DESTINY had 3 years of development, and what's hard to comprehend is how BUNGIE has taken a ridiculous amount of content and features away in D2 which does NOT make sense.
D1 was Bungies training course. D2 was supposed to be everything they have learned and then some. The strikes are not any better and other content is really not above par from D1.
Don't get me wrong I love the game and I invest a good amount of time with it, but entirely too much was taken away, and the mistakes that we see already in D2 should have been learned from in D1. How the F could BUNGIE royally F up the meta in the Crucible??? After 3 years of tedious weapon balance and they F it up first time around with MIDA at every corner. Test players??? Beta???
Rant is over. I am more grateful than bitter over D2 , but some things that were left out just don't make sense to me.
PS. I DELETED MY MIDA after a few days of using it. I didn't want to feel LIMITED by one gun that I had already used a lot in D1. In my humble opinion IT IS A CRUTCH for me and the vast majority that use it. They are comfortable with it and they haven't given other weapons a chance in D2.
I think it was a stupid move to bring back weapons and armor from D1 but they did. D2 was a clean slate but it wasn't taken advantage of. If all else they could have reskinned the MIDA and called it something else Don't think there would be so much negativity if that was the case.
Edit: been using SEVEN SIX FIVE SCOUT RIFLE w much success countering the mighty MIDA.

4 RepliesIsn't everyone running mida multi tool good? It balances the game with everyone having the same loadout. I assume that's what the PvP people wanted after years of bitching about thorn and special ammo and snipers and shotguns. You people asked for slow and boring and you got what you asked for.

I enjoyed the first few days of crucible where everyone was using a variety of different weapons. It was fun and refreshing from d1 to see different weapons from all types being used. Few days later, everyone is using MIDA, crucible is boring and frustrating. Shame I couldn't play very much of the early d2 crucible since matchmaking was broken for me. I actually wanted to play it for fun then, now I only play it for the milestones. It's not fun when everyone is using the same thing, but that will never change so just gotta get over it i guess

They made this game so casual it's boring as hell once you've done everything. What I hated are the static perks on everything, there's no variety anymore for the stake of making balance easier (not like bungie even balances things anymore). Takes away from farming for the perfect weapon or armor. There whole advertising campaign revolved around loot and sure loot drops like candy there is no real variety.

I'm glad I have low expectations of them I just play crucible that's all

All they had to do 2 or so years ago was nerf EXOTIC hand cannon range and damage by a little bit, and buff auto rifles and scout rifles by a little bit. But oh no, we needed this huge chain reaction of blanket nerfs and reduction to accuracy, range, damage, ammo, field scout, lucky bullets, precision damage, stability, etc. So we're stuck with this painfully slow and weak team shooter where maps are just big open spaces where you hug a wall and ADS waiting for someone to peek when you see red on the radar.

Edited by Eyes Alive: 9/24/2017 3:31:20 PMI totally agree. I logged over a 1000 hours in D1 and am already fed up and bored with D2. Crucible is HORRIBLE right now! Strikes are too long and have terrible loot. Timed Nighfalls are the most frustrating and stupid feature EVER!!! Trials is a MIDA camp fest! The Raid is not very fun with the revive tokens and the fact you have to get a perfect run in every room and not to mention a terrible loot system. All in all I'm VERY disappointed in this game which is sad because I spent over 2 years playing D1. Too bad BUNGIE seems to never learn from their mistakes :(

It's less the MIDA and more the maps. These maps have much longer relevant lines of sight. These maps are more consistent with pve maps. This sets up scouts in general to be optimal in these maps. Add to that the new weapon system. You can equip something other than a side arm to round out scouts. There's less downside to choosing one now. Also fewer sniper which were a counter to scouts in D1 longer maps. The solution here isn't to nerf MIDA but to extend the effective ranges of other weapon types, mostly select HCs and pulses. As for strikes, the bosses seem more dynamic which is good. Most of the pve content development appears to have been on the world and world events over strikes. I'd expect the next content drop of strikes to be a bit better, unless the infinite forest ends of being something crazy and game changing. As far as pve goes, what we have now is a foundation. We won't get a "finished product" till the final content drops. As such the foundation looks pretty good. Not perfect, but lots of potential.

6 RepliesThose that enjoy destiny 2, keep on playin. Those that dont, take your beating and move on to the next game. You spent money, you arent going to get it back, either adapt or leave.

4 RepliesIt's not a big deal about content, there's plenty to do,games fine , I have a good time and enjoy it. If I get to a point I'm not having fun I play other games, there are literally 1000's out there. People take this shit too seriously, there's other things in this world to be concerned about.

3 Replies1 step forward 2 steps back

I have to agree. After reaching level 20 and a light level of 265 it's really a grind to progress further. I don't have the time to commit to raids and night falls and crucible is so boring. I'm really struggling to come up with reasons to continue playing.
-
Totally agree on Strikes and Crucible. The gameplay in the strikes is a downgrade from The Taken King. Oh how I miss the Bond Brothers and the Darkblade. 4v4 only PvP (with no dedicated servers in 2017) just ain't working for the majority of the play base. Also going to point out that the Leviathian raid is vying for the title of worst Destiny raid. Such a waste of resources.

1 ReplyEdited by Jebus Kreist: 9/24/2017 9:02:53 AMDestiny 1 after Taken King and Rise of Iron is like Destiny 1.5 with all the changes and fixes that fundamentally "rocked the boat" so to speak. Destiny 2 is like they rolled back the version to Destiny 1.2, then tried to re-fix the game in needlessly complex and bad ways. All while ignoring everything that made Destiny 1 what it was and the changes that made it better.

6 RepliesEdited by Sandman: 9/24/2017 7:09:21 AMTotally agree I had so much anticipation for this game and I had totally brought into the 10 year journey, so expected D2 to have learned lessons from D1 but was bored after first week 1.Vault space already full and characters filling up because Legendary shards maxed and i dont want to scrap items and lose shards 2. Exotic RNG rewards for some reason keep throwing out the same items 4x DARCI Sunshots Graviton Lances :( 3. Timed Nightfalls WTF and Exotics tied into finishing it early to get the reward. There's me thinking Bungle wanted everyone to enjoy all the content 4. Guided Games they claim 10k completions of the Nightfall I say BS I don't think there's 10k people prepared to sit in a que over 30+ mins and not be able to do anything else whilst waiting To name a few of my own frustrations. There's no reason to want to play on after completing Campaign. Nightfall and Raid Reward system is so poor theres nothing that makes you want to go again on a frustrating run I wonder what their reasoning is to why they left out so much good stuff that was in D1 Unfortunatly Bungie have a man that sits at the top of the game development team that thinks we all get excited about shaders.

15 RepliesSince vanilla destiny I've had a theory... I believe they intentionally remove features or activities from the game with the intention of re-adding them in the future so as to give the illusion of "adding" content. They've done it over and over again.
-
2 RepliesMida isn't overpowered with the heavy weight of teamshotting and long lanes the mida is the most viable option if the mida wasn't here it'd be the nameless midnight if that wasn't here it'd probably be the vigilance wing

18 RepliesIt's puzzling why they'd take out all the things that worked in Destiny 1; that made it somewhat enjoyable, or were convenient Heroic Strikes Strike-Specific Gear Raid Gear with unique, or raid-related, perks. Being able to replay, or choose, Strikes and Story missions Being able to choose Crucible Modes Being able to buy armor and weapons from the vendors Ship and Sparrow Kiosk Ammo Synthesis One step forward, 5 steps back... This game just feels so bland. Destiny 1 had many problems, but at least it felt lively. There's really nothing to even chase. Not like in Destiny 1. My biggest gripe right now is the weapons. They replaced the random rolls with fixed rolls, which would have been fine if there was actually a ton of them, all with their own set of perks. But instead, there's hardly any diversity at all, even in the weapon designs.

2 RepliesEdited by Laggy Laggin: 9/24/2017 2:41:21 PMI agree that many things arent improved. But some of the stuff people complain about is good. Pvp was fixed. Gone are the days of starting a match and winning 1vs4 becausr you have a 1 shot from across the map shotgun. Pvp actually now takes teamwork. Sniping took skill yes....but entering a match and some guy shooting 3 bullets and the match ending was dumb. Now that guy has to atleast last until heavy spawns. Team shooting forces people to actually communicate. People are not getting it. They want us to work together Strikes...raids...pvp..trials...events.. We are meant to play together. Also while i agree weapons need some diversity...they need to make sure they dont put stupid perks on them. Things i do miss: Bounties And Factions

Crucible lead Lars: "In destiny 2 crucible, as you can see we added a cooldown on your radar after you ads your weapon. This means you have to think more about when to ads and when not to" Destiny 2 lauches= Brings back the one exotic from destiny 1 with third eye and HC rounds. WHAT THE -blam!- WERE YOU GUYS -blam!-ING SMOKING?

All fits perfectly in a micro transactions & DLC model.

I've come to collect.

6 RepliesEdited by Fos Kuvol: 9/24/2017 2:19:15 PMMIDA isnt the meta because its better than everything else, its the meta because players tend to bandwagon on fads. Most weapons in the game can compete at MIDA's level and it is better balanced than D1 ever was. The gun isn't whats winning. As well, the only "content" that feels absent is private matches. I don't see how that's "a ridiculous amount"
-
They want to do the same thing they did with destiny one. Give us nothing, and then when we get something, we are supposed to be so greatful that we actually have some content
-
There is no content... :( all played up
-
So when is the DLC coming out? I'm disappointed in D2.
-
Content will be drip fed.
