Ummmmm, is this true? All guns roll with identical stats all the time?

I really hope this isn't true. Grinding for that perfect gun is what made destiny so replayable. https://pvplive.net/c/destiny-2-random-attributes-no-longer-appear-on-lo

  • This potentially means weapons are now tailor made to do a thing, rather than having perks that do not work well together. Which just like how subclass abilities can be pushed further because of predictability so can the weapons. Of course that may not all pan out, but this does have its advantages over how it was previously.

  • I -blam!-ing hated it. I just threw in a coin and kept with what I got. The only gun I actually kept grinding for was a god roll Imago Loop, but I gave up on that when I got a decent roll and learned that Fatebringer was coming back. Right now, I just want a good story, a good raid, and actually good PvP.

  • Kinda depends on drop rate, number of different guns etc. There's going to be a whole new loot system so trying to equate one part of that new system with D1s current system is never going to seem to fit right.

  • Hmmm... I'd take the "wait and play the actual game before jumping on the fire and pitchforks bandwagon" approach here. But I can see how that would help weapon balance on their end since they now have the ability to target specific guns for adjustments instead of cookie-cutter, blanket nerfing whole weapon archetypes.

  • Said this in another post.... but we don't know the size of the loot table yet. We also don't know what the future plans are. While all guns will have set perks, they could end up having tiers of the same weapon. For example: You could grind for say Cryptic Dragon 3.0 for a better fire rate and dps compared to the base model Cryptic. Will have to wait and see what they do.

    • Don't forget we still don't know what weapon mods do. That might give us customization options.

    • The old system must have been like trying to balance once you took into account all the rolls for the weapons. Maybe the new system will have a fixed set of perks for a gun but allow you to swap between them. Hopefully, the thing that will keep people playing the game in D2 will be the content (having enough to last without doing the same thing hundreds of times) and not farming for the god roll gear. It's far more likely that they will just make legendary drops less frequent so you get hundreds of rare engrams for every legendary that drops

Every gun in D1 has the same stats already. Only perks make a difference. The whole article in the beginning is already wrong. An Eyasluna will always have the same impact, aim assist, equip time etc as any other Eyasluna from someone else (basic stats with no perks included).

          • I hope this is true. That way they can focus their efforts on better ways to promote replayability other than a broken RNG system. Althought knowing Bungie, they will find a way to increase the RNG in D2. Gotta keep that carrot on the stick....

I may have a solution. I think weapons should have set perks but those perks should have a range of effectiveness, like how they do it in Diablo series. A specific weapon could have a damage modifier between 150-200% for example. The percentage you get is purely rng. You don't have to limit yourself to just damage with this concept. You can have a movement speed percentage range or a rate of fire range within certain weapons. Because the perks are still static, you can still individually manipulate weapons to create balance and players can still have the thrill of finding their perfect roll. I think this change is definitely a step in the right direction though. It will create more variety in pvp and less clutter in my vault. If a weapon sucks, Bungie will actually be able to fix it which means more variety in crucible, not 10 months of thorn/hawkmoon -blam!-ery

          • Is he talking about perks? Or stats like range and stability?

This is from a similar article on Mashable: "Bungie faced a balancing dilemma in the original Destiny: if one particular legendary — let's just say, for example, the popular Cryptic Dragon scout rifle — was unbalanced in some way, stat changes could only be applied across the full category of scout rifles. The hand-crafted nature of Destiny 2's arsenal means every piece of gear is its own category, in a sense. A Bungie designer can call up a singular legendary and tweak its stats; a seemingly small thing, but one that promises to change up the notion of how gear is balanced in the coming sequel. "It's gonna give us more flexibility to do per-item tuning," Smith said. "[That's] something we haven't had before because of the way we were building the [first] game." This added flexibility is great, but there's just one problem. With Destiny 2's much larger arsenal, hand-crafted gear means the "lottery" vibe I mentioned at the outset also goes away. It's hard to get excited about getting another Better Devils when it's going to have the same stats and perks as your first one. "How can my second, third, and tenth Better Devils hand cannon be interesting? That's a question we should be asking and answering as quickly as we can," Smith said. "We have ideas. While I would like nothing more than to share those ideas with you, we're up against [a deadline]. I don't know if they'll make it for our Sept. 6 [release] date. But we have some ideas that we're pretty excited about." So people complained about balancing issues. Bungie's tries to negate balancing issues. Says there's more info to come. People will complain that things are too balanced. *SIGH* Source: http://mashable.com/2017/06/29/destiny-2-loot-grind/#2fMkKYcx9gqi

              • It's at the stage now where it seems as if they've everything that destiny was originally supposed to be. The concept of destiny was meant to merge the genres of mmorpg and fps, we all know that. Destiny 2 seems to now share absolutely nothing with mmorpg outside of grinding loot, which now will have no enjoymen anyway. Instead of sticking with what was always gonna be a challenge, they pussed out and just went down the route of pvp balancing and competitiveness. Which is pointless as they are not in investing in dedicated servers so it will never be competitive no matter how much they dumb it down anyway. They've -blam!-ed it.

                  • Well this is good and bad, like you said farming for rolls is half the fun. If they don't release new content and weapons frequently the game could get stale. This will simmer down ppl in ToO who says its not fair because we all have different guns. This is sorta why I hate raid weApons because they hace static rolls.
