This is not a thread talking about the doom of Destiny, or an attempt to cause anyone to abandon the game. This is just my take on how the endgame and light levels are flawed.
There are many issues with creating a soft cap level that requires a stat to a hard cap level. One being that the leveling stat itself becomes the only stat worth looking at because the level it provides is a bigger armor/damage modifier than any of the other stats on the item. Would you sacrafice a level just beccause a piece of armor had 120decipline? Customization is a thing of the past.
Second if you base your end game on leveling a character to the hard cap what is the end game once you've hit the hard cap? You're required to raid to get to level 30, once you're level 30 you are stuck waiting for the level hard cap to be raised(expansion). Some of you might think that's okay, but it's not. You've alienated a portion of your consumers because there are plenty of people who will not ever complete VoG, you can say cry more noob as much as you want but it's the truth. The other portion alienated are the people who devour the content quicker than the content can be put out. They hit the hard cap and have nothing to do. It doesn't seem like coinsidence that all the major MMO's have used model of getting to the level cap and then raid for gear.
That's just my opinion on the matter.

1 ReplyI'm someone who values the aesthetics of how my character looks. SO when I have to switch my badass looking helmet for something I consider ugly as hell, but has better stats, then you've messed up when it comes customization. Light levels should always increase and now just stop once the armor has been fully upgraded.

1 ReplyMy biggest argument is how easily achievable this is. A few weeks in and people are already pretty much maxed out with everything in the game. Anyone level 30 is pretty much limited to gathering marks for gear they don't need . Materials for upgrades they don't need. And buying gear with coins/motes that they don't need.

6 RepliesEdited by SilverCyric: 9/27/2014 6:01:52 PMIt's called a tier system... Quite common and you don't make games for people who play 10+ hours a day, they don't have jobs, hence no money... If you were to play say 2-3 hours a night, you'd still be playing... You're given a bag if chips, and said it will be until December before more chips are provided. Looks to me like over half of you ate the entire bag within 2 days of getting it... I took a whole week off of work, got mad high level fast, but I still don't have enough time to do all the things I want to do on Destiny after work, and for only 1 characters a well...

2 RepliesDidn't LOTR:O use this exact same system? Didn't it fail so hard the developers were forced to release a public apology and overhaul the whole system? Great research by Bungie, I guess.

3 RepliesSo destiny is bad because you get to max level and raid for the best gear which increases your effective level, when that is done you have to wait for the next patch/expac. WoW/GW2/Rift/Etc are better because there is a 40 hour leveling grind at the end of which you raid for gear which makes your level more effective, when that is done you have to wait for the next patch/expac. I totally see the difference. People who play because it is a fun game=win, kids deluded enough to look at it like a job (earning....? Really? In a game?) =lose.

9 RepliesEdited by IAmACrazyFreak: 9/27/2014 3:22:07 PMWould I sacrifice my armor for a stat such as intellect and discipline? Yes, yes I would and already have. I drop from 28 to 26 because I feel using my super and grenades more often is going to make me a better player.
