Its a competitive race! Any idiot can drive a sparrow through a gate unhindered. It would be boring and there would almost be no way to improve your position in the race since all sparrows have the same stats.
Ever played Mario Kart? Twisted Metal? Split Second? Star Wars Podracer?
If you want to race without getting bumped, go play with your sparrow in patrol

2 RepliesBumping is only really a problem in the first few seconds. After that I'm usually ahead enough not to worry about it, and it's just me and one or two others that are competitively pushing for the shrinking gates. I've never run into anyone wasting their fuel to shove me out of the way when you're actually winning. I will say that it's not all about hitting the gates. Actual racing skill comes into play if you want to win consistently. If you look at my stats it's all first and second places, and then there will be the occasional spike to fifth or first due to one easy mistake. I don't average very many gates, but I still consistently win due to techniques I notice many don't use. I guess others just aren't used to racing, but there are many ways to win without hitting many gates. Of course when you do rely purely on skill you get cocky when you skip those gates. That's why I'll suddenly spike to fifth. I'm skipping gates in first place, but still have a consistent lead and then... forklift. simple mistake, but without the boost from the gates I skipped i suddenly find myself at a severe disadvantage. The key to winning is combining certain techniques as well as hitting necessary gates. That way when you do make a mistake (and we all do) you have recovery room.

Then why do people watch NASCAR Oh wait, its because they're all rednecks
-
No clue, while it can be aggravating it's just part of racing. If you ain't rubbing paint, you ain't racing.
-
Because we're sick of the idiots that never win because there to busy smashing into anyone who gets near them, if your both trying to get through a gate then u expect some bumping but to use your fuel just to try and smash into someone is stupid and childish and you'll never win playing like that. Dirty racers are talentless scrubs, real racers can be fast while being inches away from other racers.

I told my friend to go to patrol if he doesn't want bumped (he was complaining all night) and he got so pissed he left.
Rubbin is racing
from Days of Thunder I don't care too much. It's a tactic, good for them. Sometimes I get someone, other times they get me. Just the nature of the game =)

1 Replymy favorite time of year is watching everyone complain about getting hit in SRL! don't like getting hit? do better to separate yourself from the mob and you'll have nobody around to hit you. also, if you're trying to win, you should NEVER go out of your way to hit someone. you'll just end up doing it wrong and earning yourself a wasted side boost and a free trip into the wall and onto these forums to cry about sucking at SRL. the ONLY time you should ever hit someone is if you are fighting for a gate and become conjoined twins with someone and you side boost them off of you out of the gate and onto these forums so THEY can be the ones crying about sucking at SRL.

Edited by Wells: 12/16/2016 2:43:17 PMIt's not really complaining. Its more like mentally and audibly logging the grievances against you so you can bump back later
-
Right! Ever watch Nascar? Even real world racing has bumping and grinding- kachoow!!
-
2 RepliesIt's inconsistent. People bump into me, I bounce everwhere. I attempt to bump them, I magically glide over them.
-
For the same reasons we can EASILY catch the racer ahead of you, only to be VELCROED to his side for the next minute or so...the racing physics suck in SRL....fall behind, too bad, no participation trophy for you....STAY BEHIND 😁
-
16 RepliesIt's because everyone else is an immovable object whilst I'm a rubber ball.
-
If it was consistent and they had a weight stat for all the sparrows then I wouldn't complain.
-
Edited by kaptainkiely: 12/16/2016 2:15:17 PMSame people about bumping are the same folk who moan about everything else. They are never happy. And they are also just shit probably believe in participation trophies too
-
Nowadays, people still complaining? Better if we call the waambulance.

"Play with your sparrow on patrol" ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Split Second=best racing game ever!

2 RepliesEdited by Archangel: 12/16/2016 12:36:03 PMThere was more bumping in star wars episode 1 than there was in the entirety of pod racer..
SRL could be as chaotic as Burnout though so people need to stop complaining
-
It's not exactly the most competitive mode either. I get it, the physics weren't built for racing, and it can be inconsistent. But its sparrow racing, it was never meant to be taken super seriously. It's just a fun side activity.

Rubbin is racin baby!

3 RepliesIt has to do with race lines for you're about to pass someone and they're in your race line they're supposed to yield position. I posted a link below that I try to go by. But I've bumped before on accident admittedly. https://www.formula1.com/en/championship/inside-f1/rules-regs/Licenses_driving_protocol_and_penalties.html

Yeah I don't why people get so stressed about it, it's only supposed to be a bit of fun for the holidays.
