How Can People Say High Grimoire Score Doesn't Equate To Some Sort Of Skill
I guarantee if you go through all the requirements to max out your Grimoire, by the end of it you will progress and become a better player. Going from lets say a 2500 Grimoire to 3500 is a big transition. I look at people with high Grimoire scores as Navy Seal's. You know you can drop them in any situation and they will perform. There might be some people more skilled in certain areas, but they're a jack of all trades. I would take someone with a 3500 Grimoire over a 2500 any day for my fireteam. That score insures confidence to me that they will know what they're doing.

I could be a 3000+ grimoire player but I'm not. Mainly because I don't feel like hunting down the 30 something ghost on Mars. Does that make me less skilled? No, just lazy.

I've been a day 1 player but the reason my grim is so low is because I don't care about getting all the ghosts. If I cared enough I would have a high grim by now. Does not caring to get the ghosts mean I have low skill? Not at all. If I went today to get all the ghosts and had max grim does that mean I have more skill than I had before today? Not at all.

it doesn't lol. i'd consider my grimoire is somewhat low, and i have friends with 1700 grimoire that do just as good or even better than 3000+ grimoire card players.

90% of grimoire comes from things that be grinded out, or carried through. Some of the only things that indicate skill are: NOTE a lot of these can be carried through as well Raid grimoire (can be easily carried through though) small team crucible grimoire: Much harder to just grind out, have to actively participate (usually) to win. skirmish salvage trials elimination Probably missed a few, but those were the ones that came to mind.

As a player with over 3.5k grimoire, I can attest that it does take some hefty play time to achieve. However, collecting dead ghosts increases grimoire as well, and that doesn't necessarily measure one's skill in actual gunplay, reaction time, or decision making. Just how much dedication that they have to this specific game. Dead dinklebots aside, high grimoire also requires not just extensive play, but [i]diverse[/i] play. So a person who is very skilled with only the hunter class, and a select few weapon types will have a lower grim than one who is just as skilled with all weapons and classes. Now, a larger variety of skills is obviously more difficult to attain than skill in one area, but that doesn't mean the player with more specific skills will be worse than the player whose skills are more varied. For example, a friend of mine has played all three classes, but decided he only wants to play hunter. Having three hunters will yield less grim than having one character of each class. But, this doesn't mean that he isn't as good as myself - a player who plays all three classes. In fact, he's actually quite good at coordinating groups of people. For as long as I've known him, he's helped out with plans on how to take down raid bosses we hadn't yet beaten. His grim is still only about 2.5k. What I'm saying is, a more narrow set of skills doesn't always mean the player isn't good at what they do. Now, can my friend from the example serve as a self-res warlock, or a bubble titan? Absolutely not. But I'll be damned if this guy doesn't have the timing of a hunter's invisibility down to a science. TL;DR: [i]Jack of all trades, master of none[/i], I guess.

You're probably right, but I am usually much more interested in just running the weekly stuff or doing pvp with my clan team. More than half of which I know in real life and all live in the same town, or we grew up and went to HS together. So even logging on to me is more my social time than it is "grinding" time. I have honestly never even looked at what requirements I am missing for grimoir

Anyone could sit and kill ogres, wizards, cabal legionaries, any kind of enemy until they reach the amount that gets them 5 grimoire. But on the other hand beating a new boss or doing a raid does take some amount of skill. Also if I wanted to find all the ghosts I could easily look online for the locations which is what im sure everyone has done.

Because I know people with higher grimoire than myself who I can play circles around. Also a lot of grimoire happens just by playing a ton, not necessarily playing well. As a quick estimation measuring stick, I would usually assume a 34 with high grimoire is better than a low, but it's only a guess, and barely an educated obe

4 RepliesIt does equal skill, grinding ogres, hydras, and colossi. It also equals skill finding ghosts! The only part of somebody's grimoire score that equal even a sliver of skill is the crucible game type requirements which just require you to win normal crucible games.

Grimoire does however equal dedication and if a player is dedicated to the game than chances are they will be skilled, so I guess in a roundabout way, you're right.

1 ReplyWell to me the only problem would be the class based grimoire points. There is a chance a person doesn't have a certain class or only uses 1 class. They then lose out on potential grimoire score based around the class they do not have. Meaning having a 3500 score is harder for them. And may not be possible in some cases. Even if they did try their hardest to get all they can with the classes they did have.

Ive played against some really awful max grim or close to players. But generally speaking i am more cautious when I see it.

High score does show skill and dedication. My problem is that having a lower score does [b]not [/b]mean someone isn't skilled. They may not play that much, not play PvE or PvP, or just have one character they love to main. It is silly to think that [i]only [/i]people with high grimoire are skilled, and everyone else is trash.

I see those that have high/maxed grimoire as being multi-skilled. Which is I guess the most accurate description for this topic. To break that down, there are some PvP players with a low (2800 range) score that can be totally epic players. That just means they've spent the majority of their time in the crucible. Maybe shirking certain PvE areas like grinding for ogre/hydra kills, finding dead ghosts, etc. That can also be true for PvE players. They can be in that 2000 range because they mainly do PvE and haven't done much in PvP but focus their skills in raids/strikes etc instead. Now, those that have maxed or really high grimoire, you know they've spent the time in both areas. They've put in the work in PvE and PvP. That is not easy. Yes, it means they may have a lot of time on their hands, but it does require a certain "skill" to be able to get your grimoire that high. I'm the PvE kind of person that said screw crucible, PvP just wasn't for me. But then I got in this competition for grimoire score and what was I faced with? A test to my resolve. Sweet baby Jesus it was not fun finishing off the PvE stuff (I'm still not even trying for the VIP kills). The true test for me was getting involved in the Crucible. Though I hated it in the beginning, I did grow to like it eventually. I am a very competitive person so I always strive to be the best. It is a slow process, but I've grown to not suck as bad as I used to and feel slightly better about my competence (at least in clash and control...still won't touch rumble with a 50' pole). Anywho, that's my take on everything.

12 RepliesMine's just under 3000 & I've been playing regular since launch week, raids, nightfalls, PoE. I've dabbled in PvP, but pretty much only play during IB & a little in Trials. I lived on fusion rifles & LMG's during the 1st few months hence my shotgun & rocket score isn't that high. I'd consider myself an above average PvE player & would be quite insulted if an LFG group black balled me on grimoire score alone.

High grimore just means more time played, not necessarily a better player. Someone could have gotten all their crucibal wins being last place on their team everytime and have the grimore if they played long enough. Some of the better players of the game could also not care about the ghosts, or playing game modes they don't like. I'm not saying I am one of the better players I am far from it.

Wrong wrong and oh! Wrong! You have highly skilled PvP'ers with grimoires in the 28 2900's and they don't really care for raiding and stuff so their grimoire doesn't increase and same for PvE'ers who don't do crucible we linger at close to 3000 cuz the bulk of our grimoire thats missin is PvP achievements. In short, unless you check that individuals grimoire you can't be sure exactly what they're good at a high grimoire CAN be a tell tell of a players skill level, but its not a 100% sure fire way to determine a fellow guardians skill. Folks who post crap like this they're generally insecure people(I'm talkin real life and outside of gaming)... that's why they dig so deep to find a way to separate themselves from the rest of the pack. So emblems and guns don't cut it goin into yr 2, so lets find a new way to be the "cool kids" of destiny. All that high grimoire shows is you've invested alot of time into destiny and thats IT!!! Now ask yourself is it gettin you invited to a twich reveal @ bungie? No! Made any money with all those destiny accomplishments? Probably not. Stop tryin to put meaningless poop on a pedestal and get outta the basement already. As time consuming as destiny is, why would you be proud to announce you probably don't work or have a significant other? You put it out there for the ENTIRE thread... YOU HAVE NO LIFE lol
