Enjoyable and Powerful are not the same thing. And they don’t correlate.
Didn't say they did and what others find enjoyable isn't the same as other people. With Helldivers, the powerfantasy is important, but with Destiny, it’s less so the power fantasy and more so the feel of the game and the gameplay.
That makes literally no sense. No one is powerful in Helldivers and thats literally the whole point of that game. Every enemy, unless your playing on the lowest difficulties, is far stronger than. Destiny is literally a game about being strong enough to kill actual gods. It is 100% about power fantasy and feeling powerful.
This means that Destiny is better suited having Harder Content with engaging gameplay, and overpowered builds often time trivialize this hard content, making it unengaging. Helldivers will always be engaging, because no matter how powerful you are, you are squishy, and with it being a hoardmode, it’s very for you to die even if you’re the strongest -blam!- on earth.
Then don't use said build. Destiny literally has the ability to make the game as hard or easy as one wants it to be. Its pointless to demand or ask for nerfs to things that just because someone doesn't like it. This is the very reason why bungie even acknowledged how they need to quit pointlessly nerfing things and actually let people feel powerful in a game about killing gods, making their corpses into weapons, and wielding space magic.

 • So you’re just entirely missing the fact that Destiny is a looter shooter, and not a powerfantasy genre. The point is to engage in difficult content to earn the best of the best when it comes to loot. If an overpowered build trivializes the content, what point is there locking this reward and loot behind that hard activity. You tune the strength of the player and the difficulty of the activity to the level of the reward, and having an “overpowered” fantasy completely negates this. Helldivers, yes you’re squishy, but you also have an entire battlecruiser behind you. Just as you can be killed instantly, the point is that you can also kill a tanky -blam!- bug, bot, or squid just as quickly with the right weapon. Helldivers needs to focus more so on balancing its powerfantasy behind this idea, whereas Destiny needs to balance its game around the level of reward you’d receive. They are two different genres of game. Notice how in a loot centric Extraction Shooter being Arc Raiders, the activity itself is rather difficult, in part due to the nature of Extraction Shooters, but also because the point of the game is looting.

Asking for pointless nerfs to the very things earned defeats the whole purpose of ever playing the game to earn things. If you get strong by earning better gear, then theres no point in playing or even having gear in general.
If an overpowered build trivializes the content, what point is there locking this reward and loot behind that hard activity. You tune the strength of the player and the difficulty of the activity to the level of the reward, and having an “overpowered” fantasy completely negates this.
That must be why warframe, another looter shooter, thrives so much while giving both thinga to work towards in loot while also letting players become so over powered that even the hardest content becomes significantly easy.
Helldivers, yes you’re squishy, but you also have an entire battlecruiser behind you.
Ah yes. The game that isn't a looter shooter and doesn't revolve around the players killing literal gods, is such a great comparison.
Just as you can be killed instantly, the point is that you can also kill a tanky -blam!- bug, bot, or squid just as quickly with the right weapon.
So powerful gear to make people powerful is good thing? How does it make since in a different game but is some how bad in a game where being powerful enough to kill gods is the whole point of the game?
Helldivers needs to focus more so on balancing its powerfantasy behind this idea, whereas Destiny needs to balance its game around the level of reward you’d receive. They are two different genres of game.
So then why are we bringing it up? Comparing 2 different games to justify why something in one needs a nerf is idiotic. Its also funny how people will spend months complaining about being weak in the game, but once something makes you feel strong in it, immediately call for its nerf. Just purely idiotic.
Notice how in a loot centric Extraction Shooter being Arc Raiders, the activity itself is rather difficult, in part due to the nature of Extraction Shooters, but also because the point of the game is looting.
Ok, and? Destiny isn't an extraction shooter so, yet again, comparing 2 different game genres is idiotic. You arent meant to feel powerful in any extraction shooter. Theres a reason why bungie themselves said that starting in Renegades the plan was to have people feel powerful. Why do you think they haven't pointlessly nerfed anything since its launch like previous dlcs?
