Soooo I'm sitting here wanting to do the raid on my third character. 3 hours until reset.
I was looking for some people on lfg of course cause none of my friends stay up that long. It should be pretty easy to find a group cause I'm a 373 light and people tend to want 370+ a lot. And I ran across a group on lfg saying this is our first time but we know what to do. And I thought screw it I've been sitting here for 10 minutes looking for a group so I'll try this group. I joined and they were all 362-366's. So I thought "well this is gonna be bad."
Well it wasn't. These people were amazing and it was all their first runs. And they did know what to do cause they apparently used YouTube to find it all out. We ran through the first boss on our second try which is very surprising for their first time. Ran through Zamboni on our first try. All in 30-45 minutes. Not only that but they were really nice and unique people. One guy had a Russian accent and called us all brothas everytime on callouts. They were funny as hell too. They kept going with jokes throughout the raid and we all had our laughs. Now when we got to the final boss it took about 5 tries to get phase 1 done but that's alright and we were all positive about it throughout the whole thing saying gg and nice try we'll get them next time. We started phase 2 and I was surprised by how many dps we were doing. First round we got his health right between a and r everytime. We didn't beat it tho. People kept making mistakes here and there and we didn't even get mad. We just all laughed it off when someone fell off with his scorch cannon on the fifth round. We were at it for about an hour and we kinda just called it a night. No one left without saying anything. They just said it was all fun but they need to sleep cause they got work tomorrow and stuff and we all said GG.
Now here's where it gets -blam!-ed up. I stayed up and went to look for a group cause I still had about 1 hour to 1 hour and a half. I went on lfg and found a group saying must be 370+ with emblem. Well I joined figuring we would get it done fast. As soon as I join the party some kid goes "you got a -blam!-ing mic?" I said yes and he was like ok. I joined the game and they were all 374 to 384. They were quiet for like a whole 2 minutes. They told me to get middle and use storm trance for captain. I did that and I didn't mess up and I did what I was supposed to do. I called it out when I was empowered. I didn't hear other people call out the servitors or who's empowered. No one had the right side so we failed and wiped and they all started screaming in the mic insulting each other. Keep in mind they were adults. Only one kid. We kept going and we kept messing up and I stayed because I had this stupid thought in my head. "They're all 370's so I have to stay we can beat this." Well bullshit. We kept failing and the worst part is they kept shooting the boss but did horrible dps. It only went between c and h. We failed once because we didn't do enough dps. And then another time we were on the last round and I was empowered, I slammed but when I did the boss launched me across the map and I died. Which never happened to me and I figured it happened cause I jumped after slamming. Cause whenever I don't jump after slamming it never happens. So keep in mind when you slam just walk off the boss and do dps don't jump especially if your a warlock floating in mid air. So since I died this kid goes "we didn't do enough dps cause he died he just -blam!-ed it all up for us."
Which shocked me cause that was my first mistake and everyone makes mistakes and I didn't know I could get launched off. But one other guy in the party who was mostly quiet the entire time spoke up and said "it wasn't his fault man you need to chill it's a game." The kid replied with "shut the -blam!- up dude I don't care." Next few rounds that quiet dude messed up FOR THE FIRST TIME and didn't slam when the boss teleported right. Which is fine cause everyone hesitates every once in a while and I knew that was his first mistake so I wasn't mad. Now here's the part that disgusts me. He said "sorry guys my bad." And everyone replied with "yeah your bad." And everyone left the party one by one saying their final words before they leave like "you guys suck" and "-blam!- you all" and "go to hell." Everyone left except that quiet dude and we just sat there having a conversation about how harsh they were. Funny thing is this guy has been doing good too. He was the 384. He did the most dps everytime and killed his captain fast. He was the leader of the fire team. He did talk a lot he just spoke in a low volume. Or maybe he didn't maybe it's just me cause no one seem'd to have a problem hearing his callouts. We sat there talking about how some people in this community are really assholes and they don't even communicate and they blame it on other people. We just said "oh well" at the fact that the reset is in 5 minutes. We added each other and he said we should definitely do the raid some day considering me and him did the highest dps.
So yeah I didn't beat the raid on my third character but it's fine cause I did a big portion of it and got enough loot to infuse for my main hunter to make him 376. But my mind was off of that. I was mad about the fact that people really just don't have hearts in this game sometimes. I honestly don't care about light level anymore. It doesn't mean shit. If I'm ever 385 I wouldn't mind doing the raid with low light levels. As long as they are nice people I don't mind. I mean 360's did twice the damage the 370's did. I'm still shocked by how rude they were. No gg's or any of that. They treat this game like its their life. But I'm glad I met the nice people in the first group. I actually got an invite this morning from one of them and we two manned the s.a.b.e.r nightfall on all three characters. God people can be -blam!-ing rude sometimes but what can we do.
Anyways you all have a great day and remember to respect your fellow brothers and sisters. And don't stress too much about light levels.
EDIT Thanks to everyone for the compliments and for sharing you're good and bad raid experience. We need more people with common sense in this game. Anyways, that first raid group that I friended? Well we played again and I'm pretty sure we're one of the first few people to get the 5th monitor. 2 hours after datto got it so that's pretty cool. Oh and we beat everything first try this time and beat Aksis phase 2 on our second try.
Hope you guys find your raid group soon to stick with. I see lots of people recommending clans so go ahead and give that a try. Just stay positive whether you win or lose and you'll be just fine.
TL;DR: people are assholes

I hate when people place Light and gear demands on recruitment posts. the

That's why I tend to raid with lower levels:)

TL;DR?

A lot of the times the higher light levels are ignorant (not saying everyone just a lot are). Like I did it for the first time Tuesday we were all only 365 area. But we had fun for the whole raid. Some people were butt hurt. We didn't get to complete it though because people had work the next day. And I didn't even look for another team because of how people are on here
-
sometimes you get in a crew of scumbags it sucks
-
Yes, it's quite ridiculous how bad some people can be. The first time I did raid, it was with friends. Our team was me at 340 hunter, my brother 350 warlock, my younger brother 355 Titan, and 2 other friends both 350 and 353 hunters. In the encounter where you actually kill the first boss, we nearly killed him in 1 dps phase. I later did the final boss both phase 1 &2 as a 352 Titan with no problems 1st try.
-
Bud, you're great. Lots more of us around glad them salty, sweaty ass wipes are few and far between.
-
Sorry you ended up with that crap team in the end, but I'm glad you met a great guardian to raid with in the near future due to it.
-
Wow ,yeah had that last night people screaming at others and all . I just wanna complete the raid . I have a horrid time finding groups to raid with lately .I have yet to fully complete the raid

2 RepliesYikes. That second group you had is exactly why I don't raid. People can be awful, for no legitimate reason. I've had some incredibly bad experiences on LFG and honestly just called it quits for anything that requires a fireteam. I play crucible by myself now haha.
-
Add me I'm 369 on my main character and I know exactly what to do!! :) I'm Xbone as well.

5 RepliesI think I remember a group like that... I gave the quiet one an exotic. The rest of them got ascendant shards....

Edited by BK-GHOST: 9/29/2016 10:02:03 AMDestiny in a nutshell right here...community wise... The hungry and humble who are EXP-less are more worthwhile and fun times than the "this is my job" elitist...who arent elite...ive run across some exquisite players between crucible and raiding and some equally...unexquisite?(idk if thats an actual word point remains tho)
elitist aren't elite...in this venue they are the lazy...the elites i kno...help everyone, do their jobs well and always ease people into situations...think im lying? Lol guess what? Iv been one...and have only been an A-hole in defense of my team...how many elitost play woth sqeakers? Elites...dont mind as long as the volume doesnt skyrocket fft
Tons of douche bags in the world. We can all thank their parents for that. Had a guy today that must have been severely depressed. I don't think anything in this world makes this guy happy. I opened my mouth to say something because I almost had enough of his BS. But then I thought- I have no idea what's going on in this guys life and what good would come of telling the guy to F off. So I kept my mouth shut and we eventually finished the raid. I've by far met more nice people in Destiny than I have assholes. Take the good with the bad I guess.

I've reached the point where i'm far more eager to fight beside players with lower light, ambition fuels them while the maxed players tend to have less goals.

3 RepliesI absolutely hate it when people say you need a "required light level" it's completely ignorant. A lot of people don't have the time or luck to get the best gear. I play with my brother a lot and he is always a lower light level but he is one of the best gamers I have ever seen. People will see him in the party and request him to be kicked... So I kick them instead. We did WotM Monday night and he was only 349 light at the time, we got to first phase of final boss without a problem.. He probably did better than most of the team with his "inferior" gear. We had to get off due to it being late but those same people gladly played with my brother again next day. It's not the light that defines you... It's how you contribute to the team.

Must have: Outbreak Prime 400 light level KNOW WHAT TO DO! Hard Mode emblem Don't bother msg if you don't meet the requirements!

37 RepliesI'm going to make this reply short and sweet. I've helped sherpa the raids in the past and hopefully some of the guys I've played with see this and hop in to vouch for it. Did it 100+ times for Crota running sword after I was done my raids for the week, and helped with KF as well (not as much because I didn't find it as enjoyable). If you're on XB1, I'm willing to give you a hand or teach. You just have to be able to understand simple directions and the mechanics, with a good ability to communicate with your teammates. I'm USUALLY available days after 8pm EST and sometimes on Sundays all day, all this is dictated by my 3 year old that runs my life lol. If you're a parent with a child that sometimes interrupts you and has to be taken care of, no worries as I'm often that guy and I understand your kids come first. My GT is the same as above. Please reply below if you want help or want to add me. I can't promise I can help everyone but I'll do my best to lend a hand! Hopefully there's other guardians who feel the same.

I've been playing since the alpha and after all the stress over raids and other end game activities over that time I took an extended break. Now since ROI I've been taking my time and figured I wouldn't rush through anything and just enjoy the game. Sometimes I feel like people don't truly enjoy their time spent on a video game and it's depressing. And shortly when I start raising again I won't be so desperate that I subject myself to people like you described again. I've been through it and it sucks all the fun out of something meant for enjoyment. I've always been super laid back in every fireteam with an equal amount of focus and dedication to complete the task, but I never get mad and lash out at people. I've also learned that if you come out of the gate acting like an aggressive/demanding idiot you make your team mates uncomfortable and more likely to mess up here and there. Allow room for error and people will feel more relaxed and are more likely to perform better. Anyways I am looking for some people to run NF and The raid with soon. Obviously relaxed individuals that don't lose their temper and want to have fun. Wouldn't mind going for the new raid exotic too.

2 RepliesWhen you look at your fireteam and dont know who "that guy" is.....then its you lol

I have to say i really love to read such (long) deep and emotional experiences from others because deep down in myself i know i feel the same or i can feel what the person wanted to say to the readers. And yea you keep it up too doin all great things with your new group :D
