So I go to school in the south, and fraternities are really important here. All Greek life is actually. Anyway I didn't initially rush one because I figured it would take too much of my time, but at this point I'm like fudge it. They have amazing parties and a there's a lifelong brotherhood. I really want to join SAE or Sigma Nu. But if I can make it into SAE I'm basically set for life. Any advice?

Yeah, I've got some advice. Don't join a frat. My college had four houses, nobody missed the frat kids.

Frats are shitty clubs that you have to pay to get into. Don't join.

8 RepliesDon't you have to pay to be in a frat? I'm already paying for tuition why the hell would I want to pay to be a part of a club?

In college the most important things are 1. GPA (at least a 3.5.. a 3.7 is becoming the new 3.5 2. Being involved and showing you can multi task and develop leadership skills 3. Networking- Best way to get high profile job opportunities 4. Developing social skills. Being in a fraternity can be excellent for these reasons, however, many join just to party and have their GPA get tanked. If you can be somewhat mature, you will find the balance and exceed in life.

1 ReplyTo everyone saying "Don't". Can you give me a legitimate reason why you wouldn't advise someone to join a frat?

13 RepliesYour college frat matters little in the real world. Focus on your education.

Define "basically set for life?"

So I go to school in the south
http://www.kkk.com/ Why join a lame fraternity when you can join a organization with benefits? Plus, you're in the south, and that's kinda their thing.

I don't really see the point. You pay a bunch of money and it eats up a ton of your time. In return, you get...friends?
-
Just don't. Trust me on this one.

I'm a Delta Sig. Fraternity life is what you make of it. Some are cool. Some are douchebags. Ymmv, if you feel at home then definitely do it. If you don't, save your money. The parties aren't that great.

Edited by KingWhovian: 6/26/2014 9:37:39 PMMy advice is that you don't. I've never been to one, but everyone who I talk to that was in one says that they're a waste of time, and from what I've seen, I would have to agree. At the end of the day, you're there to get an education, not sit around getting shitfaced with a bunch of dudebros.

Edited by diggnURgrave: 6/26/2014 6:53:47 PMHere in Western Canada our frats are full of academically focused students. Our frats are a joke, if I wanna join a frat I want parties, I don't want to -blam!-ing "strive for excellence". Join it.

Edited by Obelisk: 6/26/2014 4:37:48 PMDon't let them cum in your eyes, I guess. What's the point of joining a frat other than homosexual experimentation?
