience since the big money makers behind that studios activision and Ubisoft wanted the cheap Multiplayer in front rather than the expensive and complicated to create story driven single player.. and its important that older players point out one games shortcomings because newer players might not know.. a friend of mine did not understand why i was upset withMass Effect : Andromenda since he thought it was an okay game.. i gave him my ps3 and ME:2 and ME:3 and had him play through all of it.. and after that he understood that ME:A was just a horrible disgrace to the series..something that is hard to understand for new players . also, you need to understand that Taken King and rise of iron was Only achieved after the community was outspoken against such shallow and shitty dlc as Down below or house of wolves.. which were sold on the back of a lie.. and curse of osiris was even worse than this.. and please understand the frustration of the playerbase: we fought 3 years for a decent game that was worth the money.. we got Destiny: Rise of Iron edition and finally got a Game worth 70$ with all the previous dlc included.. it still lacked story and lore IN GAME but we were sure that the studio learned its lessons and woudl create Destiny 2 starting where Destiny 1 Riso of Iron left of. basically everyone was devastated when d2 released and most of the accomplishments of the game were lacking in there.. the players understood that the studios devlopers do not play the game.. luke smith even grilled mark noseworthy in an interview that mark could not even properly chose his class perks.. and Luke smith admitted that he designed the games progression system with his two 4 year old nieces in mind and NOT the playerbase.. also check cozmos and Deejs accouts on destinytracker and see a profile of people who do not play the game. so thats the reason why you get slapped on the head for liking this game.. because at its current state its SHlT compared to Destiny 1 Rise of iron and its a bottomless shame that the developers do not care about the playerbase enough to stop lying and deliver a consistent game to the audience . I dont even blame Deej for pulling the wool over the eyes of the audience by claiming its a "either or" descision if the studio should work on a roadmap to present to the player or work on improving the game.. its just a lie he has to tell. there os no "or" there is already a roadmap and its the wrong one and the studio knew. now the studio needs to approach activision, cancel D3 release and work on the second dlc with ALL personal at Bungie..to deliver the turning point to the franchise.. DLC2 needs - min 30 hours of single player game play.. - Matchmaking for all activities - different difficulty settings for everything - daily and weekly playlists - hidden quests - hidden exotics - a New Raid - two raid difficulties - random rolls on a weapon or armor - separate Pve and PvP stats on a weapon - transmog - private matches - SRL - modifyers for strikes, nightfall and raid. - slow grind lane - possibility of OVERPOWER content.. - new enemy race/faction - interactive vendors - vendor story arcs - faction interaction - world exploration - bigger worlds - random mode like greater fifts in diablo III - way more interactive NPC, just take a not from monster hunter world.. - patrol mode encoutners random - space flight/fight - in game grimoire - in game kiosks - record books. and many more.. so lets get to it..

Because if we like the game changes won’t be made and we wouldn’t be getting this type of communication from bungie. Example: We all liked the game when it launched but once we started to find out that this game was nothing compared to D1, which was around a month after launch, we started to leave and bungie thought oh they’ll come back Curse of Osiris but that was a shit dlc, the Dark Below seemed better and that was only three story missions, and to top it off we had Dawning of Tess event which blew the lid on everything So if we liked the game Tess will still have remained the end game Crimson days would have been like the Dawning Sandbox would stay the same (which sandbox should change every two months) Strike loot wouldn’t have been a thing in D2 Nightfall would have stayed shit And the list goes on...

            • It’s just that Bungie screwed the majority of Destiny fans over with how they made D2. Most people dislike the changes to loot an loadout system. Most people dislike that our once mighty abilities and weapons are now pure bullshit. And of you are not with us, you are against us.

            • It's not bad that you like D2, unfortunately some people feel you should share they're opinions, I'm a d1 veteran but do not like the state of D2, however that's my opinion, it's good you're enjoying yourself, don't worry about others, peace guardian

            • I hear ya. I have fun every week. Played each week since House of Wolves. I understand the game isn't perfect but apparently some crazy stuff happened, like Luke Smith broke into peoples' houses and took a dump on their kitchen counter or something. I dunno why people are freaking out so much. Improvements are in the works. I am tired of the whole "it should have been there to begin with" statement. It doesn't matter if it should or shouldn't have. It isn't right now. Take a few deep breaths. Chill out a bit. Go do something else for a few months then come back after all these updates. There is more to life than rage trolling the forums. Now someone previously said to state why you enjoy the game. I have fun with the gunplay. You really can't beat destiny gunplay. Even with a somewhat lacking progression system the core gunplay is still amazing. Even without the "skill gap" that people seem to be lamenting. I enjoy some of the subclass builds, even though options are limited it is still fun. I just spend time running new builds and subclasses. Switch things up if I get bored. Try X exotic with Y subclass. Try to come up with new ways to play. I also only play like 10 hours a week so maybe that is why I still enjoy it. I think people just need to tone it back a bit.

So time for an analogy. D1 was that last gen Samsung tv. It had all the bells and whistles. Picture quality was decent. Not bad but not great. 3 HDMI ports. A video and usb port. Also had Wi-Fi. D2 was supposed to be the Samsung +. Instead you scratch at the label to reveal Toshiba. 1 HDMI port reason given is manufacture didn't think you needed more. No usb or Wi-Fi but they may sell a dongle down the road. That dongle btw will use your only HDMI port. Also they slowed the refresh rate down from 144hz to 60hz because they thought you were seeing too many images to fast (pvp for the dumbldumb ) . Pretty sure this sums it up.

              • Not necessarily bad to like the game, definitely a minority view on the forums though. A lot of us are very disappointed in the game, and some decide to go after people that like the game because they see it as a detriment to getting it fixed. I hope they get the game fixed because if they make it tolerable for those of us disappointed, it should make it that much better for those of you who already like it.
