So I was watching some old solo dungeon guides, and I realized solo boss DPS used to be way higher than it is now.

In both videos, a single player chunks off over 40% of the boss’s HP in one damage phase. That’s like a 3–4 phase kill — totally reasonable for solo runs.
Now? No matter what I do — different loadouts, mods, weapon combos — I can’t push more than 20k per phase, tops. Usually it’s closer to 10–15% of the boss’s HP. That means [b]7 to 10 DPS phases[/b] just to finish the fight. It’s honestly brutal.
And that’s not even counting the endless waves of adds constantly shooting at you while you’re trying to survive and set up damage again. It takes ridiculous mental stamina to solo some of these now. It’s not “challenging” anymore — it’s just [b]mentally exhausting[/b].
Feels like when armor and weapon tuning got changed, Bungie kinda forgot to retune dungeon boss health to match the new damage output. Would be nice if someone looked into this, because solo players are kinda suffering right now.

1 ReplyIt should be noted on the spire happy, time to do damage includes shooting the eyes. So if it takes you a while to shoot the eyes you'll have no time for dps. This is also one of the few bosses where PC has an obvious advantage to consoles. Otherwise its hard for me to say solo bosses have gotten harder since I havent tried to solo old content recently. The new dungeon is a free solo through.

6 RepliesI'd like to say I'm a bit above average for pve, I've solo flawed every dungeon the season they released and with the exception of vespers final boss everything has been 4 damage phases or less. And I do the most brain dead, survival over damage builds. With equilibrium, I just used a stronghold titan with praxic and even leaving damage early to refresh buffs it was a very casual 3 phase and 4 phase boss

I did grasp yesterday. I'd have to disagree. I'm usually carrying my mother when I play and both bosses were easy two phases. Solo, I guess I'd have to add one one more phase each at most.

I feel like even with a fully optimised build with loadout swaps and all that, solo bosses should still take at minimum 3 phases.

Post you doing a damage rotation on one of the bosses along with your loadout. Im sure we can determine why you're unable to 3 phase the dungeon bosses.

Yeah if a boss encounter feels more tanky that does not mean it was rebalanced it means nothing really changed.. Something rebalanced would imply that it becomes easier not harder...

6 RepliesWell we stilll can two or three phase dungeon bosses solo. They are tankier, because we are 10 times more powerfull than back then. We werent spaming abilities like they are primary weapons, we didnt had so many resistance/healing/aoe abilities. A testament of this is shattered throne or pit of heresy. Go solo it now, and compare it to how tough it was back then.

4 RepliesThey actually did properly change the health. The issue isn't health its our damage. Most heavies received stealth nerfs making them closer to specials like they used to be back in Shadowkeep. For example rockets got basically a 40% nerf, linears only lost about 20% but that's still a LOT, lmgs I think actually didn't change, gls got about 20% as well, and swords remain unchanged I believe. Specials weren't changed much so its much easier to notice how close specials and heavies are. My sniper for example only does a bit less than my rocket now but before Edge of Fate I needed about 6 sniper rounds to do 1 rocket worth of damage. Roaming supers also lost their 3x recharge (Not fully but its closer to 1.5x) so that's another nerf that I don't think they mentioned. Case in point it's still possible to two phase many older dungeons using specials but one phases are almost out of the question because the heavies used no longer do enough.

5 RepliesI hope you’re not talking about the new dungeon, it’s an easy three phase solo. Ghosts and Vespers now they were a pain in the butt when they came out. Especially the servitor boss in vespers, it took forever.
