I did enjoy much of my play through, but there were three things that frustrated me enough dislike the campaign as a whole. 1. Osiris and Nimbus. Their dialogue was at best distracting and at worse a complete tone killer for the what the rest of the story was trying to make you feel. Even after the campaign, they had a whole side quest just so Nimbus could apparently play the “rebellious rookie” one more time, just in case anyone didn’t notice it playing the main story. Also, Osiris should be dead. Simple. He has no light, therefore he doesn’t deserve the “I went through a wormhole onto a hostile enemy ship and escaped using an orbit drop pod not even designed for my species” plot armor. 2. Calus’ death. Gotta say, the more I think on it, the more I dislike how they made Calus die so easily. It honestly doesn’t even fit his MO. Also, it takes a whole raid team to beat one of his robot clones (that doesn’t even have access to paracausal armaments), but only 1-3 to kill him after he pledged to the witness and became, supposedly, the most powerful he’d ever been? They did not do him justice. 3. Knowing that Strand was originally meant to be in WQ. I don’t know if this is a confirmed fact, but I feel confident enough to say that I do believe that Strand was meant for WQ, and I feel completely disrespected that they would make a “filler episode” just stuff it into the gap between WQ and the Final Shape. It just shows that the developers only care about pumping out titles instead of the quality of the game. “Train station” comes to mind here. Now if this is not the case, and somehow it comes out that lightfall was always meant to be and wasn’t filler, then ok, we were all wrong, but I strongly dislike the practice of making “…content because we need…”.

    • I was pretty disappointed in the campaign. I’m really enjoying a bunch of stuff that follows the campaign, though.

    • So far, I've liked it. And before I get mocked (which I couldn't care less about), I want to point out that it's the second day of the first week, of the first season of the second-to-last expansion. What can a person expect? The whole plot revealed in it's entirety? Right then, let the derision commence.

        • The campaign was great - of the parts that were actually supposed to be there and not the stupid strand stuff. The disjointed strand quests ruined it. Problem is without it Lightfall would have as much story as curse of osiris. There’s speculation strand was cut content from Witch Queen and LF was just cobbled together as filler until final shape

Didn't like the story at all. Bad plot, horrible writing, characters either out of tone or poorly implemented. A lot of missed opportunities to explain things and create cool situations and interactions between characters of who we already had the basis from previous Seasons. Gamelay wise, my first Campaign run (Normal difficulty, constantly changing my Equip with random Blu/Purple stuff the game threw at me for not waste Upgrade Materials before Soft Cap) was a real pain. Missions are horribly designed and a good chunk of them are basically: "Accelerated course on how control Strand with your whiny b. Osiris as teacher". Now that I've rised my Power a bit, infused my Gear and purchased few Strand Fragments I'm starting to enjoy the game a little bit more. Playing the campaign at Legendary difficult but with the right gear is not particulary hard.

I thought it was okay, but not DLC quality. It felt more like a seasonal quest than a campaign. It revolved way too much around learning about strand and neglected the actual conflict. "We need strand to beat calus" yet during the bossfight there was no strand based mechanics other than grapple points. It just didn't add up. Definitely one of the worst expansions campaign wise, I'd say it's competing with CoO. Gameplay was great though, kinda hard to make destiny gameplay not fun though.

          • Story wise, worst one we've had in D1 and D2. Early levels were fun and well constructed regarding gameplay but I agree with many others that there was way too much Strand stroking and it really did distract from the 'impending doom' of the story. Not sure thats so much of a bad thing though, because the story is nonsense, it could absolutely have been delivered better and while I have no issue with leaving us guessing about the things we didn't see, we're also left guessing about the things we did see and were involved in. Not good storytelling. Eye of the tiger getting strong now montage... I don't use this word often as its one for the youngsters but I struggle to find a better fit... Cringe. I actually didn't mind Nimbus' character and dialogue, still better than Drifter, but that exposed lower rib cage looks -blam!- bad and draws eye focus like a huge mole on someones nose. I feel like the Witlessness used Calus to lure us to the veil because we're Special and for whatever reason our Ghost was the key to using the Veil to open the Traveller all along, which would be ok because the ever growing cast of characters have made our Guardian a little less significant over the last couple years, but without any explaination due to the awful story delivery the whole thing is a mess. Bad Bungie, Bad.

          • Personally I liked the gameplay of most missions. Tormentors were annoying at first cause basically felt like I just had to run around for 5 minutes till I found a ok strat for em However as many others have been saying, the narrative is pretty bad I'm hoping that unlike previous seasons building up to the next expansion that the next few build on to this one more than usual and expand on stuff like the veil. Maybe if that's the case they wanted to make seasons more impactfull, but spending 60 bucks just to learn absolutely nothing story wise kinda sucks. Then needing 40 more just to really get the story you thought you paid for is ridiculous as well. And that's if the seasons expand more on this dlc's story rather than building up to final shape

            • The gameplay was fine although i think the forced strand parts where a normal subclass would have been way better were frustrating. Final boss was extremely underwhelming from a gameplay and plot perspective. The plot overall was very bad. >"we need to master strand to beat calus, he wont expect it" >whole story is spent mastering strand >guardian finally face calus >uses starfire protocol touch of flame fusions >lol

            • Could have been better and should have been more fleshed out than it was They wasted good opportunities to expand things and delve deeper into the new city All in all feel like it was Rushed with minimal effort

            • Strand tutorial ruined it. Destroyed it. It should have been a separate quest to get strand.

            • The sad thing is it had promise since we were going to lose the traveler. Instead bungie had us spend 80% of the campaign messing around with Strand Instead of doing important plot points. Most levels were meh, but there were a few in chapter 1 I did like purely because it felt like bungie was going back to its halo roots. All there rest were a dumpster fire with no real point.

            • I enjoy story, but the main draws of this game are the gameplay, the art, and the sound. The last two always deliver. Gameplay is solid still to this day, but strand lacks the flow that they made it seem like it would have.

You need to have a narrative, or at least some character driven moments to tell a story. Lightfall has very little of either. Well, you have Nimbus acting like a child and Osiris yelling “faster”, but not much else. The Witness did the thing, we shoot some stuff and have no idea what for really. Bad man highjacks macguffin and does things we don’t even notice any effects of and have to be told by NPCs afterwards that they actually happened. Whatever those things were we still don’t know.

              • This campaign felt like a boss rush story mode in a fighting game, and I liked it... the only thing I'm critical of is how detached Nimbus seems at times (no spoilers). It wasn't as good as Witch Queen. But I still liked it... it's alot harder than Witch Queen on Legend, I like that too. I'm strugglin on Calus legend solo... it's rough, I know about the chz, but I don't do that stuff. I know Cammy says it's easier than Witch Queen in his vid, that must be sarcasm... the only fight on legend that was any kind of challenge was Savathun... and Calus is harder solo, that Vex boss with the forcefield is harder solo (I know you can chz that too, but I didn't).
