We know the main big bad of the Light and Darkness saga was the Witness, the saga that lasted from Vanilla Destiny 1 to The Final Shape
(I know Bungie says the saga started in Shadowkeep, but I believe it truly started in vanilla Destiny 1)
I am curious as to see who the next villain of this next saga is, but I do have concerns of The Conductor being the main villain simply because of how long Bungie has been hinting her as far back to Warmind (In the Insight Terminus strike I believe) and her killing III in the ending of The Edge of Fate. And it doesn’t seem like she’ll be the main villain of Renegades so I feel Bungie is using her as a bigger role in this saga
The first reason I don’t like this purely biased but The Conductor is nowhere near as cool as The Witness. I mean come on, you can’t deny The Witness was a sick villain
While my second reason is the most relevant, but both her motives and how personal it is differs from The Witness. The Witness was the cause of humanities near extinction, the reason why guardians even exist and the reason for both the collapse and the dark age. This was personal due to everything that has EVER happened stemmed from The Witness’s fleet arriving on earth and causing the collapse.
While The Conductor’s motives is trying to find her wife from multiple timelines that accepts what she is doing, to create a new golden age, (which sounds a lot like The Final Shape 2.0) Maya hasn’t contributed to past story as much as The Witness and feels like a cheap knock off with her trying to basically make ANOTHER final shape
Now here’s a list of villains that are still out there that would be much better villains than The Conductor
(Not saying they should be the main villain of the saga, but just a better one in general)
1. Savathûn- ever since Heresy, we are not off with good terms at all. This creates a better villain dynamic since we have had past experience with her and just by the fact that she was hinted way before dating back to Vanilla Destiny 2
2. Xivu Arath- another hive god we’ve been hearing about for a long time. We haven’t had any past experience with her physically, but we have somewhat dealt with her, like Season of the Hunt, Season of the Deep, Season of the Witch, and Heresy. Season of the Witch especially since we cut her off from her throne world and is now more exposed than ever. She is definitely going to be a main villain for an expansion of some sorts with this much build up
3. Unknown Taken King/Ruler- I don’t see enough people talk about this, but ever since Heresy, it was confirmed that there is someone else that is controlling the taken now and experimenting with them, hence why they seemed different. I feel this would be a great villain for this saga however due to simply the mystery of who this entity is because we have no idea on who’s controlling the taken right now. We also have no idea of it’s intentions, so this mystery villain could definitely be a main villain for the saga
4. The Winnower- it was confirmed in Salvation’s Edge that The Winnower is real. This would be the PERFECT main villain for this saga because he’s a step up to The Witness and he is literally one of THE gods of the Destiny universe. I don’t mean like a hive god but like a literal GOD of the universe. This would be epic since he was supposedly one of the creators of the universe itself next to The Gardener
But what do you think. Would you be satisfied with The Conductor being the main villain or should it be someone else, and if so, who would you want the main villain to be?

3 RepliesThe Winnower needs to make its presence felt Or the Hive Sisters, Because Mya is just not it And it's not because she is a lesbian, I love lesbians, Mara,Sur Eido,Eramis and Arthrys love scene 😍😍😍,what was I talking about ?, oh that's right,Mya has the foundational villian for the Fate Saga, back on track, she shouldn't be because she is just an un-interesting charachter If they want a human-ish villian,Clovis is right there, but we need a Thanos level threat, and that would only come from The Winnower

Seems like there will be multiple villains, all equally problematic in their own way. It looks like “six” the member of the nine associated with Saturn is behind this next expansions threat.

2 RepliesEdited by Deus: 11/24/2025 5:41:03 PMI don’t like any of these villains. Let it be a grief-maddened Zavala after Ikora Rey (and Shaw Han off-screen) is killed by The Conductor.

6 RepliesEdited by DogTheft: 11/24/2025 3:34:12 PMI hope not, I don't want a story about a robot remaking reality so she can eat p*ssy again

Hopefully not.

I really hope not😒.

2 RepliesYall need to stop with the winnower. Its not a thing you can kill. Thats like saying lets make gravity the main villain. The winnower is death. To kill death is to cause death which in itself keeps death alive

Six has been guiding Dredgen Bael to create the cabal army and destroy the light. The plent destroying super weapon in renegades might also be part of a plot to destroy a plant connected to a member of the nine to shift the votes in favor of the outer planets.

9 RepliesIt's a real leap in logic to see "the Conductor" as a universal threat after defeating the Witness. We've defeated gods from the Hive and the Vex. We stuck down the Witness. What has Maya ever done that puts her on the same level as Oryx or even Atheion much less touch the power of the Witness? Oh she has a fragment of the Traveler and the Veil... The Witness had the whole thing. But hey, this is the same videogame logic that had us force our way into the Traveler and then get stopped by locked doors on Earth. Oh no, you can't open that door because the Fallen locked it...like really good... You'll have to stand on the plate and hope for the best ....

I hope not. Her motivation is beyond weak. She has an entire hive mind of time traveling robots at her command, that apparently can infect and take over living creatures, yet all she uses them for is to try and see her dead girl friend? Does anyone care about some spoiled brat throwing a tantrum because she can't get over a death? I'm sure there's more to her motivation besides wanting Chioma back, but frankly I don't care. If we need to go digging through lore to find a character's entire motivation, then it clearly isn't important.

Maya is so dry and boring. No character. No development. No goal. Just another lez out for power for powers sake. Lame and lazy.
-
I hope not. Maya is the worst villain in the ten years of the game in my opinion.
-
I imagine not. It's important to recall that The Witness wasn't shown or referenced in the game until Shadowkeep, halfway into the Light and Dark saga. If the new saga has a singular 'main' antagonist, I think we haven't heard of them yet.
-
Probably The lord of every Nothing. Maya is nothing more than a pawn. She's a tool to get "it" into this 3rd dimension. It's seen the time lines and doesn't want to get bound by us. It will use Bael as a tool and give him access to the red subclass in renegades. The Nine aren't paracausal but can give others access to it to be of use. Nine might even gain access eventually to the red subclass and maybe another. We need enemies with our level of power to give us Ls. Winnower will be watching all of this.

I would like to see a real plot twist. Ikora or Zavala becoming twisted by events and becoming the big bad. Followed either by a redemption arc, or becoming the new dark champion
