Is ruin wings worth the exotic slot?

Yes. Kind of bugged so they don't work 100% of the time but when they work you'll see more heavy ammo than primary. It's a beautiful sight. Strictly a PvE exotic though.

No, they're almost worthless. The first half of its main perk has been bugged since The Dark Below; it doesn't work. It basically just provides Surplus. Not worth it.

Taikonaut drops extra heavy AND offers tracking for all rocket launchers. This way you can get rid of Truth for a primary exotic. Imo it is a waste of an exotic slot.

Depends what you're doing. They are useful in PvE when you want to use a lot of heavy.

I enjoy using them. I'm also missing year two Saint 14.

I only use St.14 when raiding. For everything else I use Ruin Wings. It has GREAT synergy with both swords and the Sleeper Simulant (the latter becoming an absolute joy to use on a Titan).

100% Ruin wings + iron harvest + machine gun. Orbs so many orbs.

Good exotic I used in year 1 all time that's why I don't use anymore cuz they get boring fast esp with exotics like twilight garrison

4 RepliesEdited by mpuchar: 1/16/2016 4:04:32 AMI go with helm of saint 14. I get enough heavy drops and i also have other armor that gives me increased heavy ammo capacity, so for me its a no brainer. Helm of saint 14 is especially useful in the raid

I ran a strike, and I generated 55 orbs using ruin wings and the arc exotic sword I ran defender because there's a perk that lets u generate 3 extra orbs if ur WoD takes enough damage (instantly generates 2, then another 3 afterwards) I also used the perk that lets u generate orbs on heavy kills, the heavy u used was BOLT CASTER, with the tree perk, kills with the sword generate orbs So basically the entire build focuses around heavy ammo kills, which is why I picked the bolt caster, as my exotic, to get more heavy kills I ran ruin wings, In other words, its a good all around exotic, doesn't have any downsides, but very very good with the right build
