• I think you should have 16gb of ram. I personally have 24 but IMO 16 should be the baseline for gaming PCs.

An i7 being paired with a 1060 3gb makes no sense. Personally, I'd switch that i7 for an i5, and use the saved money to get 16GB of RAM instead of 8GB. I'd also change the graphics card, but unfortunately the price of high end graphics cards have shot through the roof due to etherium mining. Still, here's two recommendations. 1) Upgrade to the 6GB version of the 1060. It isn't that much more in terms of cost if you look around, and will offer a justifiable amount of improvement. And, since 1060s aren't the best for mining, their prices haven't gone up as much as 1070s and up. 2) Downgrade to the 1050 Ti. I'd really only recommend this if you plan on upgrading down the line, or if you're set on only having 8GB of RAM. Still, a 1050 Ti will save you quite a bit of money and still play games at good settings and fps. Edit: I just looked at the price the 1060 3GB you have. That is absurd. A few months ago that could get you a 1070. Just wait for a sale or get a lower end card until the price comes down.

    • You're pretty ok. Keep in mind what's in the post body here is mostly opinion based alright... I'd add another stick of RAM to get to 16g. Personally I run 32 but that's a bit overkill, I'll admit that. Make sure you have clearance on the case. I've seen a couple wonky liquid setups because the case was a little off. We got em to work but there was some Micky Mousing involved. What doesn't make sense to me is that you're pairing the i7 with anything less than a 1070. Also. Note that not a whole lot of games use the hyperthreading technology of the i7. If you're building with a forward mind, cool. But in my opinion you could get away with an i5, 1070 or i5, 1080/1080ti. If you're messing with graphic design or something. Any sort of CAD, stuff like that... the i7 makes a lot more sense. The only other thing I could recommend is an SSD to be used for a boot drive. I've moved my OS and Arma3 onto my ssd. Reduction in startup time is noticeable. SSDs aren't exactly cheap though =/ 50/50 on the optical drive. I only got one because optical drive+Windows on disk was a few dollars cheaper than Windows on a flash drive. If you rip music and things off of CDs or have some disc based games, optical drive makes more sense.

    • Looks pretty good but you can probably save some money on RAM and definitely on that power supply. You're using 320 watts and buying a 750 watt PSU. Try to scrape more money together to get a 1070 or 1070ti graphics card to even things out a bit with your CPU

No such thing as a console "peasant". Yes, that's a very good PC build for the VAST majority of PC gaming. Both the CPU and the GPU can handle most anything you can throw at it. The Liquid cooling system is expensive, but more efficient at getting rid of heat than fans, and a LOT less noisy. It will allow you the freedom to upgrade to more powerful components in the future without having to worry about overheating as much. The only thing I'd make sure is that your tower has room to expand so that you can add RAM later. For the type of rig that you're putting together 8GB of RAM is a bit low. Adequate....but just. Most rigs with those kind of parts will have 16 GBs. But RAM is cheap, and you can always add it later....as long as you remember to allow room for it.

        • It's fine, but I would drop the i7 for a Ryzen 5/B350 mobo, and get a faster gpu. It should cost about the same for quite a bit more performance.

        • I don't think the 6700K is necessary, 4Ghz won't need to be overclocked. That'll be more than enough, even 3.5Ghz would be just fine for gaming. Then if the overclockable CPU isn't necessary, neither is the Z series motherboard, or the liquid cooler. I would personally recommend a B250 Motherboard. That could save you well over $150 to put toward a better GPU, where I wouldn't settle for less than 4gb of vram. The 1060 3gb doesn't cut it on a $1000 build, IMO.

        • Make your part list on PC Part Picker; it will tell you simple incompatibilities and it will tell you the sites you can get the parts cheapest (more often than not it's not newegg).

        • Also depends on what kind of games you're wanting to play.
