Quickest opening credits scene I've ever seen.
They probably watched Cinema Sins.
As well as amazing music. I do like a bit of heavy piano in my movies.
I like how it opens, and how it's in the perspective of his journal, but I wish it stayed in that kind of narration throughout instead of kind of stoping half way ish...
at least I think. I forget
Like a detective movie.
Which I think this is trying to go for which is nice.
Again, I like the music and the Ave Maria.
Gotham
The city was an interesting mix of something from Tim Burton's Gotham and Christopher Nolan's Gotham. Kind of grounded to reality but exaggerated a bit with the advertisements and slums. Bat signal being in an abandoned building is also interesting but neat
Batman
I think the cowl is a bit too wide on the mouth part. But the suit was very nice.
I like the bullet proofness too. He just tanks those suckers either cause the suit absorbs the impact or he really doesn't give a rats about pain, and it really adds to that fear factor he talked about earlier.
I noticed the heavy foot steps and it's a nice effect, adding weight and power to the character.
Absolutely dumb when he cut the wire and the movie tuned out the audio to give the effect that he died or something dumb like that. I realllllly wish he threw it.
I love the fight scenes though. Heavy blows and funky cameras. Shame they didn't do a side scrolling hallway fight. Like Old Boy! That woulda been neat.
Catwoman
was... okay. Gotta say that first wig was great, then the others just went down hill. She used a whip once, and she didn't get goggles at all... so her headgear was a terrible when she wore it, and the rest of the suit was okay. The hair was too short imo, but now I'm getting OffTopic.
Shame there weren't goggles or a better mask.
It felt a bit jarring when she said "white privileged", (like, that reeeaally stood out in the dialogue.)
but to be fair, it's hard for me not to see some things in big movies and games as a agenda throat shove nowadays (cause there's been some). A me problem and it's unfortunate. But let's ignore it. She was talking about politicians anyways. No one likes those.
That "shush. the fights over" kiss was dumb though. Check the bodies before you celebrate. Double tap! Double tap!
Idk. Wasn't the best.
The Penguin
Penguin was a neat take. Not a completely deformed midget, just a slightly chubby long nosed monster.
The Riddler
Riddler. I liked that guy. He's no Frank Gorshin, but I think he played the character well on the darker and crazy side, kind of like the Arkham series. You could just sense the crazy.
I still want the green though...
Others
Gordon was neat.
Alfred... I was expecting someone with his reputation to be a little older. But that's fine.
Freddy Mercury was a charismatic fella, but felt a bit too much like a Clue Ex Machina when he CONVENIENTLY KNEW WHAT THE TOOL WAS.
The fact he conveniently walked in on Batman and then relayed this useful price of information, instead of during the actual investigation, mind you, was veeeeery convenient.
Coincidence? I think not.
He's a goon, I know it. There's no way a man with that kind of mustache can be clean.
----I believe that's everything I've got----
In the end, it ain't no Dark Knight series, but it's good in its own way... Except the very fast Selina relationship...
I kinda liked how he didn’t use batarangs because it so early in his career.
When he took an adrenaline shot and detached the bat symbol from his chest, I fully believed he was going to throw it.
The only moment in the whole movie I disliked was when he was
dangling from that wire, stupidly cut the wire above his hand so he would fall, and the movie really wanted us to think he died from that.
I saw a lot of inspiration from the Telltale series and the Arkham games, especially in the Riddlers character.
The Joker at the end looked weird. Thought he was Two-Face for a second but I can’t wait to see how the actor pulls him off.
Overall, I loved it. The music was especially perfect and this movie has my favorite live action batsuit so far.
