Yeah because exotic’s were hard to obtain and reaching max light level was difficult plus the nightfalls were brutal now plus people grinded for the perfect weapon roll s and now you get given everything really easy and that’s why the game sucks really bad.

PVE Destiny 1 Vanilla's only problem (outside of the lack of a story campaign) was the time investment was too long to upgrade weapons and armour along with some currency issues ( shards etc). That was about it. The much slower drip feeding of exotic weapons and armour was all the incentive you needed to do the Strikes and Raid. It's true it got better with time, however it got a little too easy to collect everything towards the end making the hunt dissipate far sooner than in vanilla. PVP. Was fine in Destiny 1 Vanilla, Destiny 2's moving of the power weapons (one hit kill snipers shotties etc) to the heavy slot was needed and the only fantastic thing they have done that is better in the new game than D1. Back to vanilla D1, yes some tuning of weapons such as the mythoclast were needed but for the most part, PvP was FUN up until TTK untill bloom arrived and everything was getting nerfed to the ground. Bloom is a disaster and a product of lazy balancing and it's disgusting that it is still a thing in this game franchise. So to conclude, after much weighing I truly believe Vanilla D1 > Vanilla D2... HOWEVER The story is miles better in D2 but end game/incentive/discovery/excitement was far superior in D1.

  • It was, partly because everything was new... In d2, not one new grenade was added and only one truly new crucible mode... For a sequel that's pathetic

  • Yes for end game content No for campaign and story. Until they cleaned it up with TTK expansion, the story made hardly any sense and the writers used a cop out of “i don’t have time to explain” for a story that was not properly fleshed out. The story got much better after TTK released

  • Yes... Better exotics Better strikes Better gear Better raid Better pvp Ect... I played the alpha and beta then the vanilla release exclusively for an extended period of time on all three subclasses. 100s of raid completions I was sick of d2 in less than 2 weeks and didn’t even bother starting a warlock... So basically: “yea, this game sucks”

Absolutely not. I had friends leaving vanilla D1. Legendary engrams turning into rares. Forever 29. No infusion. Material Farming. Discombobulated story. It was a mess, the foundation of D2 is stellar in comparison, and this game will end up being better period, just not on our time table.

      • No. But that's not a particularly meaningful comparison.

that's a false comparison on so many points. the question you should be asking is - Is Destiny 2 better than where Destiny 1 left off? And the answer is no. This is a sequel, not a ReBoot, it should be compared to the Final iteration of the LAST game not the initial release If this was a ReBoot of vanilla Destiny 1 it would be a fair question.

        • Honestly, no probably not. BUT, I played Vanilla Destiny continuously until Dark Below, never took a week off. It was fun, I always had something to play for, and I enjoyed it immensely. The reason that I found it enjoyable was probably because it was BRAND new. Destiny 2 is a worse reskin of Destiny, after they fixed a whole bunch of stuff. I'd honestly still be playing Destiny 2 if they added random rolls back onto weapons and armor. That's all it would take. I'd be fine with the token system, I'd be fine with the lame raid, I'd be fine with the forgettable characters. Give me something to grind for and I'm there! Destiny 2 has a grind for cosmetics, which I'm not interested in...

        • Better? No. More enjoyable because it was brand new? Yes. D2 not as enjoyable because we played 3 years worth of D1? Yes. Despite D2 having glaring flaws am I still enjoying it? You betcha.

        • No. You're hearing nostalgia and resentment towards the direction Destiny 2 has gone relative to Year 3 of Destiny 1. Vanilla Destiny 1 was a poorly designed, unrewarding RPG that was only saved by its fantastic feel of it shooter mechanics. Anyone who tells you different has either forgotten or has deliberately chosen to overlook the fact that people found it more rewarding to stand in the open world and shoot into monster closets than actually play the game.... ...and that the game was being dominated to the breaking point by grossly overpowered raid weapons and exotics.

Depends on how you define better. Destiny 2 has more content but Destiny 1 had more incentive to play said content. Vanilla Destiny 1 was more fun to play than Vanilla Destiny 2 is. Also, vanilla Destiny 1 was brand new. It was fresh and felt fresh. Destiny 2 does not feel fresh at all, IMO. I really don't see anything in D2 that couldn't have been implemented as a expansion for D1.

          • Yes! They made it too easy. Casual peeshooter is what it is now. With the most boring guns in the whole gaming industry. Lootdrops in fornite feel better then the crappy reskins we get in d2

            • The only way destiny was better was because we had no clue what to expect. We hunted every square inch looking for hidden secrets. Spent days in the vog looking for the mythical “6th chest”... An rng for some really good weapons helped as well... until they were found and then nerfed. Once crota dropped, I knew where this game was going. Very little effort and the unknown mysteries of destiny were proven not exist. Destiny 2 is better... but after 3 years of coming to grips that there are no secrets, no mysteries, no lost land to find.... it feels very shallow. Game mechanics are still top notch, and I do like a lot of the changes... but there is nothing there that a player can chase and have a badge of honor with their accomplishment. Like the vex mytho before the great nerf... that got nerfed before every player could get it. I like logging in, helping players out, trying to master the nightfall maps for prestige mode etc... I can care less about god roll hunting, but the weapons do not feel as rewarding. Example, I HATE RELOADING THE BETTER DEVIL, or any hand cannon in d2, but I like using them due to damage output. There are things to fix for most players, no doubt, but there is nothing out there that you can log in, group up with your friends, just mess around, play pvp, do a raid, a strike, public events, play casually or be try hards, and or have dance parties anywhere at any moment... Until there is a game that does it better.... I’m good. The money I spent vs the time with my friends is beyond balanced.
